Oceania Cruises' 180-Day Cruise Will Visit 34 Countries in 2024

Oceania's world cruise will stop in almost 100 destinations in 180 days.

oceania world cruise 2024 itinerary

After record demand for its 2023 world cruise, Oceania Cruises has unveiled the itinerary for its epic global voyage for 2024. The cruise line's 180-day journey around the world will set sail on January 14, 2024, and visit more than 96 destinations in 34 different countries.

"Incredibly, last year our 2023 world cruise sold out in just one day, so for 2024 we are providing guests more extended voyage options to deeply and meaningfully rediscover the world," Howard Sherman, President and CEO of Oceania Cruises, said in a statement shared with Travel + Leisure.

Oceania's "Around the World in 180 Days" cruise will depart from Los Angeles and cross more than three oceans and 15 seas as it makes its way around the globe to New York. The journey, on the Oceania Insignia, stops at more than 100 UNESCO World Heritage sites with 24 overnight stays.

Passengers will journey across the Pacific, through French Polynesia and Australia before continuing onto destinations like Japan and Vietnam's Ha Long Bay. The voyage continues along the shores of India and the Arabian Peninsula before sailing across Europe and completing its route across the Atlantic in New York.

The 2024 "Around the World" journey starts at $48,499 per person and includes roundtrip first-class airfare and amenities like prepaid gratuities, laundry, and luggage delivery. During your days at sea, you can keep yourself busy with spa appointments, art workshops, the casino, cabaret, and four open-seating restaurants — not to mention the daily afternoon tea service accompanied by a four-string quartet. There is also a fitness center and sports deck, and of course, a saltwater pool with two hot tubs.

Around-The-World Cruises for the Trip of a Lifetime

But if half a year at sea seems a bit too long, Oceania has also created four new Grand Voyages , varying in length from 72 to 82 days. "While a globe-circling journey is the pinnacle of life-changing travel experiences, we have specially curated a set of Grand Voyages for seasoned and time-rich travelers to navigate storied seas, straits, and oceans that boldly connect diverse and exotic corners of the globe," Sherman said.

The four journeys include routes from Los Angeles to Sydney, Abu Dhabi to Tokyo, Mumbai to Tokyo, and Papeete to Cape Town. The voyages start at $15,199 per person and prices vary, depending on the destination.

If you need a little more time to decide, Oceania Cruises has also released the itinerary for their 2025 Around-the-World Cruise which will flip the script and travel east to west from New York, passing through Latin America, Southern Africa, India, Asia, and Australia before finishing in San Diego.

Due to the continued situation in the Red Sea, Oceania notified the 2024 Around the World cruisers tonight of our revised itinerary.  We will depart from Dubai on May 14 and head around Africa reaching the Canary Islands on June 21. So far we are confirmed until June 26 in LaCoruna, Spain.  They are still working on confirming a preferred itinerary that will continue to take us to Greenland and some Canadian ports.  Definitely lots of changes, but absolutely necessary for our safety.

Better to be safe but Oh dear that's sad for those like us who were booked on the Barcelona to London segment. I guess that will be cancelled.

If anyone can please post the updated itinerary and map with the changes that would be great.  Thanks!

Check out the roll call.

There is the new itinerary posted....although they are still working on two options towards the end.

I guess Riviera changes will be next.

A huge task with many changes coming up.

Riviera's May 29th, Trieste - Trieste, 29 day cruise originally was ALL ports.

Not a single sea day in the 29 days.

Yes unfortunately they don't even get to Spain until after we were supposed to have disembarked in London. So sad.  It was such a perfect itinerary for me!

I guess it's back to the drawing board or resort to a road/rail trip

Lauren, I feel exactly the same way about this Barcelona-Southampton itinerary for our segment. It was perfect, and rare among the Western Med cruise itineraries.

Even though I'm disappointed, I understand why they had to do it. Wishing everyone safe travels.

I was also pretty impressed how fast the cancellation letter came with the offer of credit toward airfares already booked . I'm contemplating another cruise at a similar time so all is not lost.

I dont muck around either I must say - Ive rebooked ourselves already - Trieste to Athens - its a shorter cruise but has some nice ports ( Croatia and Bari have been on my list for some time)- Ive been to Venice multiple times so might stop somewhere else on the way in - maybe Verona for a day or so. Oceania are covering the airfare change fees and the cruise is on a good discount and cheaper than the original so Im going to keep the return flight from London on the date we were due to fly out and go somewhere in between Athens and there ( Maybe Bordeaux, and or maybe a Greek Island at the end of the cruise for a couple of days )

We had a GREAT deal for the Dubai to Barcelona leg going through the Red Sea.  Of course we anticipated an itinerary change, and thought it would turn into a 24 day cruise down the east coast of Africa maybe starting somewhere other than Dubai.  Didn't expect the cancellation notice today.  Oh well...

Yes I thought perhaps they would start going south after Mumbai in order to get around and back up to Barcelona - but then that was solely thinking from my selfish point of view.  Oh well - hopefully that itinerary will turn up again another year

Lauren, funny you should have mentioned next year.  We had just said to each other that we would have to look for it next year.  It had a nice bunch of sea days up through the Red Sea, which we love more than a lot of ports.  We did another segment a few years ago for 35 days from Hong Kong to the cape with 17 ports, and I can't recall much about a lot of them.  Of course this couldn't be ageing.

Hi PBtroy…since the Red Sea sailing was cancelled, did O provide you with a Future Cruise Credit ?

The Email in part:

We have been monitoring the situation in the Red Sea and despite our best hopes that it would de-escalate, prudence dictates that we alter our published voyage itineraries that were to transit through the region. This includes   Insignia ’s 2024 Around the World cruise, of which your sailing was a segment.

With this in mind, we must cancel your booked voyage aboard   Insignia   that was scheduled to   depart Dubai on May 13 due to the re-routed Around the World cruise itinerary.

You will automatically receive a full (100%) refund to the original form of payment received by Oceania Cruises of all funds that have been applied to your reservation.   If a Future Cruise Credit was utilized as payment in part or in whole, the same amount will be credited back to a Future Cruise Credit. Future Cruise Credits do not expire. A ll government taxes along with ancillary items purchased through Oceania Cruises will also be refunded. Ancillary items eligible for refund include Oceania Cruises’ travel protection, transfers, shore excursions, hotel/land packages, air add-ons and fees, visas, pre-purchased beverage packages and culinary experiences.

  • 1 month later...

For the around the world passengers, the decision about what to offer was woefully insufficient given the drastic change. In the last 60 days alone, sea days increased from 18 to 32 (78%) to the point that sea days are now 53.3% of the itinerary. After a letter signed by 156 ATW passengers was sent to Carlos Ortega, Frank A. Del Rio and others; Oceania offered an FCC worth  5% of the fare. It was originally restricted to use only on the 2025 and 2026 ATW and/or their segments. Oceania removed that restriction at the time they offered the 5% FCC.

A second letter will soon be sent because from the perspective of the number of ports and port hours, ATW passengers will have lost 13% of the expected experience of the cruise. We shall see if Oceania responds and if they do, what their response will be to their most loyal and highest spending clients.

It should be said that both Viking and Royal Caribbean had to make similar changes for the same reason. Both made more appropriate adjustments and provided significantly more options.

5,000+ Club

I would think the larger question for Oceania is how many of those 25 &26 ATWer are going to look at this and bail?

Good to hear ATW 2024 passengers got something back.  So, no compensation for those that want to depart in Dubai? Sorry to hear that these changes spoil somewhat what should be a fun cruise.

ATW 2025 is not going through the Red Sea so itinerary is probably not going to change.  ATW 2026 is going through the Red Sea but I am prepared for an itinerary change in case the situation in the Middle East doesn't improve.  I am mainly going on ATW 2026 for the Vista ship and if the ship gets rerouted to Africa, I'll be okay as I never been around that area but it would be nice to get some compensation.  So, the situation for ATW 2024 will dictate what I should expect.

While we know that Oceania has no control over the weather and the political situations in the world; they do control how they respond. In addition to the changes made because of the Red Sea conflict, three other ports were missed because of weather or other reasons. The sea days are starting to increase significantly. If no more ports are missed, sea days will represent 42.8% versus 30% of the total itinerary. The reduction in ports visited is significant. And the time in many some ports old and new has been reduced making it difficult to have a decent experience.

The message that we are receiving from Oceania's response is that loyal, high spending clients are not valued and that we can be replaced. We probably can but we expected better. At the very least we expected Oceania match the responses that Viking and Royal Caribbean made their clients affected by the same circumstances.

We’re thinking about going on the complete 2026 world cruise.  Does anyone know about how many duplicate bridge tables there have been throughout the 2024 Oceania world cruise?

oceania world cruise 2024 itinerary

Oceania wants travelers to live on its new luxury cruise ship for 6 months while it sails to 43 countries. A trip starts at $60K — see what it'll be like.

  • Oceania announced a 180-day 2026 world cruise from Miami to 101 ports, starting at $59,700 a person.
  • The premium cruise brand tapped its new luxury ship, Vista , for the 43-country itinerary.
  • Oceania's 2024 world cruise set sail in January after it sold out in 30 minutes.

Insider Today

Oceania Cruises wants you to spend at least $59,700 — and 180 days — living on its newest cruise ship while it sails 360 degrees around the globe.

And if the itinerary's bookings are anything like the company's previous global sailings , this six-month cruise could sell out — fast. Bookings for this cruise officially open on March 13.

The brand's around-the-world itineraries have become wildly hyped over the last few years. In January, its most recent world cruise on the fully booked Insignia departed from Los Angeles on a similar 180-day, 96-port journey.

When reservations opened two years prior, that ship was sold out in 30 minutes. Oceania is a high-end brand of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings.

Looking ahead, Oceania’s 2026 global itinerary is set to be bigger, better, and on a newer ship.

oceania world cruise 2024 itinerary

The premium cruise line has frequently picked the 684-guest Insignia as its world cruise vessel of choice.

But this time, it's switching "ship" up: The company has tapped its newest vessel, the 1,200-guest Vista, for its 2026 itinerary. And it won't be a light trial run: The sailing is set to include 101 ports across 43 countries — and the cruise line says tours will hit 81 UNESCO World Heritage sites .

On January 6, 2026, Oceania says the Vista will depart Miami and spend the first six weeks sailing to destinations along the coast of South America.

oceania world cruise 2024 itinerary

The ship would then head back north to ports in Mexico, Southern California, and Hawaii before chugging along to South Pacific islands like Bora Bora.

From there, the itinerary includes several ports in Australia.

oceania world cruise 2024 itinerary

After these stops, the ship would head north and west, continuing to destinations like Singapore and Mumbai as it sails from Southeast Asia to India.

From the world’s most populous country, the Vista would then journey to Middle East destinations like Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and Muscat, Oman.

oceania world cruise 2024 itinerary

After sailing through the Suez Canal, the ship would begin hitting a series of ports throughout the Mediterranean, Europe, and the British Isles.

And following a few stops in Iceland, the Vista would finally begin its journey back to North America.

oceania world cruise 2024 itinerary

After pit stops in Halifax, Canada, New York, and Charleston, South Carolina, the half-year journey would finally conclude where it started: in sunny Miami.

Whew, what a journey!

Throughout these six months, travelers would get to live out their “Suite Life on Deck” dreams.

oceania world cruise 2024 itinerary

The new 791-foot-long Vista flexes cabins that start at 240 square feet.

Seafaring guests could spend their days at sea luxuriating in the ship's spa and library.

Folks who prefer to occupy their time with more hands-on activities can instead take cooking and art classes.

Oceania says its culinary program and “destination-focused” itineraries are its bread-and-butter.

oceania world cruise 2024 itinerary

The latter has already been covered: The 2026 world cruise is set to hit 101 ports, after all.

As for the former, Oceania's Vista could have enough restaurants to satisfy even the pickiest of foodies.

The almost one-year-old ship has 11 dining options, from afternoon tea to dishes created by the ship's godmother, celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis.

Guests could spend their mornings grabbing an espresso at the coffee shop.

oceania world cruise 2024 itinerary

And at night (or any time: it's five o'clock "somewhere" when you sail through every time zone, right?), guests can sip on flashy bourbon and rye-based cocktails at the Founders Bar.

Six months at sea isn’t for everyone. But for some travelers, the itinerary’s starting cost of $59,700 per person could be an absolute steal.

oceania world cruise 2024 itinerary

Planning a multi-country trip can be complex: Think of all the hotels, flights, and land transportation you'd have to coordinate.

But on a world cruise, these logistics are all planned for you. Oceania's fare also includes first-class roundtrip flights and transfers, internet, and laundry.

The best part?

oceania world cruise 2024 itinerary

You'll probably lose fewer pairs of socks on a world cruise versus a do-it-yourself vacation: No need to unpack and repack every few days when you'll be living in the same cabin for the entire vacation.

Oceania cruises to debut 1,250-guest riviera in alaska in 2025.

Oceania Cruises to Showcase New Culinary Tours and Imaginative Itineraries

MIAMI , Sept. 12, 2024 /PRNewswire/ --  Oceania Cruises ® , the world's leading culinary- and destination-focused cruise line, is offering more than a dozen immersive explorations of Alaska in 2025, taking travelers beyond typical tourist sights to discover the unique perspectives, local culture, soaring glaciers, and pristine wilderness of "The Last Frontier." An Oceania Cruises first, the 1,250-guest Riviera™  will sail her first season in Alaska making her the first and only cruise ship in the region designed for foodies, by foodies, where travelers will enjoy the best of the 49th state, paired with the Riviera's luxurious small-ship ambiance and myriad of gourmet culinary experiences.

The 2025 Alaska season takes place from May through September, offering a variety of itineraries ranging from seven to 12 days that depart from Seattle , Vancouver , and Whittier . Each itinerary features both lesser-known and iconic ports such as Homer , Sitka , and Juneau , giving travelers plentiful opportunities to engage with the destination on an entirely new level through Native tribe site visits, national park excursions, wildlife encounters, and more. Each sailing also features a naturalist on board to offer expert insights into the incredible biodiversity of Alaska , covering everything from whales to bears and seals.

"We're thrilled to bring our 1,250-guest Riviera to Alaska for the very first time," said Frank A. Del Rio , President of Oceania Cruises. "Our elegant, ultra-premium small-ship experience offers the perfect juxtaposition to Alaska's outdoor adventures, and with Riviera being 30 to 50 percent smaller than other premium cruise lines sailing in the region, we're able to bring our guests to lesser-known, more remote ports, for a true immersion into this fascinating destination."

The timeless allure of Alaska means it is a perfect destination for multi-generational gatherings; teens, parents, and grandparents alike will marvel at the majesty of the landscape and the amazing wildlife. Oceania Cruises' popular Alaska Explorer Youth Program is available on all voyages in the region in 2025. Designed for children between the ages of 5 to 12 years old, the program will include engaging games, activities, and Alaska -inspired special events, where young adventurers will be supervised by experienced and enthusiastic youth counselors.

To further enhance Oceania Cruises' robust cruise itineraries, guests have the option to include a pre- or post-cruise land program where they'll have the opportunity to explore even more of Alaska . Among the land programs offered is Discover Denali, where travelers will enjoy one show-stopping vista after another, including North America's highest peak, while exploring Denali National Park , the first national park created specifically to protect wildlife.

Covering a mind-blowing six million acres, Denali offers true insight into the 49th state. With over two full days in the park, Oceania Cruises' guests will revel in a fully escorted experience including travel by domed railcar and along scenic byways through the iconic wilds of Alaska. Wildlife-spotting opportunities abound – including bald eagles, caribou, and Dall sheep – alongside marveling at glacial-fed rivers and the chance to see the original ranger's cabin, once the only outpost in the vast park. The four day / three night program also features an Alaskan Native presentation on the history of the land and a natural history tour.

Shipboard Highlights of Riviera – The Only True Foodie Ship in Alaska

The beautifully reinspired 1,250-guest Riviera offers an unparalleled experience to curious world travelers. Guests will enjoy incredibly spacious standard staterooms measuring an astounding 291 square feet, with all categories of staterooms having been stunningly reimagined with luxurious furnishings, thoughtful design touches, and larger showers. Riviera is the only true foodie ship sailing in Alaska , boasting one chef for every 10 guests and seven open-seating gourmet restaurants including the four always included specialty dining venues: the Polo Grill Steakhouse; Italian Toscana; Asian-fusion Red Ginger ; and French restaurant, Jacques.

In addition, Oceania Cruises incorporates the culinary scene of The Last Frontier into its guest experience through new hands-on cooking classes in The Culinary Center and the Chef's Market Dinners in the Terrace Café curated by the onboard culinary team using fresh, local ingredients from the region.
