Oasis

Oasis today end years of feverish speculation with the confirmation of a long awaited run of UK and Ireland shows forming the domestic leg of their OASIS LIVE 25 world tour. Oasis will hit Cardiff on the 4th and 5th July 2025.

Oasis today end years of feverish speculation with the confirmation of a long awaited run of UK and Ireland shows forming the domestic leg of their OASIS LIVE 25 world tour. Oasis will hit Cardiff , Manchester , London , Edinburgh and Dublin in the summer of 2025 . Their only shows in Europe next year, this will be one of the biggest live moments and hottest tickets of the decade.

The Oasis live experience is unlike anything else. The roar that greets them as they step on stage. A set full of wall-to-wall classics. The spine-tingling sensation of being in a crowd singing back every word. And especially the charisma, spark and intensity that only comes when Liam and Noel Gallagher are on-stage together.

The brothers have flourished with their own projects since the band split in 2009, with ten UK #1 albums between them as well as countless festival headline sets and stadium and arena shows. But Oasis is something else. There has been no great revelatory moment that has ignited the reunion – just the gradual realisation that the time is right. Yet the timing must be a subconscious influence. This Thursday represents thirty years to the day since their electrifying debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’ was released, while 2025 will see the equally essential second record ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’ reach that same anniversary.

Oasis commented,

“The guns have fallen silent.

The stars have aligned.

The great wait is over.

It will not be televised.”

Oasis’s legend has only been amplified in their absence. The classics that Liam and Noel have played in their solo shows have inspired phenomenal public demand for the band to make a long-awaited return, while the ‘Knebworth 1996’ film provided a taste of their exhilarating live performances to a whole new generation. They remain a huge draw in the streaming era, with 21.5 million monthly listeners at Spotify alone and a total of 12 billion streams to date. This Friday will also see the release of the Deluxe 30th Anniversary Edition of ‘Definitely Maybe’, which is available to pre-order here .

Tickets for the UK dates go on sale from 9am on Saturday, August 31st and will be available from www.ticketmaster.co.uk , www.gigsandtours.com and www.seetickets.com . Dublin tickets will be available from 8am that same day from www.ticketmaster.ie . The shows are:

4th – Cardiff, Principality Stadium

5th – Cardiff, Principality Stadium

A statement from the band said: “The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”

Those Europe shows are the only ones announced so far, but they say that “plans are underway for OASIS LIVE 25 to go to other continents outside of Europe later next year.”

The band also revealed yesterday that  they will not be playing Glastonbury 2025  or any other festival dates, with the stadium tour being “the only way to see the band live”.

Oasis reunion live: Tickets officially sold out - as fans complain about surge in prices

Tickets have now sold out for the Oasis reunion tour that will see Liam and Noel Gallagher reunite fifteen years after their band split. The band will play 17 shows across London, Cardiff, Manchester, Edinburgh and Dublin as part of the Oasis Live 25 world tour.

Saturday 31 August 2024 22:43, UK

Some ticket websites crashed

  • Oasis tickets sold out
  • But Ticketmaster tells people to check back later
  • Ticketmaster under fire for dynamic pricing which saw tickets go up from £150 to £350 for some who had queued for hours
  • Fans share anguish over wait for tickets - as sites crash
  • Oasis warns fans against buying resale tickets at inflated prices

We're bringing our coverage to a close.

Scroll back to see our updates throughout the day as tickets for the Oasis 2025 reunion tour went on sale, and sold out hours later.

If you wanted an indicator of just how much ticket prices have increased since Oasis last toured the UK, then look no further.

Tickets from three Oasis gigs - one just months before Noel quit the band - show how ticket prices have skyrocketed, with a floor standing ticket at Wembley in July 2009 priced at £38.10.

The same ticket for the 2025 reunion tour started at £151.25.

If that's not painful enough, a ticket for the second of two nights that Oasis performed at Knebworth Park in August 1996 - gigs which attracted 125,000 people each night - cost £22.50.

While a concert in April 1996 at Manchester City football club was even cheaper at £17.50.

The Ticketmaster website currently says there are no Oasis tickets available, but encourages fans to "check back later as more may be released".

It is unknown if the cryptic message refers to tickets becoming available through resale, or if another batch of tickets is yet to go on sale.

Meanwhile, the websites for Gigs and Tours and See Tickets are still displaying a holding page warning that the website is "very busy" and visitors will be redirected automatically when a space becomes available.

Following on from our last post, Oasis fans have begun reacting to the fact tickets can only be resold at face value.

Taking aim at Ticketmaster's 'dynamic pricing' - which can increase the price of tickets based on demand - one fan questioned whether the value for a floor standing ticket was £150 or £350.

Another fan wrote: "Face value unless it's on Ticketmaster? Time to look back in anger."

While a third added: "Face value is whatever the ticket was bought for. If the ticket was bought for £150, it's £150. If it was bought for £350, it's £350."

Fans have complained about the hike in ticket price throughout the afternoon, after some ticket prices more than doubled - pushed up by huge demand.

The demand-based system was implemented by Ticketmaster in 2022 which it said was intended to stop touts and give more money to the artists themselves.

The company said earlier today that it does not set prices, and shared a link to its website where it says costs can be "fixed or market-based".

Tickets for the Oasis Live '25 Tour are officially sold out, according to the band.

A post on the Oasis X account issued a third warning about counterfeit and void tickets appearing on unapproved resale websites.

It said tickets can only be resold on Ticketmaster and resale website Twickets and for face value.

It's difficult to portray how big Oasis were if you didn't live through it, with no British guitar band matching their status since.

Here are five reasons that show their appeal then and now...

According to the NME, Oasis have sold more than 75 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling bands of all time. They had eight UK number-one singles and eight UK number-one albums. Their biggest album - (What's The Story) Morning Glory? - sold 22 million copies and is the fifth-biggest-selling album in British chart history, behind greatest hit compliations from Queen and Abba, plus Adele's 21 and The Beatles' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Newsworthiness

The brothers' fractious relationship made them big news in the mid-90s. They were arguably second only to Princess Diana for the frequency with which they appeared on the front of the tabloids. Their rivalry with Blur, which peaked when the bands released singles Country House and Roll With It on the same day, making television news bulletins on the BBC and here at Sky News.

It is said that 4% of the UK population applied for tickets to the band's two shows at Knebworth in 1996. The lucky 250,000 saw concerts that are still talked about today - but Oasis could have sold out another 18 times.

Downing Street

A sign of the Gallaghers' influence came with an invitation to Downing Street in 1997 by  then new prime minister Tony Blair, who was riding on a wave of so-called Cool Britannia.

Wonderwall was the first 90s song to reach one billion streams on Spotify, while Radio 2 last year had Morning Glory and Definitely Maybe as the top two most-streamed albums from the 1990s. The popularity of hits such as Don't Look Back In Anger has endured for several generations, becoming an anthem in the wake of the Manchester Arena bombing in 2017.

"I think it’s a calmer Liam Gallagher now," Dominic Mohan, former editor of The Sun, has told Sky News while discussing how he thinks the upcoming gigs will go.

He said the band appeared to have matured and said Liam "describes himself as Zen-like," adding: "I think he's very professional and they'll make it work."

Reminiscing about how the band used to act in their heyday, he said: "If you think back to the 90s, you never really knew which Liam you were going to get.

"I remember going to Tokyo to see the band and bumping into Liam in a hotel bar, and he talked to me for two hours about the birth of his child, and it was a very poignant interview, but at the end of it, he threw a pint of Guinness at me.

"So it's that sort of dichotomy really, of him back then."

He added: "He was only in his early 20s when Oasis exploded. So for the last 30 years, he hasn't really had to grow up.

"But I think over the past few years he's had a little reflecting and this is the moment he has craved, getting back on stage with Oasis."

Mr Mohan said he was still in the queue for tickets, adding: "I would hope to be there whether or not it can live up to the glory days of Knebworth… but it’ll be a great night out."

While Oasis fans are seeing prices above £350 for tickets, it's far from the first time fans have felt the pinch when trying to see their favourite artists.

Last year, Bruce Springsteen fans paid upwards of £120 for "rear pitch" standing tickets for his tour, while some expressed disappointment recently over the £145 price tag of standing tickets for Billie Eilish's 2025 UK leg.

And while you could have nabbed Beyonce or Taylor Swift tickets in the UK for £50 (before fees) if you took a "nosebleed" seat, these had limited availability and quickly sold out.

General admission standing tickets for Swift's Eras tour started at £110.40 and those at the front had to shell out £172.25. It didn't stop there - by the time many fans got to the front of the online ticket queue, the only tickets left cost upwards of £300.

So what's behind rising ticket costs? The  Money blog   investigates some of the reasons...

By Jimmy Rice, lives news editor

Oasis reuniting is all very well - but which Oasis might we see on stage?

The band went through numerous incarnations after forming in 1991 with Liam, rhythm guitarist Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs, bassist Paul McGuigan and drummer Tony McCarroll - later being joined by Noel.

So who are the definites and the maybes - and who won't be seeing - in a reformed Oasis?

The only remaining founding member, Liam's snarling vocals brought his brother's songs viscerally to life - and his swagger and unpredictability (quitting a US tour hours before the plane was due to take off, deciding he didn't fancy taking part in a coveted MTV Unplugged session, and getting arrested along with the rhythm section on a ferry to Amsterdam - where the band in their early years had been due to perform a crucial gig to industry bosses) made the band so compelling before it all got a bit tired as the 1990s wore on.

Songwriter Noel is the only other ever-present, if you discount walking out of a few tours here and there, including for three months in 2000 when he was replaced by Mother Earth's Matt Deighton.

Taking over rhythm guitar duties following the departure of Bonehead in 1999, the musician has managed to remain close to both Gallaghers, performing in Liam's Beady Eye post-Oasis and currently a part of Noel's High Flying Birds.

The story goes that original member Bonehead was struggling to abide by Noel's no-alcohol rule as the band tried to recover from the critical mess that was 1997's Be Here Now. When Noel suggested he could be fired, Bonehead was said to have quit. In recent years he has performed with Liam, with the presumption being that he and Noel were not talking  - but, replying to a fan on Twitter last year, the 59-year-old revealed the pair had recently spoken and were on good terms.

Now, the original Oasis bandmember is set to rejoin Noel and Liam Gallagher for their reunion tour - that's according to The Sun.

Maybe

Chris Sharrock

The only other Oasis member to join the brothers in their respective solo projects is Chris Sharrock, who was in Oasis from 2008-09. He seems the most likely presence on drums.

This one seems unlikely - but not impossible. Bassist Bell performed with Liam's Beady Eye but was said to have a frosty relationship with Noel. However, in 2023 Bell's band Ride supported High Flying Birds.

Paul 'Guigsy' McGuigan

The founding bassist has rarely been seen in public since he quit the band weeks after Bonehead. According to Noel, Guigsy announced his departure by sending the band a fax. He declined to take part in the Supersonic film in 2016 and in 2019 Liam said: "Not seen him since he left the band and he only lives up the road."

Tony McCarroll

The original drummer was fired in 1995, before the band went from being the next big thing to the biggest band on the planet. There were accusations of bullying but the upgrade in drumming from debut album Definitely Maybe to (What's The Story) Morning Glory? is unquestionable. McCarroll tried to sue Oasis for £18m but settled for £550,000 out of court in March 1999, giving up future royalties.

Oasis's longest-serving drummer, having been recommended to the band by Paul Weller upon McCarroll's sacking in 1995. White was thrown in at the deep end, his debut performance coming on the BBC's iconic Top Of The Pops for the band's first number one, Some Might Say. He was fired in 2004, with the reasons remaining unclear. White has stayed out of the public eye ever since.

Zak Starkey

White's replacement, son of Beatles drummer Ringo, performed with the band from 2004 until 2008. It was reported he fell out with Noel, with his ongoing commitments with The Who a suggested point of tension.

Oasis Adds Extra Shows to 2025 Tour Amid High Demand For Gallagher Brothers’ Reunion

LONDON — Oasis has added three more dates to its reunion tour of Britain and Ireland, citing “unprecedented demand” for tickets.

The new shows announced Thursday are at Heaton Park in the band’s home city of Manchester, England on July 16, 2025, at London’s Wembley Stadium on July 30 and at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium on Aug. 12.

The Britpop-era rock band is now scheduled to play 17 gigs in Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Dublin starting at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on July 4.

Oasis was one of the dominant acts of the 1990s Britpop era, producing hits including “Wonderwall” and “Don’t Look Back in Anger.” Its sound was fueled by singalong rock choruses and the combustible chemistry between guitarist-songwriter Noel Gallagher and his brother Liam, the band’s singer.

Oasis split in 2009, with Noel Gallagher officially leaving the band after a backstage dustup with his brother at a festival near Paris.

While the Gallagher brothers haven’t performed together since, both regularly perform Oasis songs at their solo gigs. They’ve also each fired off criticisms of the other in the press.

Announcing the reunion on Tuesday, the band said fans would experience “the spark and intensity” that occurs only when they appear on stage together.

The tour will begin July 4 and 5 at the Principality Stadium. Oasis will also perform in Manchester, on July 11, 12, 16, 19 and 20; in London on July 25, 26 and 30 and Aug. 2 and 3; in Edinburgh on Aug. 8, 9 and 12; and Croke Park in Dublin on Aug. 16 and 17.

Tickets go on sale Saturday at 8 a.m. (0700GMT, 3 a.m. EDT) in Ireland and an hour later in the U.K. Fans were also able to apply for a presale ballot to be held on Friday. It’s unclear how many tickets will be issued through the ballot.

Irish promoter MCD says tickets for the Dublin shows will start at 86.50 euros ($96) plus booking fee. Prices for the U.K. gigs have not been announced.

Oasis: Liam Gallagher announces 30th anniversary Definitely Maybe tour

Live performances of eight-times platinum Britpop album will be accompanied by other songs from the same era by the band

Liam Gallagher has announced that he will tour Oasis’s 1994 debut album, Definitely Maybe, in full for its 30th anniversary.

“I’m bouncing around the house to announce the Definitely Maybe tour,” Gallagher said. “The most important album of the 90s bar none. I wouldn’t be anywhere without it and neither would you, so let’s celebrate together.”

The tour will include fan favourites released while Oasis were touring Definitely Maybe, such as Whatever, Fade Away, Listen Up and Sad Song.

The tour begins in Sheffield on 2 June 2024 and concludes on 27 June – the day before Glastonbury kicks off.

Gallagher is likely to be joined by co-founding Oasis member Paul Arthurs (AKA Bonehead), who resumed touring with him earlier this year after a bout with tonsil cancer. In September 2022, he said that he had received the all-clear from doctors and was in recovery.

It is not quite the Oasis reunion that fans have been waiting 14 years for, since brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher split the band and became estranged in 2009.

The pair once vehemently denied rumours that they would reunite – not to mention declining lucrative offers to tour – but in recent years have humoured fans with the idea.

In August, Noel was asked at a live Q&A who would be in the Oasis lineup were they to reunite.

“So me, Liam. Well, it’s a funny thing because we’re all at a certain age now. Hair was a thing in Oasis, so we’ll have to see what everybody’s hair is looking like. I’m in no matter what. This is not fucking going anywhere. I don’t know. Look. Me, Liam and a load of fucking fit birds.”

Definitely Maybe , released on Creation Records in August 1994, is a landmark record in British music and helped define the Britpop era. It reached No 1 on release, becoming what was then the fastest-selling debut album in British music history, and was later certified eight times platinum.

It was a surprise success in some ways after a highly fraught creation, with difficult sessions at various recording studios.

In a review of the 2014 reissue of the album, Rolling Stone critic Rob Sheffield wrote: “Twenty years on, Oasis’ debut album remains one of the most gloriously loutish odes to cigarettes, alcohol, and dumb guitar solos that the British Isles have ever coughed up.”

Liam frequently performs songs from the album – and from Oasis’s catalogue – at his solo shows. His last solo album was 2022’s C’mon You Know . This year, Noel released Council Skies with his High Flying Birds band.

Tickets for the Definitely Maybe anniversary tour go on sale at 9am BST on 20 October.

Liam Gallagher Confirms New Oasis LP and US Tour Dates on Twitter/X

Liam Gallagher Confirms New Oasis LP and US Tour Dates on Twitter/X

Oasis has endured a busy period of late after coming off an extended hiatus that left many fans uncertain about the band’s future status. Unbeknownst to the masses, in late August, the Manchester-formed group, known for cult classics like “Wonderwall” and “Champagne Supernova,” dropped its first tour dates since 2009. In the days that followed the initial announcement, more dates were added in their native UK due to the popularity of their return. Now, Liam Gallagher has shared some insight on their return and future touring plans outside of Europe.

As first reported by Stereogum , the younger Gallagher brother took part in a virtual conversation with fans via Twitter/X, addressing questions about new music, future concerts, and more, which assists in painting a picture of what Oasis’ future might entail. Via the fan-sparked chain that rejected a gossip blog’s claim: “Liam Gallagher has lashed out at Oasis fans, telling them to ‘shut up’ over ticket fiasco.” With a touch of humor, the musician responded to the thread: “I’m not scared of the SQUARES.”

The aforementioned response was the first of many that touched on the band’s current trajectory. Back and forth continued, with another fan asking, “Mate it might be jumping the gun abit but A feel an albums in the air? Imagine.” Confirming speculation, Gallagher replied, “It’s in the bag mate fuck the air.” For US fans, one individual questioned the possibility of North American dates. He confirmed, “We are im there now I love it.”

Oasis have announced a 17-date UK and Ireland tour for 2023, but some fans have been left wondering whether the gigs will actually take place

The long wait is nearly over for fans eager to secure tickets for the first Oasis tour in 16 years. After a hiatus of 15 years, the lads from Burnage have made peace and announced a series of 17 shows across the UK and Ireland next year. Tickets for the much-anticipated tour - which includes five nights at Heaton Park - will be available from 9am on Saturday (August 31).

Speculation about the reunion was confirmed on Tuesday morning (August 27) following hints dropped at Blossoms' Wythenshawe Park gig in Manchester over the weekend. The news that the iconic Britpop band are reuniting has been met with both joy and disbelief.

The Manchester-based band split in 2009 after a dispute between Liam and Noel Gallagher. The brothers, who are due to reunite 16 years later, parted ways just hours before they were scheduled to perform at the Rock en Seine festival near Paris following a backstage brawl.

The tumultuous relationship between the Gallaghers has led some fans to question whether the band will complete all 17 dates of the tour. With their first comeback gig not slated until next July, some are even questioning whether the tour will happen at all, reports the Manchester Evening News .

Tickets will go on general sale on Saturday (August 31) at 9am, with a pre-sale happening for those selected in a ballot on Friday. Fans can purchase tickets from Ticketmaster , Live Nation or See Tickets , with Twickets chosen as the official ticket resale platform.

Fortunately, all these ticket providers offer refunds for cancelled events. However, additional ticket fees are typically non-refundable.

According to the Ticketmaster website, their Fan Guarantee policy provides a 24-hour 'cooling off period' when events are cancelled or rescheduled. This allows those who have purchased a ticket to request a refund or exchange within that timeframe.

Live Nation 's terms and conditions state that customers will be entitled to a refund if an event is cancelled or rescheduled. See Tickets also confirms that if an event has been cancelled, refunds will be automatically credited back to the original source of payment.

Gigs and Tours, which is also selling tickets for all UK shows, states that the promoter is responsible for refunds if the event is cancelled. According to the company's website, if an event is cancelled by the promoter, you will usually be offered a refund.

However, the ticket provider clarifies that the booking fee, any transaction fees and the optional Ticket Refund Protection are not refundable. Twickets, the official ticket resale partner, has confirmed it will provide a full refund, including fees, if the event is cancelled.

Unlike other resale sites, Twickets does not charge additional fees such as service fee, facility fee, processing fee or delivery fee. However, the company does normally charge a delivery fee for other events when the customer has to post their physical ticket.

Oasis respond to claims of Knebworth return and more UK dates

Oasis has ruled out more dates in the UK as part of their reunion tour, including a return to iconic Knebworth Park.

The band announced last month they would be reuniting for a series of dates later this year, beginning in Cardiff .

Brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher performed two concerts at Knebworth Park, the stately home in Herefordshire , in 1996.

They later released a live album from the shows and the 2021 documentary Oasis Knebworth 1996.

The Sun newspaper had reported the brothers were open to the idea of adding to the 19-date run at the venue.

In a statement on social media, the band said "Oasis will not be playing Knebworth Park in the future".

"There are no plans for any further UK dates beyond the currently announced UK stadium tour," the statement added.

After some fans were unable to get tickets due to technical issues, two more dates were added at London 's Wembley Stadium on 27 and 28 September.

They follow two dates in the Welsh capital, five in Manchester , five in Wembley and three in Edinburgh .

Those successful in the invite-only ballot to buy tickets for the remaining concerts are set to be informed by 9pm on Friday.

The UK's competition watchdog, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), is investigating whether the sale of Oasis tickets by Ticketmaster may have breached consumer protection law .

Oasis and Ticketmaster should refund fans, consumer group says

'Grumpy' Noel Gallagher to feature in portrait gallery

The probe will look at whether "dynamic pricing" may have been used after the price of standard tickets for the tour more than doubled from £148 to £355 on the ticket selling website.

Ticketmaster has said it does not set concert prices and Oasis has said the band was not involved in the decision either.

Oasis has yet to release tickets or announce dates for their tour outside of Europe.

“The great wait is over” – Oasis announce 2025 UK and Ireland reunion tour

After all the rumours, "the guns have fallen silent" as the Gallagher brothers return as Oasis for a huge run of stadium shows. See all the details here

After years of rumour and speculation, Oasis have now finally reunited to announce a UK and Ireland stadium tour for 2025. Check out dates and ticket details below.

After recent weeks of reports that the Britpop giants would be returning , anticipation reached fever pitch this weekend with Liam Gallagher used his Reading Festival 2024 headline set on Sunday (August 25) to tease an announcement. The social media accounts of Oasis and brother Noel soon shared the same teaser , telling fans that news would be coming at 8am today (Tuesday August 27).

Now, they’ve launched the OASIS LIVE 25 world tour with 14 stadium dates set to take place between Cardiff, Manchester, London, Edinburgh and Dublin next summer. These will be the band’s only shows in Europe in 2025, but a press release states that “plans are underway for OASIS LIVE 25 to go to other continents outside of Europe later next year”

Along with a new photo of the Gallagher brothers side-by-side taken by Simon Emmett, the band have also shared a short statement about burying the hatchet following the very public feud that arose from the band’s split in 2009:

“The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned.  The great wait is over.  Come see. It will not be televised.”

The band have not yet revealed who’ll be in the rest of the line-up beyond Liam and Noel, but this week also saw newspaper reports c laim that “no other original Oasis member is expected to join the reunion”  and that “the members of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will step in for the concerts”.

News of the tour – reportedly set to make a colossal £400million – comes as the band release the expanded reissue of their seminal 1994 debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’ on Friday (August 30), after it celebrates in 30th anniversary the day before. The re-release comes with previously unheard and abandoned versions from the Monnow Valley session for the album, as well as outtakes from the Sawmills sessions – both mixed by Noel for the first time.

Liam has recently been playing the album in full on a solo tour throughout summer 2024, including headline sets at Reading & Leeds this weekend. His Reading performance saw him dedicate ‘Half The World Away’ (a classic song sung by his brother) to “Noel fucking Gallagher” , further stoking rumours of a reunion when the same song during his Leeds set  saw him tell the audience: “It is very interesting init? It is a very interesting situation we’ve found ourselves in.”

Liam and Noel Gallagher of Oasis

This was only fuelled by Noel sharing some rare complimentary words for his brother , praising Liam’s vocal ability over his own in a new interview.

Talk then gathered momentum when Liam responded to online fan discussion about a report by The Times over the weekend, in which the publication claimed Oasis would be playing a string of shows in London and Manchester in 2025 – including gigs at Heaton Park, 10 at Wembley Stadium and a rumoured Glastonbury headline appearance.

One user wrote: “Heaton Park terrible venue for concerts,” to which the frontman responded: “See you down the front you big fanny.”

Another fan commented: “this will last about five seconds,” with Liam adding: “You got a crystal ball cunty bollocks.”

As it stands, the tour date schedule still leaves the band open to headline Glasto 2025 – which takes place the week before from Wednesday June 25 to Sunday June 29. Other acts rumoured to top the bill include Eminem , Rihanna , Sam Fender , Taylor Swift , and Ed Sheeran .

Before the ‘Definitely Maybe’ 30th anniversary tour kicked off, Liam shared that Noel is said to have turned down an opportunity to reunite for the shows, and even  suggested that he would “send him a box of chocolates” as an apology for being “really mean” to him  around the time of Oasis’ break-up in 2009.

More recently, Liam told his audience that  Noel was “still playing hard to get” regarding a comeback for the band .

Speaking to NME  in 2020 , Liam said an Oasis reunion was “gonna happen very fucking soon”, before Noel revealed in early 2023 that he would “never say never” to the idea .

  • READ MORE: The Masterlist – every song Oasis ever recorded ranked in order of greatness

A dampener was soon put on any hopes though, as LG subsequently argued that  his older brother had “done a lot of damage to Oasis as a brand” , and Noel  claimed that his brother was too much of a “coward” to follow through  with the idea, later  accusing Liam of trying to “rewrite history” regarding Oasis’ “dreadful” final year together .

Since then,  Noel also discussed the possibility of an Oasis comeback during an interview with NME , adding that the reason why it hasn’t happened yet was because there had “never really been a serious offer about ‘The Big O’ getting back together”.

Noel Gallagher

Liam and Noel have not performed together since Oasis’ acrimonious split in 2009 , following an “altercation” between the pair at Paris’ Rock en Seine festival, just hours before their headline appearance. “It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight,” Noel wrote at the time. “People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with [singer, his brother] Liam a day longer.”

Looking back on the event that led to his departure in 2021 , Noel described them as a “shitstorm”. “Oasis tours were always about the struggle, anyway,” he said. “The incident in Paris, that was just the straw that broke the camel’s back, really.”

Noel recalled how he sat in the back of a car at the music festival after deciding it was time to quit the band.

“And the driver pulled off and that was it. I didn’t feel a sense of relief because I knew there was a shitstorm coming. And there was going to be a lot of nonsense talked about it,” he said. “One of the biggest bands ever imploded, finally. And I couldn’t go back to England because the press had descended on my house and my missus was there with my kids.”

He added: “So we had to kind of spirit her out in the middle of the night and they came to join me in France somewhere. And then when we eventually got back to England, of course all fucking hell broke loose.”

Since Oasis split, both Gallagher brothers have enjoyed successful solo careers and been crowned Godlike Genius at the NME Awards. Noel has released four albums with The High Flying Birds – the last being 2023’s acclaimed ‘Council Skies ‘ – while Liam released two albums with Beady Eye between 2009-2014 before finding much more momentum as a solo artist in 2017. As well as echoing Oasis’ success in selling out a huge show at Knebworth under his own name, he has released three chart-topping solo albums, as well as this year’s long-awaited collaborative record with The Stone Roses’ John Squire .

The last decade has also seen Oasis fans kept happy with the release of the now-classic documentary Supersonic in 2016 , and Oasis Knebworth 1996 – a live album and film which chronicled the band’s zenith of when they played to 250,000 fans across two nights in the ’90s, at shows that saw 2.7 per cent of the UK population applying for tickets.

Oasis tickets: What other indie bands could go on tour in Britpop renaissance?

The music industry has been rocked by the news of the Oasis reunion, especially with Noel Gallagher saying for the previous 15 years that it will never happen.

The reunion has resurrected interest in 1990s Britpop culture with the band’s first album, Definitely Maybe, reaching the UK number one spot this week.

The sounds of the generation of musicians who were well-known at that time have permeated TikTok videos, as has the decade's fashion, which included long hair, loose clothes, and middle partings.

Meanwhile, in March, ‘90s bands the Happy Mondays, Inspiral Carpets and Stereo MC’s got together on stage for the Been There Done That Tour.

Could the current popularity of the decade and Oasis’s reunion cause a ripple effect among other Britpop bands to reunite or tour once more?

Here’s a look at some of them and our probability of them performing in the near future.

Blur – Probability of a reunion: 9/10

oasis tour 2023 uk

Technically, they did reunite for Wembley Stadium shows in 2023. But we think Blur have a strong chance of reuniting for another album.

The band released The Ballad of Darren in 2023 and lead singer Damon Albarn  will no doubt be spurred on by Oasis’s success and his reignited friendship with Liam .

In an interview with the Sun in 1918, talking about a reunion, Albarn even said, “Some days, I really fancy doing a Blur song in the middle of a Gorillaz set.” The band speak very positively about their musical years, with bassist Alex James even releasing a book chronicling Blur’s return to the spotlight.

The Verve – 5/10

oasis tour 2023 uk

The Verve have a track record of getting back together – the group has reunited twice, once in 1996 and a second time in 2007.

Richard Ashcroft 's band last played together in 2009. Since then, the frontman has been touring as a solo artist.

But to see him and guitarist Nick McCabe together onstage again in 2025, running through indie-psych classics from Urban Hymns and A Northern Soul, would be huge.

Elastica – 5/10

Elastica 1999

Elastica, well-known in the mid-1990s thanks to their unique blend of post-punk and new wave, broke up in 2001 and haven't reunited since. But there is one thing that has given us hope and that is when band members Donna Matthews, Justin Welch, and Annie Holland got together in 2017 in order to remaster their debut album. Their iconic self-titled debut album turns 30 next year so, we never know, we might get to see the band reunite for the special occasion.

Supergrass – 6/10

Supergrass

This may come too soon considering that Oxford 's fiery Britpop band only broke up in 2022 and that Gaz Coombes seemed content with his solo endeavours. However, given that the Covid-19 pandemic severely disrupted their 2019 reformation and that 2025 will commemorate the 30th anniversary of their excellent debut album I Should Coco, it would make sense for Supergrass to join the ’90s indie revival.

Gene – 4/10

Established in 1993, Gene enjoyed great success in the 1990s, as evidenced by their first two albums entering the top 10 UK album charts. When the Britpop craze finally wore off, the Londoners called it quits amicably, holding their last performance at the now-closed London Astoria on December 16, 2004. They only got back together for one performance, which was in 2008 at London's 100 Club, with just five songs. They also have a 30th anniversary coming up of their debut album, Olympian.

Oasis are still to work out which acts will support them on their huge 2025 reunion tour, but frontman Liam Gallagher is apparently keen to give fans the best show possible.

While several reports have claimed various bands are already lined up to open for the British rock band at their shows in London, Cardiff, Dublin, Edinburgh and Manchester, The Independent understands that brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher have yet to sit down and discuss which artists they want.

However, Liam is said to be eager to bring a few big rock acts on board.

“Liam is keen for established acts so it will probably take a bit of back and forth before anything’s confirmed,” a source close to the band told The Independent.

The source also dismissed reports that Villanelle, the emerging rock band fronted by Liam’s son Gene, have already been booked to support Oasis next year.

“They haven’t even discussed it,” they said, pointing out that Villanelle previously toured with Liam during his 2024 Definitely Maybe anniversary tour .

The Independent understands that Gene wants his band to find success on their own merit.

Oasis will perform at stadiums around the UK and Ireland in 2025

Other acts rumoured to be in the running are Kasabian , fronted by Liam’s close friend Serge Pizzorno, and Brit Award-nominated, Stockport-formed group Blossoms.

Responding to a fan question about potential support acts this week, Liam appeared to suggest he wasn’t blown away by what was on offer: “Most of them are proper zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz,” he wrote.

Oasis announced their long awaited reunion last month, unveiling plans for a major tour that will include multiple dates at London’s Wembley Stadium and Heaton Park in Manchester.

They later said that a further two dates at Wembley had been added for September, after thousands of fans struggled to buy tickets when they first went on sale on 31 August.

In a press release, it was announced on Wednesday (September 4) that a new “invitation-only ballot ticket sale strategy” has been devised for the two new Wembley shows “as a small step towards making amends for the situation”.

“Applications to join the ballot will be opened first to the many fans who were unsuccessful in the initial on sale with Ticketmaster,” the statement adds.

It also promises to be “far smoother for fans by reducing the stress and time it takes to obtain” tickets.

Oasis said they wanted to take ‘a small step towards making amends’ for the Ticketmaster debacle

Those who missed out on the tickets last weekend should have now received an email asking them to enter the ballot as well as a new quiz question.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Oasis have topped the charts for the first time in 14 years , as their debut Definitely Maybe makes its return following the reunion announcement.

Released 30 years ago , the record is back at No 1 thanks to the release of its anniversary deluxe edition, which features previously unreleased material including the Monnow Valley sessions, outtakes from the band’s recordings at Sawmills studio in Cornwall, and an alternative demo of “Sad Song”.

According to the Official Albums Chart, Definitely Maybe enjoyed a 408 per cent week-on-week uplift in sales, with more than 50 per cent coming from vinyl sales.

Two other Oasis albums have also entered the Top Five: their 2009 greatest hits compilation Time Flies... 1994-2009, at No 3, and their record-breaking second album, (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? at No 4.

Meanwhile, three of the guitars played by Noel Gallagher during the recording of Definitely Maybe are up for auction at Sotheby’s this week, as part of its inaugural pop culture event.

“When Oasis recorded Supersonic, all he had was an Epiphone Les Paul Standard”: Oasis reunion hype reaches fever pitch as Noel Gallagher’s Definitely Maybe LP smashes its auction estimate

The Les Paul – which can be seen in the Supersonic music video – was sold alongside two other Oasis instruments, which also broke their estimated selling prices

A selection of guitars owned and used by Noel Gallagher, including (l-r) an Epiphone EA-250, a Gibson Flying V and an Epiphone Les Paul Standard electric guitar, go on view at Sotheby's on September 09, 2024 in London, England

A handful of Oasis electric guitars have smashed their upper estimates after going up for auction mere weeks after the influential Brit rock band announced their long-awaited return.

Following some brief but intense speculation, the Gallagher brothers officially confirmed that they’d be reuniting for a comeback tour later this year , with dates currently penciled in at London, Cardiff, Manchester, Edinburgh and Dublin.

The shows will mark the first time the brothers have played together ever since their infamous bust-up behind the scenes at the 2009 Rock en Seine festival in Paris, which involved the destruction of an ES-355 – which sold at auction .

But bubbling underneath the buzz surrounding Oasis’ long-awaited return was a Sotheby’s auction , which has seen the sale of some notable Oasis electrics – including Noel’s Definitely Maybe Epiphone Les Paul .

And, despite having an upper estimate of just over $100,000, the Epi LP ended up selling for closer to $200k – approximately $173,500, to be precise.

While it’s not quite enough to make it on to the list of the most expensive guitars ever sold at auction , it does weigh in as quite possibly the priciest Epiphone to be sold under the hammer.

To put it into perspective, it’s likely that Gallagher didn’t pay more than a few hundred pounds for the beginner electric guitar when he first acquired it. As such, to see its value rise to almost $200,000 is rather surreal.

But as mentioned, the guitar’s newest custodian – who may or may not have been swept up by Oasis fever at the time of the auction – will no doubt justify the hefty price tag by pointing to its cultural significance.

This is, after all, the guitar that paved the way for Oasis, and that helped them navigate their earliest sessions as they began their journey towards Brit rock domination.

“In December 1993 when Oasis recorded their first single, Supersonic , at the Pink Museum recording studio in Liverpool, all he had was an Epiphone Les Paul Standard, a used WEM/Watkins Dominator MKIII combo and a Roland RE-201 Space Echo,” Guitar World ’s Chris Gill wrote of the Epi’s significance .

That Epi Les Paul wasn’t the only Oasis guitar to fetch a handsome fee at auction. Noel’s Epiphone EA-250, which also featured on the cover of Supersonic , went for approximately $63,077, while a Flying V – which was also once owned by Johnny Marr – sold for around $47,291.
