What Makes This Tour Great

If you have an evening free or are simply looking for a romantic and educational alternative to going out to dinner, I highly encourage checking this tour out! Starting at 5pm, this 2-hour experience is an elegant way to learn and sample some of France’s best wine.

With an expert sommelier there to guide you, you and your small group will go through a wine tasting while they help you identify tasting notes, compare and contrast the wine, and learn how to properly taste wine.

I went on this one with a friend who knew next to nothing about wine, and now when we go out, she likes to share her newly-gained knowledge and skills with the table.

It’s a comfortable setting with welcoming staff who are more than happy to share their knowledge while you enjoy fresh bread, cheese, and/or charcuterie. It’s also a nice activity to partake in before a full dinner, if that sounds more up your alley.

Instead of driving out there yourself, sit back and relax in a comfy van while watching the rolling hills go by as your guide regales you with fascinating stories about the region!

Expect to see plenty of historic sites, including the impressive Abbey Saint-Pierre d’Hautvillers, Cathedral of Reims, and much more!

As a history nerd AND wine aficionado, I knew I couldn’t pass up this incredible day out in the famed French wine region, Champagne. The transfer by van was super convenient and comfortable, listening to our guide tell us about the rich winemaking heritage here.

I loved our guided tour of the impressive Nicolas Feuillatte estate, known for its meticulous production methods and exceptional sparkling wines. From vineyards to cellars, we got to see more about the artistry and craftsmanship that define this celebrated brand.

One of the highlights for me was seeing the UNESCO World Heritage site of Abbaye Saint-Pierre d’Hautvillers, where Dom Perignon lived in the 1600s, and where he was laid to rest.

The Reims cathedral was particularly gorgeous, with amazing stone carvings both inside and out, and plenty of time to explore on our own after our guided tour. After, check out Champagne DOMI for another in-depth wine tasting and adventuring before following it up with a guided tour of Epernay’s old town and lunch!

  • Start Time(s) : 10:30, 11:30 AM or 2:30, 4:00 PM
  • What’s Included : Alcoholic Beverages, Wine tasting, Food tasting such as macarons, cheeses and cured meats, Local guide, Small group tour

Montmartre is one of the most interesting neighborhoods in Paris, which is really saying a lot! Known for being an artist haven, it’s filled with creativity and culture around every corner.

However, it’s also one of the best foodie spots, and the Montmartre Hill French Gourmet Food and Wine Tasting Walking Tour highlights all the very best it has to offer!

The journey starts out with your guide leading you and your small group around the cobblestone streets, learning about the history of the area relating back to food and wine as you go.

Savor up to 10 pre-selected gourmet stops, showcasing artisanal cheeses, cured meats, chocolates, and of course: plenty of exquisite wines! Along the way, uncover hidden gems that you’d likely miss, otherwise, along with landmarks like the Moulin Rouge and Sacre-Coeur.

With an intimate setting and knowledgeable guides, you’ll get to see this neighborhood from the eyes of a local.

What I love about this tour is that it feels like such a quintessential “Parisian” experience – no cookie-cutter, touristy stuff. Rather, it allows you to see the way gastronomy, good wine, and artistry converge in a charming atmosphere filled to the brim with history and bohemian intrigue.

Our guide did a fantastic job of showing us hidden gems that most people visiting don’t get to see, along with the biggest landmarks, checking them off our list.

My favorite part was the cream puff tasting aside from the amazing wine and cheese we indulged in, though every shop was surprisingly delicious. I can honestly say there’s no way I would’ve known about 99% of them had it not been for our guide!

All in all, you’ll have an experience filled with delicious treats, as well as learning about flavors, history, and the timeless allure of Paris.

5. Paris Le Marais District Original Food and Wine Tasting Tour

wine tours paris reviews

  • Where You Will Meet : 40 Rue de Bretagne, 75003 Paris
  • Tour Length : 3.5 hours
  • Start Time(s) : 10:30 AM, 4:00 PM
  • What’s Included : Food tastings such as chocolate, macarons, cheeses, and cured meat, Alcoholic Beverages, Wine tasting, Local guide, Small group tour

The Paris Le Marais District Original Food and Wine Tasting Tour actually reminds me quite a bit of the previous tour, just obviously in another neighborhood. Le Marais has quite the interesting background, and happens to be one of the trendiest in all of Paris, currently.

It’s very easy to fit into even the busiest of itineraries, considering it’s less than 4 hours long, and offers both morning and afternoon start times.

With an expert guide to lead the way, you’ll be introduced to up to 10 reputable local food vendors and artisans, with each offering their own special take on Parisian wine and food.

From exploring the historic Marche des Enfants Rouges – Paris’s oldest covered market – to savoring some of the best wine and snacks in the city, you’ll be going on a sensory feast amid the charming streets and landmarks.

From delectable pastries to savory cheeses, you’ll also learn about local dishes and ingredients, with your guide there to teach you. Expect plenty of recommendations from them for when you’re done with the tour, too!

First off, I have to say that the guide I had on this tour was one of the most fun, engaging, and knowledgeable I’ve had the pleasure of encountering. We tasted foods and wine that we otherwise wouldn’t have, learning a lot that your standard tour wouldn’t have provided.

I’d been wanting to explore the covered market but didn’t want to go it without a local, so being able to wander around and see all the different stands and fresh food!

Take some time off of the regular beaten tourist path, you’ll see local bakeries, chocolatiers, and many other traditional shops. I also tried some of the best wine and jam I’ve had in France, and the general atmosphere of this neighborhood was so contagious and made the tour fly by.

6. Champagne Small-Group Wine Day Trip with Wine Tastings and Lunch

wine tours paris reviews

  • Where You Will Meet : Hotel pickup and drop-off included
  • What’s Included : Roundtrip transportation, transport by air-conditioned minivan, guided visits of 2 Champagne houses, wine tastings, gourmet lunch

Indulge in a full day of opulence with the Champagne Small-Group Wine Day Trip with Wine Tastings and Lunch experience designed for connoisseurs and casual enthusiasts, alike.

The journey begins with a scenic drive from Paris to the prestigious Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne house, where you’ll tour the vineyards and cellars with professionals there to share valuable information about the history and art of champagne production.

Engage in a guided tasting of some of the best champagnes, while you learn about the differences between each one, like the tasting notes.

After this, savor a tasty lunch expertly paired with a selection of fine wines in a beautiful setting, chatting about the experience so far. You’ll also visit picturesque villages in this region, which had some of the coolest architecture I’d seen in France!

Our small group only made it more intimate, feeling like it was just a group of old friends discovering this magical place for the first time.

As much as I absolutely love Paris, after a few days, I was really craving a little escape from the hustle and bustle. This tour offered a lovely respite into the calm and beautiful Champagne region, filled with rolling hills and picturesque estates that feel like a fairytale.

At the renowned Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne house, where I felt like I learned a ton about the art of producing the bubbly beverage.

My favorite part of the tour was visiting their cellars, where their winemakers taught us about how they make their complex sparkling wines. Followed by a tasting that showcases the complexity of their offerings, I discovered a few new favorites!

After that, we had a delicious lunch comprised of iconic local dishes, following it up with guided explorations through little villages, too!

7. Paris Art of Pairing Cheese and Wine Tasting in a Cheese Cellar

wine tours paris reviews

  • Where You Will Meet : 41 Rue du Faubourg du Temple, 75010 Paris
  • Tour Length : 1.5 hous
  • Start Time(s) : 11:00 AM, 4:30 PM
  • What’s Included : Professional and friendly cheese and wine master, tastings of 7 cheeses and 3 wines, bread

Perhaps you’d like to experience Parisian cheeses and wine and learn from the best, but either don’t have the time for a longer tour, or want to stay on a tight budget.

Whatever the case may be, the Paris Art of Pairing Cheese and Wine Tasting in a Cheese Cellar is right up your alley. Located right in the center of Paris, it’s super easy to get to, no matter where you are in the city!

I had my reservations about how much a tour of 1.5 hours could really show me, but I was pleasantly surprised. We covered an impressive tasting of 7 different cheeses and 3 wines, with a cheese and wine master there to lead us.

They taught us the differences between each cheese and wine, sharing how each one was made, and what makes them unique. With a small group that maxes out at just 12 participants, creating an intimate and fun setting ideal for learning and enjoying.

If you have a bit of time, I highly recommend this wonderful excursion that focuses on delicious cheeses and wines, and how to pair them. I’m personally a cheese lover  and  wine lover, but wasn’t very knowledgeable about the former.

This tour did a great job explaining the nuances between the different cheese varieties, from creamy Camembert to robust Roquefort, while learning about the subtleties of wine to complement them perfectly.

It was an entire experience having to put on a protective suit to head down into the cellar to ensure we kept their delicate cheeses safe from harm.

I saw massive wheels of cheese, entertaining myself while listening about the art of cheesemaking and how important it’s been throughout history. Even if you have a busy day, I can’t recommend this fun little tour enough!

Luiz was hands down the best tour guide I have ever had. He is patient, kind and incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. We took the Burgundy tour first. We stopped at a larger producer to have whites, went on to have a fabulous lunch with fresh cheeses and salad, tried wines from the barrel at different stages and then headed to some caves at a smaller producer that had a lovely combination of reds and whites. Our tour was so perfect we engaged him for a second tour, of Reims and Champagne region. Luiz took us to the historical Notre Dame of Reims where we got a little history lesson and then off to a larger facility that produces champagne (Mumm) where we got a very in depth tour and background of how traditional champagne is made. The highlight was a stop for a toast in some vineyards with a special bottle he selected of one of his favorites. At our last stop, Robert Allait we were able to try a variety of champagnes. Both tours were a highlight of our whole trip because of Luiz. He is passionate about what he does, thoughtful and a wonderful educator. My friends and I are trying to figure out how to take him on a trip to Italy .

I booked a private day trip to Champagne region with Luiz in Jan. Wow! Wow! First off communication was easy, I exchanged several emails and booked directly on his website. Luiz went above and beyond for us. He made sure my friend & I had a great trip. During the drive we talked in great length about all the difference wine regions. We visited a large Champagne house and a smaller house. I had very specific requirement and he meet every single one of them.

I posted this review on Tripadvisor, and here too: My husband and I were in Paris for a week, and we found about Luiz/Luis/Louis (not sure of the spelling)'s tours from Tripadvisor. I signed up for all three tours to Burgundy, Loire Valley, and Champagne. Booking was super easy via email, and we even got a discount for booking all three. The meet up location was easily off the 5 line at Place d'Italie (pardon my spelling!). Luiz is the most humble and knowledgeable person to have as your tour guide. He was a lawyer turned into a trained wine guide. He genuinely enjoys wine and wants to learn more and teach others about it. He's got a past in Italy, Brazil, United Kingdom and now France so he's definitely been around wine! I honestly think this was the best way to get to all three of these regions from Paris. Though the drives are 2.5 hours (max), the visits to the regions and the wineries explored really gave us an idea of how French wine differs. I never felt like he was too salesy and I often saw his relationships with wine makers to be friendly as if we were just visiting every winemaker who he knows in France. It was super nice, and I enjoyed the thoughtful choices on large and small wineries, and restaurants. I enjoyed all three tours equally (even though I thought I was going to like Champagne the most!). At the end of our three days (booked throughout the week), he even gave us a bottle as a thank you. Such a nice gesture that goes a long way. We hope to keep in touch with such a wonderful man, and wish him the best with his business!

There was no shortage of champagne, food, scenery, conversation or fun during this lovely day. Luiz is a fantastic host and lead us to authentic and beautiful locations. I highly recommend this tour.

Two years ago, my husband and I went on a tour of the Champagne region with Luiz. We had a wonderful time! He is very knowledgeable and a wonderful host. We felt like we were touring with a friend. We visited Paris again, so I contacted Luiz for another tour, this time to Burgundy. And this tour was just a great as the first one. Luiz doesn't take you to big wineries where you're hustled through by a tour guide. He takes you to smaller wineries where you get to talk to the owner and winemakers. He knows the people who work at the wineries, and because of that, we got the intimate VIP experience. On this tour, Luiz shared his knowledge of wine by suggesting that I age one of the bottles I bought. He gave us a yummy treat when we arrived in Chablis and shared a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc with us. I highly recommend Luiz's tours. His knowledge of wine and of the area, his choice of small, intimate wineries, and his awesome hospitality can't be beat!

We booked a wine tasting with Luis through AirBnB and we had SUCH an enjoyable time! Luiz is the perfect combo of friendly and knowledgeable, and we learned so much about Paris, cheese, and wine. Would recommend to everyone!!

If you're a fan of French bread and pastry, 2-Hour Behind the Scenes Bakery Tour, you will be fascinated to see how it's all made.  In this kid-friendly experience, you get to go into the kitchen of a top Paris bakery, where the host will show you the all the different mixers, equipment, and the super-high quality ingredients from different parts of France.  As they go about their regular work, the bakers will demonstrate all the steps and techniques for making baguettes, croissants, tarts, and other goodies.

Highlights:  You'll get to do a few things yourself!

Bonus:   You start your experience with a breakfast of croissants and pain au chocolat at the bakery.  When you leave, you get a fresh-baked baguette to take with you.

"So much fun!  We were thrilled to get an insider's view of a real Paris bakery."     ~ Albert & Jean

15.  Explore Paris's Marche d'Aligre: 3 Markets in 1!

Fresh produce at Marché d'Aligré, with part of the Aligré flea market in the background

Discover Paris's Marché d'Aligre 2-Hour Market Tour unknown to many tourists, where you'll discover and explore one of the city's most sprawling and interesting market areas.  Your guide will lead you through Aligre's three markets:  an indoor covered market packed with specialty products, an outdoor area where vendors display a vast selection of fresh produce, and finally, one of the city's most popular flea markets where you can look for (and maybe find) a vintage treasure.

This tour is for you if:  You want to get off the well-beaten tourist path and explore an authentic part of the "real" Paris.

Bonus:   You get to taste a variety of specialty foods, and sip mint tea in a corner cafe.

Pamela:  "I felt immersed in real Parisian life in this market - fantastic experience."
