Over-the-top trucks are a MegaRexx specialty. The Castle Hayne, North Carolina-based outfit calls this three-row extra-large SUV the “MegaRexx SVN.” We’ve covered the company’s other creations, including the MegaRaptor and MegaBronc . When it comes to Ford trucks on bath salts, MegaRexx delivers.

First, the company fashions a long roof from aluminum. Then it turns the F-250 bed into a part of the cabin. Easier said than done, we know. It’s integrated with the rest of the F-250 , not just a fiberglass bed cap.

The long expanse of tinted windows in the murdered-out presentation goes almost unnoticed.

Outside, the MegaRexx SVN Super Duty receives a modest 2.5-inch lift, along with a Carli Suspension leveling system. The 20-inch rims are Fuel Militia wheels, supporting 35-inch Nitto Ridge Grappler off-road hoops. Thanks to those tires and lift, tubular side steps are also part of the package.

In addition, you’ll find plenty of MegaRexx ID badging on the exterior. The front and rear fenders get badges, as do the C-pillars. Also, the company name is emblazoned on the tailgate. Inside, the only identification appears on the dash, expected for a high-end custom SUV .

2023 Ford Excursion: Ford hasn’t built a Super Duty Excursion SUV in years. But that hasn’t stopped many from wishing that were still the case. That’s why MegaRexx Trucks turned the F-250 into the new Excursion. And if you like it, you can buy one of these giant seven-seater SUVs.

One would expect an over-the-top truck from MegaRexx of Castle Hayne, NC. He calls this extra-large three-row SUV “MegaRexx SVN.” We featured other company trucks, such as the MegaRaptor and MegaBronc trucks. When it comes to a Ford pickup in a bed, it’s usually a MegaRexx creation.

First, MegaRexx made a long roof out of aluminum. Later, it turned out that the F-250 bank had become part of the cockpit. Easier said than done, we know. It blends in with other F-250s and is not just a fiberglass cover.

The long strip of stained glass windows in a spectacular presentation does not go unnoticed. Inside, the darkness continues with the Lariat Ultimate fully covered in leather. This and much more give the interior a very luxurious look. The first and second-row seats are equipped with individual power seats.

The rear seats use the third-row seats from the Ford Expedition. These are upholstered like the front and center row bucket seats. And third-row passengers get their own Vintage Air climate control system. With Lariat Ultimate trim, the front seats are heated and ventilated. The package includes a Ford Sync 4 infotainment system and a 10-speaker Bang and Olufsen sound system.

Aside from bringing back the Bronco, is Ford planning on relaunching the most significant SUV ever produced? Rumors started to surface, the excitement grew, and we decided to theorize what the 2023 version of the coveted “Ex” might look like.

Of course, in keeping with the three-quarter tonne foundation used from ”00-’05, this version will also be based on the Super Duty platform. Ford will offer the diesel option again.

Imagine the Platinum Edition traveling through the age of modern equipment, equipped with a powerful 6.7 liter 1050 lb-ft stepper motor paired with a new 10-speed TorqShift derailleur and full stroke belt.

Like the booming SUV market in the United States, the Excursion appeals to those looking for a three-row heavy-duty vehicle. Arriving in the fall of 1999 as the ’00 model, the ‘Ex ditched the GM Suburban, boasting the longest (226-inch), widest (80-inch), and tallest (77-inch) SUV ever produced by any of the Big Three. It can also pull 10,000 pounds thanks to the Super Duty-ton frame, suspension, axles (a solid front on the 4×4 model), and the Class IV hitch that comes standard.

Some 15 years after Excursion discontinued production in the United States (which produced a limited number of 2006 models for Mexico), General Motors has unrivaled control over most SUVs.

But how long can GM’s dominance last? In the eyes of many, the Dearborn automaker seems interested again in the mouthwatering cake. After all, a fully functional new suburb could easily cost well over $80,000.

New 2023 Ford Excursion

The all-new 2023 Ford Excursion is the subject of much speculation lately. This is the largest SUV ever produced and will be returning shortly. This F-250-based SUV was last produced in 2005, and now Ford can bring the iconic model back to life. According to many reports, this model will be launched once again at some point in 2020.

Tours will get a redesign, a new engine, and new architecture. The SUV segment proliferates, and the Excursion will become an instant hit. Both diesel and petrol engines will be offered. In addition, the Blue Oval will introduce several trim levels and the possibility of a high-performance variant.

The upcoming 2023 Ford Excursion will be the largest SUV in its segment. Previously, the Excursion was 226 inches long. For comparison, the Expedition MAX is 222 inches long.

Moreover, the Chevrolet Suburban has a length of 224 inches. However, it is an extended version, and Excursions are not. Ford plans to present a new design that will look unique and modern.

Meet the 2023 Ford Excursion from an exceptional nation, imagination. It was sketched by innov8designlab and shared on social media a few hours ago, and looks ready to tackle some steep slopes and slippery trails, so long as it fits.

Its sheer size, as it was hypothetically built on top of the Super Duty, as the original was at the time, would have provided a spacious interior with lots of leg and headroom and a vast cargo area. The 4×4’s ample storage space has been further enhanced in this regard, as it features a roof rack for hauling additional gear, complete with a set of LED lights above the windscreen.

The steel bumpers at either end, finished in the same blue as the rest of the exterior, are another highlight of this digital assembly, which also has plenty of ground clearance thanks to the new suspension. The wheels are wrapped in fat tires that are supposed to improve traction in sticky and slippery conditions, and an additional light bar is mounted on the front bumper.

As for that impressive face, it comes straight from Super Duty, albeit with a few tweaks. The unofficial interpretation of the modern Excursions had large side mirrors and no side steps, making getting in and out tricky.

New Excursions Hardly anything fits into a crowd more quickly than the usual Ford Excursions 2023 platform or E-350 Super Duty van-Becker. Still, nothing goes out of the ordinary with the interior.

The typical layout of the convertible SUV calls for eliminating the second and third-row seats, replaced by two large seats and up to three rear-facing jump seats, all upholstered in high-grade leather.

Beautifully finished wood trim accents the cabin. The large flat-screen monitor doubles as a divider that can be raised, lowered, and connected to entertainment systems and computers. The satellite link, wireless keyboard, phone, and foldable desk allow for full connectivity during travel.

The chairs recline fully for relaxation, and CDs and DVDs provide entertainment. (With the advent of Wi-Fi networks, in-car entertainment options are expanding. We’ll soon be able to enjoy media downloads from our home computers.)

The SUV’s ride quality is much better than we hoped for, thanks to exclusive suspension modifications, and there’s no way we’ll flinch. Wake up from a nap. Vans – generally Ford or Mercedes-Benz Sprinter – offer a more significant size of space and versatility – individual chairs or sofas, for example. And because they are more fashionable than SUVs, vans can also achieve a lower profile.

On the outside, the MegaRexx SVN Super Duty has a modest two ½-inch lift and a leveling system built by Carli Suspension. The 20-inch Fuel Militia wheels support the 35-inch Nitto Ridge Grappler off-road ring. Tubular side steps are used because of the tires; that lift is part of the package.

MegaRexx ID badges are everywhere. Both the front and rear fenders have them, along with C-pillar badging. Also etched into the tailgate is “MegaRexx.” The only identification appears on the dash, as you’d expect from a high-end custom SUV.

Just as the 7.3-liter petrol engine and 6.7-liter power-stroke engine benefit from the Super Duty version of the new 10-speed TorqShift automatic transmission, the same linkage will (and maybe) be used for short trips.

The transmission ratio of the first gear numbered 10R140 is 4, and the very low 61:1 0.674:1 is six gears from the previous 6R140). To achieve the best fuel consumption. Ford Expedition vs. Chevrolet Tahoe

The Chevy Tahoe and its twin, the GMC Yukon, are the Expedition's closest competitors. GM followed Ford's lead when it redesigned the Tahoe with a rear independent suspension. As a result, its third-row seat is more spacious than before, though the Expedition's rearmost seats are slightly roomier. You get more engine choices with the Chevy, however, and the Tahoe's V8 returned better real-world fuel economy than the Expedition's turbo V6 in our tests.

What is the Expedition?

The Ford Expedition is the biggest and baddest vehicle in Ford's arsenal. This large three-row SUV is based on the Ford F-150, meaning it uses body-on-frame construction — the default choice for SUVs before the car-based crossover became ubiquitous. The Expedition's pickup truck underpinnings give it the strength to tow heavier equipment than the Ford Explorer crossover, yet its ride doesn't suffer as a result. This generation of Expedition dates back to 2018, and from its inception, Ford has done a great job balancing the need for a tough, capable SUV with the ride comfort buyers expect of a modern vehicle.

We don't expect the 2023 Ford Expedition to be significantly different from last year's model. That's because the 2022 Expedition introduced a slew of new changes, including a larger touchscreen, the addition of the BlueCruise hands-free driving system and the new Timberline trim, driven by a slightly less powerful version of the engine from the F-150 Raptor. If Ford does tweak the 2023 Expedition, it will likely be in the form of minor shuffling to standard or optional equipment. Today’s market is full of SUVs with pretty impressive dimensions but back in the day, there were even bigger models. This primarily refers to Ford Excursion, which was in production between 1999 and 2005. It is one of the biggest SUVs ever made, based on the F-250 Super Duty pickup . These days, we are getting reports about the possible comeback of the nameplate. Allegedly, the blue oval company is already working on the new model, which could come as the 2023 Ford Excursion.

At this point, the revived Excursion is just a rumor. The officials are still quiet, so it’s hard to talk about details. On the other hand, we may presume some base design solutions and features. More precisely, we expect to see the same design approach as in the case of the original model, though everything will be adapted to the modern era of the automotive industry

The comeback of this large SUV has been rumored and if we can trust rumors, the all-new 2023 Ford Excursion could arrive already in the next year. At this point, we don’t know anything about design and features, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make some predictions, especially in terms of base design characteristics.

This particularly refers to the base design approach, which would be the same as in the case of the original model. We would see a design that’s based on Ford’s Super Duty pickup, the F-250. The two models would share most of the parts, though we presume that the new SUV would come with slight revisions regarding suspension setup and similar things.

Of course, the first thing that comes to mind about the exterior is its gigantic size. If you remember the original model, you know it was the biggest SUV on the market, with more than 137 inches in wheelbase. Meanwhile, the competition got bigger as well, so models like GMC Yukon XL now feature 134 inches in wheelbase. Therefore, we may expect the 2023 Ford Excursion to be even bigger. Some sources suggest that the new model could feature more than 140 inches between the axles.

In terms of styling, we don’t expect bigger surprises. The 2023 Ford Excursion would come with a familiar design approach, especially in terms of the front end. Of course, we are talking about the same front face as on the F-250, with the same grille, headlights etc. The rest of the body would come in a typical wagon manner, long and extremely spacious.

Without any doubt, the first thing that comes to mind about interior design is the amount of space. With the expected dimensions, there is no doubt that the 2023 Ford Excursion would feature tremendous amounts of space. We would see three extremely spacious rows of seats, where even the third row would feature more than 40 inches in legroom. As result, the new model would be able to accommodate eight adult passengers with ease. The cargo area would also bring tons of space, as the overall volume would probably go way over 150 cubic feet.

On the other hand, the dashboard design would feature the same shape as the one found in the F-250. Still, we might see minor upgrades for this occasion, in the form of nicer materials and new tech features. Speaking of the tech features, we presume that the new SUV would come standard with the company’s new, vertically-oriented screen.

2023 Ford Excursion Engines

It’s relatively easy to predict what would happen under the hood of the 2023 Ford Excursion. We presume that the engine lineup would be the same as in the pickup sibling, which indicates three powertrain options on the offer. Base models would come with a 6.2-liter V8, which puts out around 385 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. The upgrade would come in the form of a 7.3-liter Godzilla V8 engine, which comes with a max output of 430 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque.

Finally, we also expect to see a diesel version of the SUV. That model would come with the monstrous 6.7-liter turbodiesel, which puts out around 475 horsepower and 1.050 pound-feet of torque.

All three engines would come coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

With the changing market toward the woke EV market, please don’t ignore the Thousands of normal American truck customers that would line up to buy an excursion. I sold my 2003 7.3L Excursion when it didn’t fit in the garage in my new house. I have had 17 years of sale remorse and while I owned one of the 6 L disaster engines, I would buy a 2023 Excursion without hesitation. 113K miles on my RAM 3500 and this one would just take the place of the worthless diesel grand Cherokee I am stuck with.

I had a 2000 Excursion with the V10 and it was the best vehicle I’ve ever owned. It was great in the snow,rain or just about anything I put it through. I kept it up to par. I just lost it on New Year’s morning to a drunk driver. She totalled the whole rear end. When the New Excursion comes out I plan on buying one and hopefully it upholds to the older models. They are beautiful and very dependable and stout. Love them

This Scenic Fall Foliage Train Ride Is One of the Best Ways to Experience Autumn on the East Coast

There is no place like New England in the fall . In addition to its sheer number of trees, many of them deciduous, the towns that make up New England truly embrace the fall season with cider donuts, U-Pick apple orchards , and maple syrup everything .

And while most people catch the fall colors from the comfort of their car , there is a better way. A way that allows you to explore beyond the heavily traveled highways so you can be fully immersed in the tree-laden landscape. Enter the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad and its special “Fall Foliage Trains,” which run from mid-September to mid-October.

The four-hour foliage-focused train journey departs from the tiny town of Meredith, New Hampshire, and continues up and over Ashland Summit to the north. It crosses the scenic Ashland High Trestle, which affords travelers with views of the water and forest below, before passing through both a red deer farm and a Christmas tree farm. 

The train continues to Plymouth, New Hampshire, where it stops at a local inn, The Common Man Inn & Spa , for lunch. This establishment welcomes train travelers with a hot buffet lunch served in its dining room. The fall-themed lunch typically includes a hot soup, roasted turkey and stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, and a side of cranberry sauce and butternut squash. There is also a vegetarian option. (Just note that the menu can vary.)

Following a hot, relaxing meal, train travelers can peruse the inn’s gift shop for New Hampshire-made products before hopping back on the train for the journey home. 

En route to Meredith, where the journey ends, the train makes one more stop in Ashland, New Hampshire, which is home to the restored Boston, Concord & Montreal Railroad Station . Here, travelers will be treated to a full tour of the historic station by members of the Ashland Historical Society, who are dressed in full 1860s attire

From Ashland, the train continues back over Ashland Summit and makes one final pass by Lake Waukewan before dropping travelers back at the Meredith Station.

The special fall foliage trip on the Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad leaves Meredith Station at 11 a.m. and returns just after 3 p.m. The four-hour excursion only runs on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from Sept. 19 to Oct. 20, 2024. Tickets for the fall foliage special are $99.99 a person and include the hot buffet lunch in Plymouth, the guided tour in Ashland, and a souvenir tour booklet.

GLAAD , the LGBTQ media advocacy organization, has released its 12th annual Studio Responsibility Index tracking films released during 2023. Despite “a huge increase in LGBTQ characters who were front and center in their own narratives,” the study found the number of films with LGBTQ characters dropped in 2023.

The survey looked at 256 films from 10 major distributors and their subsidiaries and streaming services. GLAAD says the index can serve as a guide for studios to identify priorities and opportunities to increase and improve fair, accurate and inclusive LGBTQ representation and storytelling.

2023 Ford Excursion Could Make a Comeback Next Year

Rumor is that Ford is planning on bringing back another long-forgotten name. This time around we are poised to see the newly refreshed 2023 Ford Excursion. The Excursion has been forgotten and discontinued for over a decade. It was last produced in 2005 and now Ford is trying to give it new life. It was mainly based on the F-250 and its body design but reimagined as an SUV. Since it has been 17 years since the last sight of this vehicle, we don’t expect small changes to it.

This probably means that Ford will build the project from scratch. In translation, this should give us new architecture, new design, new look, new technology, and definitely an all-new powertrain lineup. Some even speculate that the 2023 Ford Excursion could be all-electric or at least hybrid as standard. Similar to what Ford has done with their Maverick truck. This is a full-size SUV which means it will directly compete with Wagoneer and Tahoe RST . It might even be longer than it previously was.

Whichever is the case, let us jump into the review and see what kind of design we can expect with the new Excursion.

2023 Ford Excursion side

Huge and Modern Interior

We already mentioned that the 2023 Ford Excursion is one of the largest SUVs in the category. This means a huge cabin and a ridiculous amount of cargo space. But let us not forget that it has three rows of seats. This means that they should be detachable and foldable to allow for said cargo space. Some manufacturers forget about legroom and headspace for the back rows. Hopefully, Ford takes notes and pays attention by making enough legroom so it isn’t too cramped in the back. Seats are another point of interest for us. Ford should make them padded and cushioned, this will ensure comfort even on the longest rides.

There are fans of racing car seats, but we don’t believe something like that would do the trick in an SUV. There is usually leather, suede, and fabric to choose from as far as materials are concerned. Contrast stitching could be added to increase the overall style of the interior. We all know how Ford likes to copy designs from already existing vehicles under their flag.

So it wouldn’t come as a surprise if the 2023 Ford Excursion’s interior resembled that of the F-250. It was previously based on it so why not once again. Expect to see dual-zone air conditioning. Vinyl flooring and even a remote start. The infotainment system could be 14 inches in size. This is due to the fact that it has three rows of seats and we want everyone to be able to join in on the fun. Some chrome accents wouldn’t hurt in the cabin

Lining the instrument panel and some other details in chrome or some other metal increases luxury greatly. Wagoneer has wooden details so there is one more idea for Ford to give some thought to. In a fierce competition like that, Ford has to make the interior functional, practical, and luxurious.

With three rows you can easily seat up to eight people.  Of course, you can pull out a row or two, or fold them to get extra cargo space in order to haul furniture or something of similar size. Adding a panoramic roof would add to some breathtaking moments while driving along on a starry night. Ambient light should also be included, this feature is quite popular nowadays and is not going to cost too much.

Digital dashboards are becoming standard nowadays so expect to see one. It just remains to be seen whether Ford puts in a driver safety system. Artificial intelligence software like these can save the lives of people inside and outside the vehicle. Collision alert, pedestrian detection, and lane change alert are just some of the features that can make your life much easier.

2023 Ford Excursion Design

We expect the overall dimensions of the Excursion to remain pretty much the same. Previously it was measured at 137 inches long, while currently, the Chevy Suburban is the longest at 134 inches long. The 2023 Ford Excursion will have a wheelbase of 140 inches and expect it to borrow some stuff from the already mentioned F-250. SUV style changed over the years so expect it to be sleeker, with a less blocky design, and more angles and curves. This way it has a more aerodynamic and ergonomic look which in return improves fuel economy.

Wheels are probably going to be between 20 and 22 inches. Lightweight alloys to save some weight on a huge SUV. Excursions probably feature a huge front grille with mesh to let air under the hood in order to keep things cool. Ford lettering is a must at this point on the front. Huge sideway mirrors are probably due to the extreme length of the SUV.  Adjustable air suspension is a must on a vehicle this size, also improved chassis and base to hold the extra weight.

Engine Options

The previous version was available with a diesel engine exclusively. Since they might base the 2023 Ford Excursion on an F-250 there should be a diesel option once again. Using the same engine makes sense, it is a 7.3 liter V8 gasoline engine that produces 430 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque.

There is also a possibility of a 6.7 liter V8 turbo diesel but specs are still not official. Obviously, there is the possibility of an all-electric variant or at least a hybrid, which would be great. Ford has experience with all-electric vehicles and with great success.

Is Ford Coming Back with the Excursion?

We could see it on the road in late 2022 perhaps early 2023. Pandemic is known to change due dates and push them further away from the planned release.

Statement of CFPB Director Rohit Chopra, Member, FDIC Board of Directors, on Actions to Strengthen Bank Merger Review

Today, the FDIC Board of Directors is voting to finalize its policy statement on bank mergers. The updated policy provides transparency to the public and future applicants as to how the agency evaluates the statutory factors under the Bank Merger Act. Banks should not waste agency resources by submitting facially unlawful applications, including those proffered by certain megabanks, repeat offenders, and others looking to take out competitors or improve profit metrics instead of the convenience and needs of the community.

We are issuing this updated policy contemporaneously with the Department of Justice, which is withdrawing from the outdated 1995 Bank Merger Guidelines. The DOJ will consider bank mergers under its 2023 Merger Guidelines. 1 This approach will ensure that bank mergers are appropriately investigated under the antitrust laws.

A decentralized banking system is critical for U.S. capitalism to work. If small businesses and entrepreneurs can’t get fair access to credit, they cannot innovate and challenge incumbents. If families struggle to affordably finance a house or a car or banks gouge them with junk fees, the American Dream is put out of reach.

Instead of giving banks free rein to merge and concentrate resources in a few big cities, Congress requires a strict pre-approval process in which regulators weigh the transaction against multiple statutory factors. Based on our analysis over the last two years, it is crystal clear that regulators have completely defied Congressional mandates. 2

In 1990, the top 10 banks controlled 15 percent of banking sector assets. Today, they control more than half. This consolidation has eradicated thousands of relationship banks. The 15,200 banks with less than $100 billion in assets (2023 dollars) controlled 85 percent of the market in 1990. Today, the 4,500 remaining banks under $100 billion control just 29 percent.

Permissive merger review is not unique to the banking sector and has plagued sectors across the economy. In 2021, President Biden signed an Executive Order to sunset this approach and restore competition. The FDIC initiated a review in 2022 and proposed a new policy statement earlier this year. The Department of Justice sought public feedback on its outdated 1995 Bank Merger Guidelines in 2022 and is withdrawing from those guidelines today. We’ve seen several major transactions abandoned recently after agency scrutiny, including TD Bank’s acquisition of First Horizon and State Street’s acquisition of Brown Brothers Harriman.

I’d like to highlight a few key aspects of the final policy statement.

First, the policy statement dramatically improves the rigor of the agency’s competition analysis. The FDIC will go beyond just a quick look at local deposit market concentrations to understand the deal rationale and market realities. 3 The agency will analyze the competitive effects of the transaction across multiple dimensions, including local, regional, and national geographies, product markets, and customer segments. 4 Customers across markets must retain meaningful choices. The agency will also weed out anti-competitive conduct tied to the transaction, including with respect to noncompete agreements with employees of divested branches and contractual gimmicks that preclude new banks from acquiring physical branches that are closed as a result of the deal. 5

Second, the policy statement aligns the agency’s merger review with the statutory requirement to evaluate the impact of the deal on the community. 6 The legislative history and plain reading of the statute demonstrate that Congress intended a robust public interest review. 7 To satisfy this factor, the community would have to be better served after the merger than it was by the institutions prior. The analysis must be supported by clear, specific, forward-looking data and evidence—not exaggerated consultant drivel. The agency will weigh the impact of the deal on new and existing products and services, planned branch closures, the credibility of integration plans, past misconduct, and more. 8 Any claims and commitments made by the applicant to demonstrate that the transaction clears this threshold may be placed in the order and enforced.

Finally, the agency is integrating the financial stability factor into the policy statement for the first time since it was added to the Bank Merger Act in 2010. After the 2008 financial crisis, Congress identified that the too-big-to-fail-banks that received bailouts were created by unchecked merger sprees in the decades prior. The FDIC will carefully evaluate the combined institution’s size, complexity, interconnectedness, critical functions or services, and other variables related to its systemic footprint in the U.S. banking system. Transactions involving or resulting in a large bank that has $100 billion or more in assets will receive heightened scrutiny, as these applications are far more likely to have financial stability deficiencies. 9

Now that we have completed our review of the bank merger framework and provided transparency as to how we evaluate applications against the statutory factors, it is critical we put these words to practice. We must also continue to learn from past mistakes, and conduct retrospective analyses at how banks, communities, and the market were impacted by past transactions.

In cases where competitive concerns are identified, Congress set a high bar for any positive impact on the convenience and needs of the community to outweigh the negative impact on competition. For example, that bar may be cleared if the target firm is expected to fail absent the deal (i.e., a failing firm defense).

The agency would expect that any divestures required in connection with the transaction be closed prior to the consummation of the merger and that the selling bank will neither enter into noncompete agreements with any employee of the divested entity nor enforce any existing noncompete agreements with any of those entities. In addition, the agency may request that a bank divesting or otherwise closing a branch in connection with the transaction waive any terms or conditions that preclude the ability of other banks to lease or purchase the property.

Over the past few decades, the focus on this statutory factor has been artificially narrowed into a Community Reinvestment Act rating check-the-box exercise. The CRA, which was passed after the Bank Merger Act, is a critical anti-redlining law. It asks a different question, however, than the forward-looking public interest threshold established by the convenience and needs prong of the BMA.

See for example, H. REP. NO. 86-1416 (1960).

The policy statement clarifies that the FDIC may require prior approval for additional branch closures beyond the planned closures outlined in the application. This would prevent a bait and switch.

Importantly, the fact that a combined firm might face a stronger regulatory framework or that the acquired assets would face a stronger regulatory framework following the transaction does not mean the deal satisfies the financial stability factor. Such an interpretation would read the financial stability factor out of the statute. Congress directed the banking agencies to both apply heightened financial stability safeguards to megabanks and consider the impact of mergers on U.S. financial stability.

Xanterra’s new general manager brings decades of experience to the table

Vicki Murphy has been part of hospitality management in Glacier National Park for more than 20 years. Stepping into the role of Xanterra’s general manager last year, she’s excited to continue facilitating great experiences for guests.  

Xanterra Travel Collection is Glacier’s concessioner and runs the lodges inside park boundaries, like the Many Glacier Hotel and Lake McDonald Lodge, among many others. The company also oversees the park’s famous Red Bus Tours. The company operates as a concessioner in many other national parks, including Yellowstone, Zion and the Grand Canyon.  

Murphy lights up with pride when talking about the different ways that Xanterra is part of Glacier.  

“I love the hotels and I love the park. And to be in a position now where I'm able to work with the National Park Service or the corporate office to support initiatives and changes ... To be able to see a need and work towards answering that need — I love that I get to I feel like I'm making a difference,” Murphy said.  

Murphy’s career in hospitality started south of the border. After graduating college, she was offered a job in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. It was hard to pass up, and in between enjoying the beautiful ocean and sunny weather — her mother would let her know of an open position for something in Northwest Montana, where her family is from. 

“I said, ‘I'm not doing winters. It's not going to happen.’ But she saw they were hiring what’s called snowbird position — it was summers in Glacier and winters in Phoenix. So I started working for Glacier Park Inc., which was the previous concessioner,” Murphy said. 

In 2014, the National Park Service ended its longstanding contract with Glacier Park Inc. and entered a 16-year contract with Xanterra to be the park’s concessioner, according to an article from the Daily Inter Lake in 2013. Murphy was hired by Xanterra after this switch and began working as director of lodging.  

“I was just super excited because the new contract with the park service had a lot of really big projects that were going to be happening in the hotels and just a lot of refurbishing and updating," Murphy said.  

There have been a lot of changes in Glacier since that contract switch, including an “overhaul” of many properties, which included needed updates to the lodges. Over the years, Murphy said she worked closely with the former Xanterra general manager, Marc Ducharme. So, even though there were some challenges in taking the new role, she said it felt like something she was very familiar with.  

“There was a lot to learn. I mean, I was lodging forever ... So now I’m learning more about the engineering, the environmental and the food and beverage departments and stuff, which has been awesome. It's been a lot of fun doing that,” Murphy said.  

The summer season in Glacier can feel like a whirlwind like it’s ending almost as soon as it begins. Murphy said the company is operating at 100% from day one until the season’s close but try to do as much as possible to prepare for next year.  

“We don't have a ton of time to get the hotels open. So, when we close in the fall, we are setting up as much as we can for the spring. Because in the fall, we know what staff will be there and the weather seems to be more predictable in the fall compared to the spring, right? So, we do a ton in the fall,” Murphy said.  

She said this work is made easier by many returning employees, and that Xanterra is “very fortunate” to have a lot of people on the team who have a long tenure with the company.  

“We do an impressive amount of work, and we accomplish an impressive amount of force with a really small team,” Murphy said.  

She said they are always impressed with the J1 employees, or international workers, who learn an immense amount before opening the doors to the public. Though they have to pass a basic language test before being hired, many learn English better on the job, in addition to learning operations.  

“We had some international students that have been here for like five years, they come back every year. So, it's been great to see where they started and where they're at,” Murphy said. “They just grow in customer service skills; their English skills and they know the property better and cash handling better as well.”  

There are a few projects Murphy is proud of from her first two years on the job. In addition to providing more mental health support for employees, she said an internship program partnering with universities across the country that offer culinary programs has been a highlight. Students can get experience cooking in a hospitality setting and are given additional industry training and the opportunity to take part in activities and outreach.  

“The hope is to continue to grow the program in the coming year and ideally attract students from Flathead Valley Community College and Blackfeet Community College,” she said.  

All-in-all, Murphy said she’s enjoyed stepping into the new position. Not only does she get the perk of driving the Going-to-the-Sun Road often, but she also gets to work with a great team at Xanterra.  

For her, team building is one of the most important aspects of her job. 

“Whether it's learning development, throwing axes, or going to a baseball game, I just love keeping that community together. And being able to be the one that's like, ‘Hey, like it's a beautiful day, let's go and have our executive meeting outside at Gunsight Saloon or something like that ... 2024 Ford Excursion Review: Everything We Know So Far

2024 Ford Excursion Citing the NYTimes that Micheline Maynard said Ford Motor Company has decided not to build the second generation of the Excursion sports car, which is seven feet tall and can accommodate a softball team, people close to Ford’s future product program said tonight.

The Excursion, cited by critics as the industry’s most visible symbol of sports vehicle excellence, is expected to be discontinued at the end of the 2004 model year, meaning it will only last a generation. The Excursion was introduced in 1999 as a 2000 model year vehicle.

Sarah Tatchio, a Ford spokeswoman, declined to confirm whether the company would drop the 19-foot vehicle, which gets 10 miles per gallon, is too long to fit in many garages, and takes up two conventional city parking lots.

”I can’t talk about the future like that,” Ms. Tatchio. ”The Excursion is part of our lineup for ’03 and that’s all I can say.” The final report on the Excursion appeared tonight on WDIV-TV in Detroit. Some industry analysts have also projected Excursion’s eventual demise.

2024 Ford Excursion Review: Close to Ending

Ford introduced the $45,000 Excursion in a bid to seize sales from the industry’s perennial leader in the extra-large sports car market, the Chevrolet Suburban. By the time it was conceived, the Detroit automaker was enjoying strong sales and healthy profits for sports vehicles.

“Detroit is absolutely crazy when it comes to trucks,” said Christopher Cedergren, managing director of Nextrend, a consulting firm based in Thousand Oaks, California. “They thought if it was a truck, it would sell and make a lot of money.”

Ford’s expectations were relatively modest, however. Given that Suburban sales reach 100,000 per year, it is expected to sell at least 50,000 Visits per year. It’s estimated the vehicle, based on the Ford F-series Super Duty pickup, could complete a lineup of vehicles including the Ford Explorer and Ford Expedition, which look tiny by comparison.

But the Excursions stumbled from the start, in part due to a wave of negative publicity fanned by environmental groups like the Sierra Club. Even before the Excursion was officially introduced, the group held a contest on its Web site to choose a nickname for the vehicle. The winner was the Ford Valdez, after the Exxon tanker that ran aground in Alaska.

Tonight, Carl Pope, executive director of the Sierra Club, lauds the delayed demise of the Excursion. “I think this is a sign that the age of dinosaurs is coming to an end,” he said.

The introduction of Excursion comes less than a year after William Clay Ford Jr., an acclaimed environmentalist, and great-grandson of the company’s founder, became chairman in 1998. Ford found itself in the awkward position of having to justify the vehicle, which the Sierra Club argues will emit 130 tonnes of carbon dioxide over its lifetime, compared to 23 for a conventional car.

However, Mr. Ford, who became chief executive last year, defended the Excursion, arguing it had received a “rap bum.” He pointed to the $15,000 potential profit that Ford hopes each vehicle will generate, even while acknowledging that Ford relies too much on truck sales.

But instead of the expected result, industry analysts say Ford is likely to lose money on the Excursion. It would need to sell around 40,000 a year to break even. In the first half of this year, Ford sold 15,107 Excursions, down 16 percent from its 2001 pace, meaning it is likely to sell only about 30,000 this year.

Mr. Pope said, ”William Clay Ford will come down as smart enough to kill the Excursion before it became Edsel” referring to Ford’s unpopular cars in the late 1950s.

In fact, the Excursion’s lack of market success was the main reason why Ford discontinued the Excursion, not criticism from environmentalists, said Michael Luckey, president of the Luckey Consulting Group in Pompton Plains, NJ.

While Ford recently ended a streak of losses by posting modest second-quarter profits, it has warned investors to expect losses for the third quarter and has embarked on a strong cost-cutting campaign. Ford recently announced it would discontinue the Lincoln Blackwood luxury pickup truck, which was on sale for less than nine months.

‘They saw everything with a fine-toothed comb,’ said Mr. Luckey. “If Ford makes $4 billion to $5 billion a year, it might last into the next generation.”

Mr. Luckey said the eventual disappearance of the Excursion didn’t mean Americans were completely bored with sport utility vehicles, just that they had more options. Some vehicles have three rows of seats, one of the Excursion’s main selling points, but are easier to maneuver, he said.

”SUVs are going to be very popular, but as far as bigger is better, this could be a sign that people have said enough is enough,” Mr. Luckey said.

New Ford Excursion

No matter what the advantages of the new Ford Excursion–and there are many–sufficient people seem to have trouble seeing through the mass of this thing. Some of these same people caused a huge stir when Ford’s new empire-size utility vehicle – now the absolute king of motorized mastodons – was unveiled earlier this year.

They describe the Excursion as an unmitigated threat to smaller vehicles and, with an unlikely fuel economy of 18 mpg, spewing out serious carbon dioxide – a so-called greenhouse gas – despite the Excursion’s Low-Emission Vehicle status.

To be sure, there is no denying the dimensions of the Excursion. At 226.7 inches by 80.0 inches by 77.4 inches (including roof rack), it is 7.2 inches longer, 3.3 inches wider, and between 5.4 and 5.8 inches taller than General Motors Suburban today. It’s also heavier, with curb weights meeting the four-ton border.

But let’s get a little perspective here. The Excursion is one big bopper, sure, but the Suburban is no ghost, and the full-size sports utility market has been cornered for about 65 years.

Although Ford took part in the full-size SUV business with the Expedition and the Lincoln Navigator, Suburban sales continued to soar, surpassing 150,000 last year. Ford executives could see no reason to allow GM to define and dominate the ever-expanding segment.

“It’s basically been a one-vehicle segment for a long time,” said Ford Division president Jim O’Connor. “That’s unheard of in this business.”

Ford’s entry into the mastodon market was driven by several interesting motives. First, the Expedition/Navigator program, which surpassed Ford’s wildest dreams, proved that the market for large sports utilities still had considerable growth potential.

People want big tools for heavy tasks, like towing, that smaller ones can’t handle, or can’t handle either. The Expedition’s upper towing limit, for example, is 8300 pounds; A properly equipped excursion can tow trailers weighing up to 10,000. The same goes for Suburban.

Second, there is money to be made from an expensive large SUV based on a large volume pickup. Financial analysts calculate that each Navigator earns nearly $15,000 for FoMoCo. It is not unreasonable to assume that each Excursion will contribute nearly as much cash as the company’s profits. You don’t make that much money on Escorts, guys. Or in Explorer.

There is some other irony associated with Excursion’s initial reaction. Despite being heavier, the Excursion’s dimensions are about the same as Ford’s largest Econoline van, the kind of vehicle that has so far failed to spark its fair share of outrage among self-appointed environmental ombudsmen.

In this case, there’s a Ford full-size pickup whose roots are half as long as the Excursion. Where were these people when the civil edition of the AM General Hummer came along? Of course, the Sierra Club isn’t after companies that sell only a handful of vehicles for $70,000 to $85,000.

Speaking of safety, one of the main concerns of the anti-ute hysteria is what happens when a giant SUV, with its high ground clearance, crashes into a regular passenger car. We think Ford has a pretty good answer in Excursion’s patented BlockerBeam system, a tubular steel fixture that mounts under and behind the front bumper.

If or when hard contact occurs, the beam is designed to prevent the Excursion from rising and passing smaller vehicles. At the rear, the modified Class IV trailer hitch serves the same function.

The Excursion can accommodate up to 165 cubic feet of the car with the middle seats folded forward and the rear seats removed. Thanks to a pair of rollers, one person can manage the removal task, even if you have to crawl in to lift the base free of the hooks.

There’s room for four by eight feet of building material everywhere on a nearly level floor, though there’s a spare tire inside (which helps make room for the 44-gallon fuel tank).

Behind the flashy facade of the Oxnard, California store, Howard Becker turned ordinary SUVs and vans into ultraluxe transportation for the likes of Edgar Bronfman Jr., Tiger Woods, and King Abdullah of Jordan. His clients wanted Rolls-Royce or Maybach gear but preferred to do so unnoticed, the cars tended to be interesting—at least for some time.

Hardly anything fits into the crowd more easily than the usual Ford Excursion platform or E-350 Super Duty van-Becker—but nothing out of the ordinary with the interior. The typical layout of the convertible SUV calls for the elimination of the second and third-row seats, replaced by two large seats and up to three rear-facing jump seats, all upholstered in high-grade leather.

Beautifully finished wood trim accents the cabin. The large flat-screen monitor doubles as a divider that can be raised and lowered, and can be connected to entertainment systems and computers. The satellite link, wireless keyboard, telephone, and foldable desk allow for full connectivity during travel.

For relaxation, the chairs recline fully and CDs and DVDs provide entertainment. (With the advent of Wi-Fi networks, in-car entertainment options are expanding. We’ll soon be able to enjoy media downloads from our home computers.) Thanks to exclusive suspension modifications, the SUV’s ride quality is much better than we nightly hoped for, and there’s no way we’ll flinch.

Wake up from a nap. Vans – generally Ford or Mercedes-Benz Sprinter – offer more space and flexibility – individual chairs or sofas, for example. And because they are more fashionable than SUVs, vans can also achieve a lower profile.

Different levels of stealthiness can be achieved. Leave the exterior of the Excursion or GMC Denali completely stock and neither will be the wiser. Define an all-black exterior with custom wheels and roof-mounted satellite gear and other motorists will notice. Most Becker cars fall somewhere in the middle.

The importance of stealth often hinges on our security concerns. Becker’s priority was to create an environment that felt as normal as possible.

Touches such as fully operational windows all around mean that adults feel less claustrophobic and children may not even notice they are driving an armored car. We think the armored Excursion feels heavier than a standard car and isn’t quite as restrictive as some of the armored sedans on the market today.

Wild Ford Excursion Lambo Doors

Ford Excursion Costing $135,000 to build this heavily modified one will have shag carpet and a bed in the back. But not. Instead, you’ll find a 60-inch curved Samsung TV — and two smaller ones embedded in the exposed tailgate of the Ford.

But those are just a few of the many upgrades Franklin Williams of Onslow County, North Carolina, has made to his SUV, which is the featured vehicle in the new Barcroft Cars YouTube video.

Williams bought the 2003 Excursion about 10 years ago to haul work equipment before it became a family vehicle. However, one day his son suggested they turn it into a show truck, and that’s exactly what Williams did, starting five years ago with a simple lift and 20-inch tires.

Currently, the Excursion has a 19-inch lift, 42-inch tires, and 30-inch rims, which are secured with specially honed wheel nuts to deter thieves.

The raised suspension and gold accents on the white exterior are sure to catch the eye, as are the scissor doors – the “Lambo” – too. They are still stock ones, but they have modified hinges and lift assemblies.

Williams took three days to get it fit, but they’re open to reveal a completely renovated interior, with crocodile and ostrich skin used throughout. There are also more TVs – one on each door and a sun visor. It has an improved sound system too.

Ford is covered in custom parts, such as the grille and bumper, badges, and even the headlights, which have “Sexcursion” engraved on their lenses. There’s also a custom five-inch TSO exhaust tip, which helps the under-hood 6.0-liter diesel breathe.

Williams also reached speeds of up to 125 miles per hour (201 kilometers per hour). Gold accents also go into the engine room. Excursion Williams is almost 20 years old but seems to have a bright future as an amazing show truck. It has won more than 100 awards.

Ford Excursion Price

An SUV or Becker van with all the luxuries and protective options can run up to $365,000, about the price of an unmodified Rolls-Royce Phantom or Maybach. Unarmed examples usually sell for north of $200,000.

The Washington Commanders are celebrating after a 21-18 win, and wide receiver Noah Brown can walk away from the game knowing he left his mark.

In one of the biggest plays on the final drive, Jayden Daniels found Noah Brown for a 34-yard catch that got the Commanders across midfield.

“We had a three-minute concept, front-side over to the left, and defense covered that really well and was able to get back to the end cut with Noah," Daniels said postgame. "We kind of hit it earlier in the game when he made a nice catch for slide, and he was able to win that route. I got the time needed, and he was able to beat the safety with the ball, and he took it from there.”

The catch marked Brown's third of the game, landing him with 56 receiving yards on the day. It's not the flashiest stat line of Brown's career, but it was crucial.

“It felt good, that’s what I expected out of myself though you know," Brown said. "I am a professional and I’ve been in this league for a while and when my number is called I try to execute and I did a good job of that today.”

The Commanders have been waiting for their receivers to step up in the early part of the season, and now that Brown is getting situated in Washington, he appears to be on the road towards becoming a big part of the offense.

Last year I was working on an article about foreign fighters and volunteers in Ukraine . The piece focused on people who were not qualified to be allowed anywhere near the battlefield in a U.S.-led war and yet were fighting on the front against Russia, with access to weapons and military equipment.

Among the people I interviewed: Ryan Wesley Routh, the 58-year-old man whom the F.B.I. is investigating in what it is calling an assassination attempt against former President Donald J. Trump on Sunday.

I was put in touch with Mr. Routh through an old colleague and friend from Kabul, Najim Rahim. Through the strange nexus of combatants as one war ended and another began, he had learned of Mr. Routh from a source of his in Iran, a former Afghan special operations soldier who was trying to get out of Iran and fight in Ukraine.

Mr. Routh, who had spent some time in Ukraine trying to raise support for the war, was seeking recruits from among Afghan soldiers who fled the Taliban. And so the former Afghan soldier reckoned Mr. Routh could get him to the Ukrainian front. (Anything, even war, was better than the conditions in Iran for Afghans after the Taliban retook Kabul in August of 2021.)

There were a few complications. Mr. Routh, a former construction worker from Greensboro, N. C., said he never fought in Ukraine himself — he was too old and had no military experience.

But like many foreign volunteers who showed up at Ukraine’s border in the war’s early months, he was eager to cast aside his former life for something far more exciting and make a name for himself.

“In my opinion everyone should be there supporting the Ukrainians,” he told me, his voice urgent, exasperated and a little suspicious over the phone.

When I talked to Mr. Routh in March of last year, he had compiled a list of hundreds of Afghans spread between Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan whom he wanted to fly, somehow, to Ukraine. Mr. Routh told one Afghan he was helping: “I am just a civilian.”

My conversation with Mr. Routh was brief. He was in Washington, D.C., he said, and had planned for a two-hour meeting with some congressmen about Ukraine. (It’s unclear if that meeting ever happened.)

By the time I got off the phone with Mr. Routh some minutes later, it was clear he was in way over his head.

He talked of buying off corrupt officials, forging passports and doing whatever it took to get his Afghan cadre to Ukraine, but he had no real way to accomplish his goals. At one point he mentioned arranging a U.S. military transport flight from Iraq to Poland with Afghan refugees willing to fight.

I shook my head. It sounded ridiculous, but the tone in Mr. Routh’s voice said otherwise. He was going to back Ukraine’s war effort, no matter what.

Like many of the volunteers I interviewed, he fell off the map again. Until Sunday.

It was a very domestic picture, and the pair looked relaxed, which was surprising because mass flooding was surrounding Jeremy’s Louisiana home, which the couple didn’t seem too worried about.

Fortunately for the rest of us, this has resulted in some very non-celebrity photos. Instead of Lana looking posed and aspirational, she’s hanging out on a balcony, looking chill.

So, who is this normal man that Lana has landed? Jeremy is reportedly in his late forties, has three children, and is the captain of a Louisiana tour boat exploring local wildlife. Yes, that involves alligators.

Lana confirmed their romance when she brought Jeremy as her date to Karen Elson’s wedding to Lee Foster, who owns Electric Lady Studios in New York City.

The new couple matched. She stunned in a light blue gown, and he wore a blue suit. They held hands as they walked into the venue together.

The duo had known each other since at least March 2019, when Lana shared a photo to her Facebook account alongside Dufrene after taking one of his airboat tours.

It is unclear when things turned romantic, but Lana does have a history of dating men who aren’t famous. She previously dated police officer Sean Larkin.

She’s also dated famous people, though, like rapper G-Eazy and musician Jack Donoghue.

As you can imagine, the sheer randomness of Lana’s dating a captain from Louisiana has completely thrilled people online. When a celebrity dates a normal person, it does give everyone some hope.
