While the Hoosier state capital is perhaps best known as the home of the Indy 500, Indianapolis is more than just a city for racing enthusiasts. It's a place where public art, professional sports, bikeways, universities, museums and parks meld together in one dynamic city.

Plan to explore Indianapolis on wheels – biking or scootering are two popular modes of transport – or by kayak via its central canal. You can even hop into a racecar and take a 180mph spin around the oval-shaped Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the thrill of a lifetime.

Here are our picks for the best things to see and do in Indianapolis.

Bike the Indianapolis Cultural Trail

The best way to explore the backdrop of the 1979 hit movie Breaking Away (about a working-class teen obsessed with the Italian cycling team) is by bike. The Indianapolis Cultural Trail , an 8.1-mile-long bikeway, loops through downtown Indianapolis and features spurs that take riders through three city neighborhoods.

The northeastern spur runs along Massachusetts Ave before connecting to another popular trail, the Monon Trail . The southeastern spur follows Virginia Ave into the Fountain Square neighborhood, a commercial historic district. The trail's southern spur connects the Indiana Convention Center and Lucas Oil Stadium .

The pleasant bikeway is dotted with more than 61 pieces of public art. Download the free trail map and rent a bike at one of the Indiana Pacers Bikeshare stations along the trail.

Explore the natural and cultural wonders of White River State Park

The 267-acre White River State Park is Indianapolis' prized urban green space. Situated along its namesake White River, the park has trails, trees and cultural gems. Catch a flick on Indiana's largest movie screen (it's more than six stories tall) at the IMAX Theater or watch a baseball game at Victory Field . Meet the mastodons of prehistoric Indiana, see the best-documented Amish quilt collection in the world and learn more about the Hoosiers who made their mark on the world at the Indiana State Museum . The park's Eiteljorg Museum shines a spotlight on the indigenous people of Indiana through its extensive collection of works of art by historic and contemporary Native artists.

Paddle or walk the Indiana Central Canal

Dug out in the early 1800s to serve as a commercial shipping waterway, the Indiana Central Canal offers a 3-mile waterside promenade for bikers, walkers and runners. The public art-lined canal walk begins at 10th St and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St and travels south past several landmarks, including the USS Indianapolis Memorial , the Watanabe Garden and the Indiana State Museum, before arriving at White River State Park. Rent a swan pedal boat or a kayak at Wheel Fun Rentals at Canal Walk  to get out on the water and soak in the scenery.

Kiss the bricks at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum

The Indy 500 is perhaps the greatest spectacle in automobile racing. Considered part of the Triple Crown of Motorsports (along with the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Monaco Grand Prix), the race is hosted on the 2.5-mile-long, oval-shaped track of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, built in 1909. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum is home to one of the world's largest collections of vintage racecars, including more than 30 Indy 500 winners. Photographs and other vintage memorabilia showcase the Speedway's 100-plus-year history.

Take a behind-the-scenes tour and experience the Speedway's rich history. Visitors can also stand for a photo op at the same podium as the race's celebrated winners and “kiss the bricks” at the start/finish line. NASCAR champion Dale Jarrett started this tradition: kneeling and kissing the pavement as a tribute to the winning drivers.

Cars race around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Hop in a real Indy racecar or make slower loops on an indoor karting track

If you want to experience the thrill of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, hop into a real Indy race car and take a spin around the iconic oval with the Indy Racing Experience . You'll feel the g-force as you sit in the passenger seat beside a professional Indycar driver who will whip you around the track at 180mph.

To feel the exhilaration of car racing minus the bone-tingling, Speedway Indoor Karting offers go-karting on its mini superspeedway, an oval-shaped slick track that promises an adrenaline rush at a speed of up to 40mph.

Stroll by the galleries, theaters, restaurants and boutiques on Mass Ave

Massachusetts Avenue, known as " Mass Ave " by locals, is a five-block, historic district, where the arts mingle with commerce. Pick a pair of kicks from Stout's Footwear (the oldest shoe store in the country), treat yourself to a Flying Cupcake , sip a stein of German lager in the historic Rathskeller Biergarten or see a classic play at The District Theater .

Paint with an elephant, touch the skin of a rhino or feed a sloth at the Indianapolis Zoo

The Indianapolis Zoo is home to more than 3800 animals, including red pandas, Brazilian rainbow boas and warthogs. The zoo's Simon Skjodt International Orangutan Center, a research hub dedicated to orangutan conservation, houses 10 of the apes. Innovative cable highways allow the orangutans to travel throughout the zoo.

If you've ever dreamed of painting with an elephant, touching the rough skin of a rhino or feeding a sloth, check out the zoo's menu of unique animal adventures .

Soak in art immersed in nature at Newfields

Surrounded by 34 acres of grounds, the historic Oldfields-Lilly House and Gardens is the former estate of pharmaceutical millionaire Eli Lilly. Tour the home and grounds designed by the renowned landscape architecture firm Olmsted Brothers and then browse the 54,000-work collection of the onsite Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA). The eighth-largest encyclopedic art museum in the United States, the IMA features rotating exhibits and a permanent collection that includes an extensive collection of Neo-Impressionist and Japanese paintings of the Edo period. Cap off your visit with a glass of sparkling wine on the garden terrace of the onsite beer garden .

Indianapolis Children's Museum exterior

Explore the world's largest children's museum

A life-size dinosaur peeks through a window of the massive Children's Museum of Indianapolis , where kids are invited to listen to, touch and climb the exhibits. Its five floors are packed with so many fun exhibits that kids won't even realize they're learning as they play. Children will want to take a swirl on the 1917 Broad Ripple Park Carousel, build toy boats to float along the waterway at ScienceWorks and spend a day with the dinos at Dinosphere, a sound-and-light experience that time travels to the late Cretaceous period 65 million years ago. Outdoor exhibits include the Avenue of Champions which features statues of 16 heroes of sports history, a mini-speedway with pedal racecars and the climbable 25ft-high Fantasy Tree House of Sports.

Scoot around the Bottleworks District

The boutique Bottleworks Hotel , an Art Deco gem that once housed Coca-Cola company executive offices, centers the walkable 12-acre Bottleworks District . The recently restored district was the largest Coca-Cola bottling plant in Indiana before it closed in 1964. The Garage Food Hall , the city's first food hall and community-focused marketplace with 20 independently owned local and regional vendors, occupies two former delivery truck garages. Catch an indie flick at the Living Room Theater or challenge friends to a round of foosball, pinball or duckpin at Pins Mechanical Company . Pick up a Lime scooter-share so you can zip around the chic dining and shopping hub on wheels.

Beer poured into a glass at a brewery in Indianapolis, Indiana

Visit the studios and meet the artists of the Circle City Industrial Complex

Indianapolis' largest and perhaps most vibrant artist community occupies the half-million-sq-ft Circle City Industrial Complex (CCIC). Once upon a time, the Schwitzer Corporation, an early automotive parts manufacturer, churned out turbochargers here; today, artists work and collaborate in the massive space. Every first Friday, the CCIC hosts an open studio event , inviting visitors to connect with local artists through special exhibits, installations and live art-making events. Enjoy a "precision-engineered craft beer" at the dog-friendly Centerpoint Brewing , where a 30-barrel brewing system produces 3000 barrels a year, or a cocktail from 8th Day Distillery , makers of gin, rum, and even absinthe. Or, play a round of the newfangled sport of fowling – a rollicking game that combines football, bowling and cornhole – at Fowling Warehouse . The first person to knock down an opponent's 10 pins (positioned in a typical bowling layout) with a football wins.

What’s the best time to visit Indianapolis?

The best time to visit Indy is at the end of spring and the beginning of fall. This is when the weather is at its best and you can feel free to savor all of the city’s activities. You can book a ticket to a concert venue, visit your favorite museum, or walk through Indy’s peaceful parks. Since Indianapolis sees such extreme polar weather conditions (it can get super cold in the winter and very hot in the summer), your best bet is picking a month where the cold and heat balance each other out. So, September through November and May are your optimal months to visit Indy.

Indianapolis

If, however, you’re here for Indy’s major events, you might want to look at different dates for your plane ticket.

The most important events to check out in the winter are:

– Christmas at the Zoo , during Christmas. Great for kids. Enjoyable due to Indy’s hot drink season, festive choral music, and awesome train rides.

– IPL Yuletide Celebration . Enjoy a true Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra Christmas.

– Carmel Christkindlmarkt , during Christmas. A European Christmas market worth seeing.

Events during spring:

– The Indianapolis 500 . Features Race Day and the Miller Lite Carb Day. The IPL 500 Festival Parade is also popular.

– The Indiana State Fair . Amusement park rides and concerts, fair food.

– Fourth of July . Always fun to explore.

– Symphony on the Prairie . Listen to soothing classical music and watch a fantastic firework show.

A few facts about Indianapolis

If you’re excited about coming to Indy, here are some facts that’ll excite you even more. Did you know that Indianapolis replaced Corydon as the state capital in the year 1821 and that it is the largest major U.S. city not located on a navigable river? The White River passing through Indy is too shallow for that.

Indianapolis Downtown

Indy also features the third largest cemetery in the United States, encompassing 555 acres. Here, John Dillinger , Whitcomb Riley , and Benjamin Harrison are all buried. On the bright side of things, Indy also features the largest Children’s Museum in the world and The Slipper Noodle Inn , one of the city’s most popular bars!

Indy is also called the “crossroads of America” because it has the most interstate legs in the U.S. Here, Elvis Presley held his last concert; the venue was called the Market Square Arena and was demolished in 1977. And if you’re visiting Indy, you must see Eagle Creek Park ! It is one of the largest municipal parks in the country.

You can have anything from vegan to meat-based! Some of the best spots we recommend are Three Carrots , The Spice Box , Circle City Soups , Gomez BBQ , and Mauricio’s Cheesesteak Grill . Don’t forget to pack a delicious snack for later from Twenty-Two Juice or Pat’s Philly Pretzels !

Visit Monument Circle

Your next stop is Monument Circle , where you’ll find out how the Circle City got its nickname. You’ll get to see the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial (especially pretty if you’re here during the Christmas season) and will be able to ride through downtown Indy on a horse-drawn carriage!

Monument Circle, Indianapolis

Check out the Canal Walk

Before your dinner, explore the Canal Walk . You won’t regret it. If you’re able to arrive when the sun sets, your day will end more beautifully.

Indianapolis Canal Walk

The Canal Walk is a calm, peaceful sidewalk along the White River, so ending your day with a slow walk after such a long day is a must.

Dine at the St. Elmo’s Steak House

You cannot leave Indianapolis before trying its world-famous steakhouse. St. Elmo’s been around for decades and it’s the best dining venue around. Their killer steaks blend well with their shrimp cocktails and spicy sauces! This is a must-try!

St. Elmo’s Steak House, Indianapolis

Downtown Indianapolis Things To Do

We are kicking off our list in the urban core – called Mile Square. The area hosts some of the best attractions in Indianapolis!

#1 Climb to the Top of Soldiers and Sailors Monument

Street View of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument, Indianapolis, Indiana

Climbing to the observation deck of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument is a must-do Indianapolis activity. Standing at 285.5 feet in the heart of downtown Indianapolis, the Soldiers and Sailors Monument honors Hoosiers who fought in America’s earliest wars.

The monument, which was completed in 1902, is a symbol of the city and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Inside, visitors can start by climbing 330 for panoramic views of Indy. Climbing up the stairs is one of the best things to do in Indianapolis for free, but you can also ride an elevator for a small fee.

Pro Tip : The nearby City-County Building also offers a free observation deck for visitors.

#2 Walk the Indianapolis Cultural Trail

Walking the Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Indiana

Without a doubt, one of the best things in Indianapolis is walking, jogging or biking the Cultural Trail. The 8-mile paved path weaves through downtown Indy passing some of the best cultural institutions in the city.

Along the route, there are multiple works of art. Visitors intrigued by historic figures should not miss the section called The Glick Peace Walk, which celebrates the lives of profound luminaries.

Pro Tip: One of our favorite spots on the Indianapolis Culture Trail is the bridge on Blackford Street. The views of downtown are picture-perfect!

#3 Feast at the Indianapolis City Market

Must eat at the Indianapolis City Market, Indiana

Foodies, history buffs and architecture fans will all want to put City Market on their Indianapolis to-do list. The City Market dates to 1821 when it opened as a farmers’ market. It relocated to the current building in 1886.

Today, the Indy City Market is a bustling food court with some of the best eateries under one roof. Diners will find a wide range of fare – from southern comfort food to authentic Mexican tamales to Parisian crepes. Just keep in mind, the City Market hours vary and it is currently undergoing a massive makeover.

Pro Tip: One of the unusual Indianapolis points of interest is a nearby plaque honoring Elvis Presley. The King played his last concert at the Indianapolis Market Square Arena (which is no longer standing) in 1977.

#4 Go Underground to the Indianapolis Catacombs

Visitors looking for unique things to do in Indianapolis should consider going underground to the city’s historic catacombs.

The subterranean passageway leads through brick barrel-vaulted arches under the City Market Whistler Plaza. It was used for storing goods for the market upstairs, and many people believe it’s one of the haunted places in Indy.

Top Tip: The catacombs can only be visited by a tour on select Saturdays by Indiana Landmarks . (Unavailable during the market renovation.)

#5 Stand in Awe at the Indiana War Memorial

Looking up at the Indiana War Memorial, Indianapolis

11 Best Time To Visit Indianapolis

The best time for visitors in Indianapolis is from May to August when the weather is warm and ideal for getting out and exploring the city.

Summer is marked by clear skies, plenty of sunshine, and humid conditions, with the temperatures rising to a high of over 83 degrees Fahrenheit in the peak of July.

This is the busiest time for tourists in Naptown, featuring multiple outdoor activities like hiking, biking, and exploring outdoor attractions. As flight and lodging providers hike prices to take advantage of the inflow of travelers, tourists are advised to book well in advance to avoid overspending.

Key summer events include the 4th of July celebrations, Symphony on the Prairie, and the Indiana State Fair .

Pack a swimsuit to cool off in a wading pool or water park when the heat gets unbearable.

For those trying to skip the crowds and avoid the high humidity, the shoulder seasons in spring and fall are an excellent time to visit. Spring hosts the biggest show in town as the Indianapolis 500 race draws fans in their thousands to enjoy the speed spectacle.

During fall, the air is crispy and clean, and the cool colors of fall foliage bring a cheerful vibe to the city. The mild weather allows guests to remain cozy in jeans and a sweater while exploring Indianapolis.

This is a great time to get swept in the festival atmosphere of an Indianapolis Colts game at Lucas Oil Stadium and partake in other festive activities in Indiana during fall , including the Oktoberfest celebrations or the spooky Headless Horseman fall festival.

Winter can be harsh in Indianapolis, lasting three months, with temperatures dipping to a freezing low of 20 degrees Fahrenheit. Several events like the Indianapolis Marathon and Circle of Lights help spread the holiday cheer in winter, but visitors skip town after the New Year’s celebrations.

The best time to travel on a budget is from November to March. Guests can take advantage of great deals during this low season, and hotels offer generous discounts from January to March. Just be ready to brave the Indy cold!

12 Best Ways To Get Around Indianapolis

Travelers have ample options for moving around the beautiful city of Indianapolis and need not worry about getting from point A to B.

Public transportation

There is every reason to learn the ins and outs of public transportation in a new place, as there is a high likelihood it will come in handy. In Indianapolis, IndyGo operates a public bus transit system to ferry residents. The buses offer 31 fixed routes traversing different areas in the city, making it convenient for tourist expeditions.

IndyGo introduced the Red Line, comprising a fleet of new rapid-transit e-buses covering a 13-mile route from Broad Ripple to the Indianapolis University campus via the downtown district.

These come with luxuries such as phone-charging ports, Wi-Fi, and bike storage, which tourists will find convenient.

  • Hours: Monday to Friday (5 am – 1 am), Saturday (6 am – 1 am), Sunday (7 am – 10 pm), passing at 15-minute intervals
  • Ticket: Red Line ($2), Non-Red Line ($1.75, 1-day pass $4, 7-day pass $20, 31-day pass $60, or $17.50 for 10 trips)

Tourists can download the MyKey app to purchase Red Line tickets digitally.

Indy is an excellent city to explore on two wheels, and its Pacers Bikeshare program boasts more than 500 bikes spread across 50 stations in the downtown area that travelers can grab anytime they feel like cycling. The bikes are available for hire 24/7, accessible at a bike-share kiosk or via an app.

Bike trails abound in the city, with the Indianapolis Cultural Trail among the list of favorites. This state-of-the-art bike path cost the city $63 million and stretches 8 miles, linking five districts in downtown Indy (Mass Ave, the Canal and White River State Park, Fountain Square, the Wholesale District, and Indiana Avenue).

  • Bike rental rates: $1 plus .15 per minute or $125 for an annual pass (unlimited hour-long rentals)

Related: The Hike To Rose Island Is Indiana's Perfect Spooky Trail

Those who prefer a less strenuous way of moving around can opt for an electric scooter as a bike alternative. These come in handy when covering short-range travels or bridging the gaps between stops on the IndyGo routes.

However, users can only ride the scooters on the street and bike lanes, never on sidewalks. To rent one, visitors can download an app and then scan a QR code to access the scooter.

  • E-scooter rental rates : $1 plus .30 per minute

Tourists risk a fine when parking their hired electric scooter in restricted areas, including parking spaces and private driveways, or when blocking sidewalk ramps.

Taking a cab is another great option when tourists are unsure where to go or what to see. These can be found at the airport upon arrival and all the way to the downtown district.

Over 30 taxi companies in the city offer this critical service, so it shouldn’t be a problem finding one whenever necessary.

  • Taxi rates: On average, $30-$35 for a 20-minute drive (may vary subject to traffic)

Those who like to soak in the city’s sights and sounds at a snail’s pace will be glad to know that Indy is also very navigable on foot. The downtown area is especially suitable for walkers thanks to its relatively small size and grid system.

Take this opportunity to explore the lively scene and stores in the area. Still, you’ll need to catch a cab to get to key attractions outside the city’s core, such as the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.

Top 5 airlines flying to indianapolis.

We splurged and decided to fly first class. Seats were roomy. But flight crew arrived late to the airport. That delayed our flight. Most of the passengers had to try to make connections flights. I felt bad for them. We checked 4 bags. We got three from the baggage claim carousel. 4th one was lost. Delta online help wasn’t good. Baggage claim staff were sympathetic and nice but we waited around for almost 2 hours and it had t been found. They did find it several hours later and we had to drive back to airport to retrieve it. I won’t be splurging on 1st. Lass again anytime soon. I think we got worse service. I am also not a huge fan of delta but we have family in ATL so we don’t have a ton of choice. What should have been an easy flight turned into a stressful event due to flight crew tardiness and baggage mishandling.

In thirty years of traveling, mostly with Delta, this was the worst day ever.

The flight was so late that I had to change connecting flights, turning a five-hour trip into a fourteen-hour nightmare.

I am so shocked at the service in first class. We were not greeted or offered a beverage for 45 minutes into the flight. She did however have time to write a long note. I just wanted a snack and something to drink. We were never offered coffee and the snacks came after dinner? It was the oddest flight I have ever been on. The gentleman next to me got up and gave our dinner box’s to the flight attendant and asked for a second glass of wine for each of us. Our dinner boxes sat on our tray for 20 minutes. She was rather distracted. He then asked another flight attendant for wine… finally we had a second glass. I was trying to give her some grace, she also told the man next me we couldn’t have any more wine because we drank it all… after landing the seasoned traveler next me ask for her employee number. Then it was a mutiny! She was refusing and it got tense. The captain came and asked what was happening, the flight attendants totally gave a biased account of the fact. The captain told the police the man I was seated next to was intoxicated! That was completely inaccurate and it really escalated things. I policeman found me at the luggage carousel to verify the facts. The flight attendants made false accusations that he touched them! That never happened. It was a very poorly trained crew. I am so anngry and shock by the entire experience! It was terrible service! I would like a refund for what I paid to be in first class and the most uncomfortable flight ever. I always fly Delta, it has been wonderful. I was so flustered by the entire experience! Please give me an update on this matter! Thank you, Kelle Myers

It was reported to the passengers that Delta failed to schedule the crew properly. This error caused the pilot to show up about 30 minutes late. All in all Delta's inability to take care of this basic function resulted in about an hour delay.

Late departure due to large number of wheel chair patrons. Used to having a box of snacks to select from in comfort plus. The flight attendant just rattled off what was available and asked us to pick. Felt rushed and uncomfortable. Seat was great. Prefer having the screen on the seat in front of me instead of having to pull it up from the seat side. Lots of room for my carryon under the seat in front of me.

The airplanes were so old and out-dated it was terrifying to fly on them.

It’s was good. There’s so much room for improvement though. Since the plane was small, there was no entertainment but for years now, the most jarring aspect of travel is the lack of tasty snacks.

The important things including boarding and the flight being on time and safe were excellent. The disappointment comes from the comfort and amenities. Was misled by the "availability" of inflight internet- there is an extra cost. The tray table was broken, the bathroom door stuck and flight attendants were competent but not very friendly.

The Pilot was one of the best I've had, very informative about turbulence and got us to our destination early

This was a short flight with no food. The attendants were great but the comfort was poor: just to cramped. The flight from Denver to Frankfort was excellent! Seating was roomier, food was good, service was good. This was a great experience.

Delayed over an hour due to paperwork not being filed correctly. Forced to change planes.

I still prefer Delta, but Delta doesn’t fly to State College PA.

The seats on the aircraft are like sitting in a rock. During the boarding process they recognize Active Duty Military, why don’t they recognize Retired Military. I’ve always preferred Delta, this flight confirmed why I still prefer Delta.

The flight attendant was very kind and offered my son a snack for free.

Flight was quite late as there was no pilot Crew is usually excellent, this flight not as good as usual there were more mistakes, slower and less friendly service But honestly the aircraft was too cramped and uncomfortable for a 4 hour flying get so, do to the aircraft liability the very best you could ever do is mediocre.

To san Francisco it was ok. From sf to Manila it was horrible

They opened my checked bag and even though my lock was tsa approved, they loose my lock and left my bag just like that. Incompetent people, very upset about it. I’ll try to avoid traveling with united

The passenger in the row in front of me was listening to a political speech on his phone at full volume with no headphones and it was disturbing all of the passengers around him for several rows. I asked 2 of the flight attendants to speak to this passenger but they only shrugged. It was obvious that they were afraid there might be conflict and would not say anything. I had to take it upon myself to tell the passenger that he needed to turn it off or wear headphones as it was disturbing everyone around him not wearing their own headphones. I was very disappointed in the United flight attendants.

Flight was ok. Unfortunately it was a Boeing 737, which is a cramped / tight airplane. I prefer the Airbus as they are a more comfortable flight experience.

The flight was delayed till next day ! They kept delaying every 30 minutes then after 3 hours they delayed it till next day. We kept waiting in line standing more than an hour to get the hotel and meal vouchers. There was no communication at all. Everything was bad

Flight was on time, no drinks served on the two short flights. Comfortable seats.

This flight was fine but had no time to breathe as the connection was late from Sea to ORD.. Super stressful. If we checked bags, the trip would have been very distressed.

The one gate agent was very abrupt and rude. Not a good look for American for the day

It was late, then the bathroom was inoperable plus it was very hot as well. Plane was very old

Other than Charlotte airport being crowded and a mush of people at the gate and even through the priority lane, the flight was great.

This time there was nothing to be better, really! Boarding on time, taking off on time and arriving earlier. The only complain is about way too long line at pre-check security point at DFW. But this is the airport’s problem, not American Airline.

3 hours late. Second consecutive time this month that a flight from DFW was delayed 3+ hours.

Seats were very uncomfortable. I paid extra for a seat with more leg room, the seat was no different than a seat at the back of the plane. Flight attendant was rude.

Departure more than an hour later. Conexion/waiting time at the airport was more than 7 hours :(

Comfortable and plenty of. Having to buy water and coffee, though is ridiculous!

Better overall experience from my first flight with Spirit several years ago. Efficient boarding (albeit I arrived after all rows were called) and flight actually left earlier than planned. I am still baffled by being charged for everything, even a non-alcoholic beverage. And there is definitely less seat room which makes a flight that’s more than 2 hours really uncomfortable.

Check in was made easy with the ladies at the luggage. they were fast and so kind. You should pay them more.

This was the best spirit airlines fight I have ever had. I take spirit up to 3 or more times a year and I am ready to be the Jared of spirit. 🤪 Best flight ever. Everyone was great. I hope my return flight is the same. When you're traveling with a 9 month old you need a different type of care and accommodation. I didn't ask the staff for anything but I didn't have any added stress.

Purchasing tickets on their website is upsetting, they take the consumer for a ride...I wanted 2 tickets for me and my friend but we only had one carry on between the two of us. It was impossible to only pay for one - I had to pay for 2 carry ons and blew $50! Shame on their sleazy business practices! The seats in the airplane are shockingly uncomfortable! In the future I will only fly Spirit if I have no other reasonably priced choice. The flight and the crew were good. But still: Go Southwest Airlines!!!

Could at least have little recline in economy seats and windows to the last row, they were super uncomfortable and lots of chit chat and disturbance from the operation of crew members and other passengers

The plane crew made the decision to leave a LARGE group of us passengers who were stuck literally at the gate next to the Las Vegas flight & trying to get off. We were lied to & told the Vegas to Dallas plane was going to wait for us. I’m having to fly the whole night to my destination now because of this

Doubt that you care, the flight from OAK to Las Vegas took longer on the runway when we arrived. The flight attendants & pilot announced that they knew a lot of us were getting on a connection to Dallas & that it was waiting for us. Lied. Ended up having to take another layover & it’s added way more time to my flights. The ticketing staff at the gates were extremely rude. I don’t think I ever want to fly Spirit again.

Everyone on the plane was wonderful. I can't say that the trip of flying was wonderful because I hadn't done that since I was 13 years old. Honestly I was terrified. What would make it better is if they didn't drive so fast but I know they have to. And if they could go up slowly and land slowly. But none of that they can control.

Was told by one of the helpers at spirit in Detroit that I had to pay for my bag that could fit on the over head bin after I asked her repeatedly well what about the over head bin can’t my bag fit in there she said no I had to check it. Then sent me the long way to the tsa when my gate was the other way. I didn’t have that problem in Chicago.

Nothing about the flight was good. The crew was rude and unwilling to assist would never recommend this airline to anyone and for sure will not fly it again

The plane was very clean, the flight attendants were chipper and accommodating. It was roomy

There was extremely long wait times to check in my bags and pass through TSA. I almost missed my flights on several occasions.

I didn’t have enough time to catch my connecting flight and had to use a different Airline. I will be requesting a refund.

There were a lot of issues at the gate in Atlanta — which caused delays in boarding and getting to our destination. The aircraft and crew were excellent.

It was fine. The flight was delayed for 3 hours. I had things scheduled in Detroit, and I let a lot of people down by not being there on time.

First time experience and though you'll pay for *everything* meaning bags, water/snacks, even a question with a service agent - - all in all, not a bad experience whatsoever.

Long lines, rude staff, everything that's offered you have to pay for.

Among the worst flights I’ve taken. Never again. Staff was horrible across the entire Frontier workforce. Flight attendants were legitimately yelling at and arguing with each other while on board - toxic environment (really guys? at work and in front of customers no less?). Frontier intentionally assigned my partner and I (who booked together) to opposite ends of the plane despite plenty of seats together - straight up predatory practices to take people’s money. Seats are legit the absolute worst. Not even free coffee. Absolute garbage airline with wild hidden fees and the worst staff in the business. They will for sure have a deadly accident soon. Never again, not for any where not for any price.

My departure gate was E10 but no kiosk at E10 for check in & no one to ask. A United attendant helped direct us to E38 for check in. The kiosks at E38 were all malfunctioning. A counter agent had to check us in. We then had to walk back to E10 for boarding. E10 to E38 at DfW is not an easy trek. No where in all the info they sent us indicated there were issues to over come. They can cut only so many corners. Luckily we arrived plenty early to deal with Frontier’s inefficiency.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana looks to stay undefeated when Charlotte comes to town in Week 4.

Indiana opened as a 27.5-point favorite over Charlotte, and that line has moved to 28.5 points in the Hoosiers' favor as of Monday morning, according to the FanDuel Sportsbook.

The over/under is set at 48.5 points. Indiana's moneyline odds are minus-10,000, and Charlotte is a plus-2,400 underdog on the moneyline.

Kickoff is scheduled for Noon ET at Memorial Stadium, and the game will be broadcast on Big Ten Network. Maryland also hosts Villanova on Saturday at Noon ET on BTN, so use the BTN GameFinder to find the exact channel based on your zip code and television provider.

Indiana football against the spread in 2024

  • Week 1:  Indiana did not cover a 25.5-point spread as favorites in its 31-7 win at home against Florida International. The game went under 52 points.
  • Week 2:  Indiana covered a 44.5-point spread as favorites in its 77-3 win at home against Western Illinois. The game went over 54.5 points.
  • Week 3: Indiana covered a 4-point spread as favorites in its 42-13 win at UCLA. The game went over 46.5 points.

Indiana is off to a 3-0 start in its first season under coach Curt Cignetti. After easy nonconference wins over FIU and Western Illinois, the Hoosiers proved themselves against a Big Ten opponent on the road by dominating UCLA at the Rose Bowl.

Quarterback Kurtis Rourke completed 25 of 33 pass attempts for 307 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions. He is turnover-free through three games as a Hoosier after transferring in from Ohio University. Rourke's former Ohio teammate Miles Cross led the Hoosiers with 90 receiving yards and a touchdown against the Bruins.

Indiana's defense held UCLA to 238 total yards, and linebacker Aiden Fisher led the Hoosiers with nine tackles. Mikail Kamara recovered a fumble in the first quarter, and Amare Ferrell intercepted a pass in the fourth, helping the Hoosiers win the turnover margin 2-0.

Charlotte arrives in Bloomington with a 1-2 record in 2024 and a 4-11 overall record in two seasons under coach Biff Poggi. The 49ers are also 1-2 against the point spread, covering as 21-point underdogs at North Carolina and failing to cover the spread at home against James Madison and Gardner-Webb.

Charlotte began the season with a 30-7 home loss to James Madison, followed by a 38-20 loss at North Carolina.

On Saturday, the 49ers defeated Gardner-Webb 27-26, overcoming a 17-3 halftime deficit at home. Charlotte scored 21 points in the fourth quarter, including two touchdown passes from Trexler Ivey and a 39-yard touchdown run from Hashaun Wilson.

Indiana received 13 votes in Sunday's AP Top 25 poll and has a chance to start 4-0 for the first time since the 2020 season.

Best Places to Work in Indiana

Our international airport has been named top in North America consistently for the last decade. We're expanding our convention center, which—coupled with Lucas Oil Stadium—offers 745,000 square feet of exhibit space, making it one of the largest convention facilities in the United States. And that facility is linked by climate-controlled skywalks to more hotel rooms than in any other city (12 hotels and 4,700 rooms). It's all come together to make ours a natural, top-pick convention city.

Assisted by our promotion, the Indianapolis tourism industry is taking a giant leap forward—a leap that will add to what is already a significant contribution to our city and state economy. Our most recent (pre-pandemic) figures show Indianapolis receiving 29.2 million annual visitors, who spend roughly $5.6 billion dollars. Visitor spending supports more than 82,900 full-time equivalent employment positions in our hospitality industry. Tourism also produces $1.26 billion in tax receipts each year - including $725 million in state and local government tax. Tourism is big business and it is helping Indy race ahead.

In recent years, our efforts on behalf of the city have won multiple national industry awards (including the Gold Service Award from  Meetings & Conventions , the Pinnacle Award from  Successful Meetings  and the Distinctive Achievement Award from  Association Convention and Facilities ). We're proud of those awards. But we're never satisfied. Which is why we will continue pushing ourselves harder, to push our city even higher.

Visit Indy is proudly certified through The Good Wages Initiative which celebrates Marion County employers who provide full-time employees both a wage of at least $18/hr and access to health insurance benefits.

With this continued learning comes continued advocacy to close gaps in our community. We listen and engage with our city’s diverse communities to create authentic marketing to reach, invite, and welcome a diverse array of visitors. Within our walls, we work to create an environment where everyone feels empowered to bring their full, authentic selves to work. Indiana means “Land of the Indians,” and we acknowledge and honor the indigenous communities native to our city, the Miami and Lenape peoples. We have the distinct responsibility to help educate our visitors and our hospitality community about these living cultures.
