The Paradise Tour was the second worldwide concert tour by Lana Del Rey , it was in support of her third EP, and second major-label release, Paradise . It began on April 3, 2013 , at Galaxie Mega Hall in Amnéville, France, and ended on October 18, 2014 , at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles, California.

In support of her then-upcoming release Paradise , on October 31, 2012, Del Rey announced European dates for her upcoming tour. [1] In early 2014 she announced a second leg for the tour with more dates in North America. [2] The second leg featured songs from Ultraviolence . Tour dates for various festival performances across the world and other miscellaneous concerts were announced at separate times.

An album containing 18 tracks created to aid the videographer leaked in full on October 15, 2020. The tracks are stem edits using studio vocals with added instrumentation from her touring band.

Set design of the first leg was created by Block9, a duo comprised of Gideon Berger and Stephen Gallagher. Inspiration was taken from her major-label debut Born to Die , and was described by themselves as "a world steeped in faded Hollywood glamour, with a subtle contemporary edge. A backdrop of golden, art deco windows act to frame to the specially commissioned re-edits of videos from the album, and a crumbling grand piano houses two midi-keyboards. Bespoke period chandelier and lighting fixtures are fitted with programmable LED’s allowing them to be integrated into the show and a pair of hand-sculpted lions sit as guardians at the edge of the stage. Completing the scene are six real, taxidermy crows that have raided Del Rey’s dressing table – the stolen jewels in their beaks catching the light." [3]

The stage set-up for the European leg of the tour from April to July 2013 also featured an on-stage orchestra and palm-tree props beside the large frame in the back of the stage. The frame served as a display screen for Del Rey's visual backdrop videos that changed as she performed different songs. The stage design for the American leg of the tour from April to May 2014 was differently set up, as it displayed a large throne behind Del Rey while retaining similar plant and palm tree props. Stage design varied for festival performances and various concerts.

Mark Wood, a lighting designer, toured with Del Rey for the 2013 European leg and 2014 North American leg. He controlled lighting and set design backstage. Wood also worked with Del Rey for her 2011 Born to Die Tour and 2015 Endless Summer Tour , as well as a few other appearances. [4] [5]

In early November we visited Santo and did the river kayak / Port Olry / Champagne Beach tour. Our guide David was absolutely fabulous, and my partner and I would be very happy to recommend him. David was knowledgeable, warm, helpful, and just a really interesting guy. We loved learning about Santo, and he also gave us great insight into some local customs and culture which was very interesting for us.The trip itself was well timed, and we never felt rushed. We did a kayak trip to Matevulu Blue Hole (that bit was with Alex from Island Time Kayak Tours), then we travelled on to Port Olry for lunch with David. After lunch we went on to Champagne Beach for a snorkel. David was very chilled out, and we felt like we had plenty of time to enjoy each place.Insider tip: make sure you do this trip when there are NO cruise ships, apparently you can check this with your booking agent before you go - we had each place almost to ourselves and it was absolutely magic.A huge THANK YOU to David and Paradise Tours!

We had an outstanding tour on a port day with Luke, the owner of Paradise Tours. He picked us up promptly from the pier in his van with A/C. He offers several tours, but we wanted an authentic experience in the Vanuatan culture outside Luganville. During the tour which lasted from 9am - 3pm, we drove through many coconut plantations in addition to other plantings (taro, pineapple, etc.). First he stopped at a river and then at a "blue hole", a lovely blue fresh water spring where you can swim. They have a Tarzan-like rope hanging from a tree for those who want to swing from the dock over the water and drop in, but there were also other places to get in and out. Then we drove to Port Orly Beach at the end of the island for lunch. Most of us ordered fresh lobster with "chips" (French fries) and a salad of grated papaya soaked in lime juice and coconut milk. Some folks went swimming at the beautiful beach right there while waiting for lunch to be cooked. Then we went to Champagne Beach where we snorkeled near a jetty and saw enough fish to make it worthwhile. On the way over and back Luke stopped at fruit stands to buy us fresh pineapple and bananas and we were able to talk to the locals. Luke was a wonderful guide - very kind and considerate, even handling an electric scooter in the back of the van, getting it in and out several times, so one of the group could enjoy the tour fully.

My experience on this journey was like something straight out of a movie. Everything about it was amazing including our guide Chris who was such a spectacular tour guide and a great person to be around. The location itself is very beautiful and magical with several waterfalls and no mosquito to be found. There is so much adventure to have including a 100% painless natural water slide, an exhilarating leap into the beautiful waters from a high ledge, and a daring rope swing that you can’t just go on once. Although this experience can be more on the wild side it does not have to be and you can take a more laid back approach and have just as good of a time with the beautiful sights and sounds that surrounds you. I highly recommend this amazing experience and hope you can have as much fun as I did, you’ll be glad you did.

Adriana was an amazing tour guide! We had a great time hiking through the forest. Our favorite part was the natural water slide, cliff jumping, and rope swing into the water. I am so glad my husband & I ran into Chris from Paradise Tours in PR. We had an amazing Snorkeling experience (They made sure I was safe, and patiently thought me how to go around snorkeling and enjoyed the great sights as I can’t really swim). This is a MUST DO when you are PR! We signed up at the last minute because we had an unexpected free day and this ended up as a highlight of our trip. Jan is super fun and informative; an absolutely amazing guide! It is an adventure tour, so prepare to come home tired (and muddy!) at the end of the day. It was a great value for the experience. Even with the adventurous nature, my two middle-school-aged kids were totally capable of participating in all of the fun. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We had the best time on this tour. Adriana was our tour guide and she was great. She told us a bunch of interesting facts about plants and wildlife at the rainforest and was just a very pleasant person to be around. Everything is as advertised, it’s really an adventurous adventure tour too. Would recommend and hopefully do it again some time!

We had Jan as our guide. He did an amazing job helping us navigate up and down the trails. He was knowledgeable of the area, did a great job answering any questions, and helped us have fun jumping, sliding and swimming in the area. He took pictures for us to help us capture our memories of the day.

This was our first time in Puerto Rico & the 2 morning we spent with Chris were the highlight of our trip. I was with my three children ages 12, 14, & 16 and we all had an absolute blast! We spent our first morning learning how to SUP for the first time. Chris was so patient and let everyone go at their own pace. He took us to a remote beach where we were able to find some beautiful conch shells to bring home with us. The second morning we spent at the rainforest relaxing in the natural pools, cliff diving, and going down natural water slides. I loved that Chris took safety very seriously and gave everyone the perfect amount of attention. This was so gorgeous and something I’ve never experienced before. We were the only people there so I loved the privacy. I don’t think we would have been able to enjoy Puerto Rico without these tours. Chris was the best! I highly recommend taking both tours and if we return to Puerto Rico Chris is on the top of my list to schedule our adventures.

We had a tour with Jan and he has incredible! Very informative, went at our pace, and gave us several options. He also took some of our favorite pictures on our entire trip! The hike itself wasn’t difficult but the terrain was a bit treacherous. Be prepared to scramble, get dirty, and wet in all the best ways (with areas to clean up of course). It’s also great to start at 8 am and have privacy before seeing tons of groups enter as we were leaving. 10/10 would recommend.

This tour was beyond AMAZING!!! I had so much fun with Chris and the other people along in our tour. I really loved how he stopped and took the time to explain to us the various plants and wild life along the way. He played a little trivia game with us along the way. It was refreshing to see someone really care about nature and want to preserve it. He also made sure we were safe at all times. He always offered his assistance to make sure we got through the trail smoothly. I absolutely recommend this tour and the tour guide to anyone who loves nature and wants to explore new things!!! After our tour he took us to a local food place; literally the best Mofongo I had the entire trip!! 10/10 would absolutely go on his tour again!!!

This was a wonderful adventure! Chris was able to spot out pieces of the rainforest that one would not originally notice. His genuine care for our safety as well as adventure on the trip was admirable. This was a nice escape from a larger crowd and has me still smiling thinking about it (8 hours later) thank you Chris!

Can’t say enough good things about Jan and Paradise Tours. This was hands down one of our favorite experiences on our vacation. The scenery was amazing, the slide and jumps/rope swing were a blast, and it was nice to learn more about Puerto Rico and the rainforest on the educational portion. Paradise Tours PR is hands down the best! As we were ending our tour we saw many other companies with very large groups and it looked awful to be a part of such a large group. Tavricheskiy Palace

Tavricheskiy - or "Tauride" - Palace is one of the largest and most impressive palaces in St. Petersburg, located in the north-east of the historic centre, next to the Tavricheskiy Garden (formerly the grounds of the palace). Nowadays, the palace is home to the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States, and is not open for sightseeing. However, since February 2010, halls of Tavricheskiy Palace are being used to host Potemkin Evenings, concerts of 18th century music performed on authentic instruments by some of the best local ensembles.

The Tavricheskiy Palace was built between 1783 and 1789 by Ivan Starov, one of the leading court architects of the period, for Prince Grigory Potemkin, the close confidant and former lover of Catherine the Great . The palace was built and named in honour of his key role in the annexation of the Crimea, for which he was awarded the title "Prince of Tauris" in reference to the Ancient Greek name for the region. Starov designed the palace in strict Palladian style, and its simple facades were in sharp contrast to the richly decorated interiors and the lavish lifestyle led by Potemkin when in St. Petersburg, as he threw a series of increasingly grand and expensive parties in an effort to shore up his waning influence.

The palace was designed to face the Neva River across its extensive parkland, but in 1860 the city's first water-tower was built between the river and the palace, somewhat spoiling its majestic views.

After Potemkin's death in 1791, Tavricheskiy Palace was bought by the crown. Catherine's son, Paul I, loathed the lifestyle of his mother's court so much that he had the palace turned into stables for the horses of the Imperial Guard, and some of the original interiors were lost. The palace remained in the Imperial family until 1906, when it became the seat of the Imperial State Duma, Russia's first parliament. In 1917 it was briefly home to the Provisional Government and the Petersburg Soviet. In the Soviet Union, the palace was used the All-Union Agricultural Communist University and then the Higher Party School, a college of further education for top-level Communist bureaucrats.

The Tauride Venus in the State Hermitage is named after the palace. The first classical sculpture to arrive in Russia, it was ceded by Pope Clement XI to Peter I in 1718, and kept at Tavricheskiy Palace from the time of Catherine the Great until the mid-19th century.

St Petersburg Airport The Northern Russian Capital Gateway

The St Petersburg airport , one of the busiest and most important airports in Russia after Moscow, will be the place where you will touch down when you arrive by plane in Saint Petersburg, the cultural capital of Russia.

Known worldwide as Pulkovo Airport and shortened to LED (airport code), the gateway to northern Russia once consisted of two main terminals located side by side in the south part of St. Petersburg: Pulkovo I and Pulkovo II.

Today , both of the old terminals have been closed and replaced by a new, modern terminal that is able to compete with the leading European airports and offer a warm welcome to new passengers.

With the construction of Pulkovo's new terminal, referred to by the media as New Pulkovo Terminal , the long queues at the entrance or at passport control, as well as the lack of seating and trolleys, are things of the past.

Now the city of St Petersburg has a new fully equipped airport built from scratch that offers a capacity of 17 million passengers per year along with an efficient and modern infrastructure, which every Russian is proud of, including us.

The airport of Saint Petersburg officially known as Pulkovo Airport also won the ' Best Improvement for Europe ' nomination - a prestigious 2014 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards by Airports Council International (ACI). The Awards are granted annually based on the results of a global benchmarking program measuring passengers’ satisfaction while they are at the airport. GETTING FROM THE ST PETERSBURG AIRPORT

Pulkovo Airport is within 23 km of the center of St. Petersburg . From here to town you can take an official taxi upon your arrival at the airport or get a public city bus outside the terminal, or much better, arrange a private transfer before your arrival, and be greeted at the airport.

For your information, going by public transport can be a little challenging for newcomers to Russia and, personally speaking, stressful too, especially if you have a lot of luggage. But it's doable, and of course cheaper than booking a taxi or a private transfer. Sadly, St Petersburg airport is not yet served by metro or shuttle trains.

going by CITY BUSES

If you are on a low budget trip, definitely taking a city bus would be the best option for you. With less than one dollar or one euro, you can get to the city, but not to the city center ( Nevsky Prospekt ), where surely you have booked your Hotel .

All city buses leave from St Petersburg airport (outside the terminal) and stop at Moskovskaya Metro Station on the blue metro line, seven stops south of Nevsky Prospekt in the very center of St. Petersburg. From there you need to change the subway line, so take the red line if your final destination is Nevsky Prospekt. See the city metro map !

What city buses are running into town?

You can take bus number 39, 39A, or the minibus number K39 , also known as Marshrutka . They all run between the nearest Moskovskaya subway station and the airport every 20-30 minutes.

Among all the bus options available, we recommend taking the express city bus number 39A because it is more comfortable than the other two (it has larger seats, better luggage space, and air-conditioning).

Lastly, the service operates daily from 5.30 am to midnight, and tickets can be bought in the arrivals lounges or onboard.

PULKOVO OFFICIAL TAXI

If you are not on a low budget trip , then you can take the official airport taxi upon your arrival. It will cost you less than $31/€28, depending on where you go in the city. You can find them in the arrivals lounge at the terminal before exiting. Just look for the marked Taxi Pulkovo !

The only downside of taking the official Pulkovo taxi is the waiting time for the next driver available. This may take from a few minutes to half an hour, depending on the season you travel. 

As an alternative to the official airport taxi, you could also book a city taxi over the phone when you arrive. This would be the cheapest option, although you will have to wait for the taxi to arrive and/or pay an extra fee if you leave the driver waiting for you. If you are familiar with the App Uber , then Uber can be also another option to use. Whatever service you book keep in mind that the majority of Russian drivers don't speak English.

The average fare for a city taxi to the city center is around $20/€16 or slightly more; the price varies based on the type of car and size.

PRIVATE AIRPORT TRANSFER

The easiest and quickest way to travel in comfort from St Petersburg airport to the city is to order a private airport transfer with a professional driver that will greet you at the airport and wait for you in case of a flight delay, or anything else you have to do, for example, change or withdraw money.

Our prices range from 1200Rubles to 1700Rubles (current exchange rate $18/16€ - $25/22€). You can book online in advance without prepayment, you just pay in cash to the driver at the end of your run. And, when you book a round trip with us you get a 5% discount.

TIPS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

• We strongly recommend that you don't try to negotiate with the drivers touting for fares around the baggage reclaim area, in the airport arrivals hall, and/or on the street. If you choose to go with them you will end up paying something like 3000/4000Rubles (current exchange rate €40/€50-$50/$60), which is way over the average price for this type of service.
• Please keep in mind that these taxi drivers standing at the airport arrivals usually wear a fake official Pulkovo taxi badge around their neck, so at the beginning, they might seem legit or official drivers, but they are not. They are simply  "Scammers". A single time I (Davide) took one of them by mistake, and I was robbed. Overall it was a terrible experience which I don't recommend anyone.
• As Pulkovo Airport is one of the largest in the country, chances are your flight to Saint Petersburg will land here. Located 11.7 miles south of downtown Saint Petersburg, the airport serves not only the city but also Leningrad Oblast, and sees millions of passengers go through its doors every year.
• Gratuities are not a common practice in Russia like it is in the US, but if you would like to tip the driver, then a 5-10% for cab fare is normal.
• Keep in mind that Russian drivers only accept the ruble as the payment option. No credit cards accepted at the moment! So make sure you change money before getting into the taxi.
• Rubles can be obtained either from international exchange offices or from ATM machines both located inside the St Petersburg Airport . However, our best recommendation to you is to go to a local bank. You can find one all over the city. Usually, currency exchange banks are quite competitive with rates fluctuating almost hourly to reflect the Forex market rates, and they are commission-free.
• For those that want to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the airport, Pulkovo Airport provides a number of VIP lounges, some of which have a pay-per-use option. Lounges include amenities such as comfortable seating, complimentary newspapers and magazines, free Wi-Fi, TV, and food and drinks.
• If your layover in Saint Petersburg is a long one, why not head out and explore the area? Pulkovo Airport is ideally located to visit attractions such as the Monument to Heroic Defenders of Leningrad (3.1 miles away), the Civil Aviation Museum (0.7 miles away), Sergiyevskiy Park (0.8 miles away), and the Grand Maket Russia Interactive Museum (6.2 miles away).
