Casino Dealer Job Description and Duties:

- Reports to the ship's Casino Senior Supervisor and does not have supervisory responsibilities

- Responsible for a proper conduct of various table games - Baccarat, Roulette, Black Jack, Let It Ride, Caribbean Stud Poker, Dice and others

- Monitor all players around the table in order to identify their individual playing style and to avoid cheating.

- In cases when a suspicious behaviour is detected he /she is obliged to notify the management as well as the ship's security personnel

- In case of dispute with a passenger, the duty of the Casino Dealer is to try to resolve the situation in a polite and professional manner and would refer to the superiors only escalating complaints

- Exchanges casino chips and tokens for money, announces the exchanges and updates clicker counting device to record the cash intake

- Ensures that players are informed about the rules of the game, all wagers are placed before the start of the game then performs the game, announces all winning hands and bets, pays winning bets and collects losing bets

- When assigned by the Casino Manager , he / she would take part in the casino cash and coins count

- Must be well groomed, keep presentable personal appearance and follow company guidelines regarding uniforms and personal hygiene

- The Casino Dealers on some cruise ships may be required to participate in passenger and crew safety drills as well as meeting passengers during embarkation and attending company meetings and training activities

Croupier / Casino Dealer Job Requirements:

High school diploma or basic education equivalent

College or university degree is preferred

Minimum one year Casino Dealer experience in a licensed casino conducting Blackjack and Roulette games, proficiency in other games is a plus

Some cruise lines and concessions running casinos aboard cruise ships require diploma from approved casino dealer school, others don't

Candidates must be able to differentiate very quickly the numbers on cards, dice, wheels and determine the outcome of the game

Excellent communication skills and good command of the English language are required, knowledge of additional languages is a plus

Previous cruise ship experience is an asset, but is not mandatory

Casino Dealer / Croupier Salary Range:

$2700-3600 U.S. per month, depending on the cruise line, commission and size of the ship. Possibilities for promotion to Assistant Casino Casino Manager position.

Practically all the major cruise lines (and many small cruise lines) operate a casino onboard their vessels. Casinos on cruise ships feature numerous slot machines and table games that include Blackjack, Roulette, Dice, and various Poker games.

The Casino on board a cruise ship offers numerous positions. Some cruise lines hire in-house for their casino jobs while others use a concessionaire for recruiting and also managing their casino.

Cruise ship jobs in the casino include Dealer, Cashier, Casino Host, Slot Technician, and supervisors. Dealers are required to have at least one year’s experience in a licensed casino and Cashiers are required to have a cashiering background in bank, casino, or other high-volume cash handling experience. The Casino Host position requires table games experience as well as excellent sales/marketing and communication skills. The minimum requirement for a Slot Technician Trainee is at least six months in an electrical / mechanical field.

Getting a job as cruise Casino Staff will mean that you will most likely have similar requirements that a regular casino would have. You will have to be at least 21 years old, and will need to meet other requirements related to the specific position.

Dealers will need to have at least one year of previous experience and must be familiar with at least two games. Slot managers need to have a minimum of three years’ experience, and Slot Technicians and Trainees are required to have at least six months of experience.

Casino Staff enjoy some of the best benefits on a cruise ship because the casino is often closed while the ship is in port. This lets them see the various port cities of the world, while other cruise positions will be required to stay on board – at least some of their port time. Positions include:

Star Cruises is a large cruise line operator in the South East Asian region.

Company Background

The company is owned by Genting Hong Kong Limited (which was known previously by its company name Star Cruises Limited). Its change in company name is reflective of its diversification into land based leisure activities. The Genting Group also own a 50% share of Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL), along with Apollo Management and TPG. Star Cruises together with NCL represents the third largest cruise line in the world.

As well as excelling in the cruise line industry, the Genting Group is also a dominant player in the land based leisure, entertainment and hospitality industry. World Manila Resort, its first flagship joint project with the Alliance Global Group, has made a successful entry into the land based entertainment industry. The Resort is comprised of a range of hotels and restaurants, shopping mall, cinema complexes, performing arts theatre and a casino.

As a person who has traveled on the Superstar Leo and Virgo, I experienced first hand the friendly and relaxed atmosphere on board. I found that the staff consistently provided great customer service, no matter what activity or what time of the day it was. As well as working hard and being diligent in their duties, employees also appeared to enjoy the camaraderie with their colleagues, and had fun on the job.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

• Proof of completion of Gaming Board and/or Commission approved dealer school or international equivalency
• Conducts all Casino table games according to established guidelines and procedures.
• Exchanges paper currency for playing chips or tokens and announces the exchanges
• Ensures that wagers are placed before table gaming proceeds, such as cards are dealt, roulette wheel is spun, or dice are tossed
• Accurately maintains the handling of cards, dice, chips, money and other gaming equipment at an appropriate rate to maintain the proper pace of the game
• Informs players of the rules and regulations as the game progresses.

Minimum Requirements:

• Two years dealer experience conducting Blackjack, Dice, American Roulette, Caribbean Stud Poker and various other casino games
• Ability to rapidly discern the numbers on dice, cards, wheels, etc. and determine the outcome of the game
• Ability to communicate tactfully with guests, department heads and shipboard employees to resolve problems
• Ability to stand for an extended period of time
• Ability to read, write and speak English clearly and distinctly
• All international applicants must have the ability to obtain C1/D1 visa  (and other relevant visas) when applicable
• Must meet all physical requirements, including the ability to participate in emergency life-saving drills and required training
