For the latest up-to-date information on licensure requirements and fees, visit the Wyoming Board of Nursing website or contact the Wyoming Board of Nursing licensing division at (307) 7761-7601 .

Licensure Requirements

If you have a multi-state nursing license, you’re in luck. Wyoming is a compact state, and you will not need to apply for a Wyoming nursing license if you already have a multi-state nursing license.

If you don’t hold a nursing license from a compact state, don’t worry. You can still apply for a Wyoming nursing license by endorsement.

To receive a Wyoming nursing license by endorsement , you’ll need to:

  • Create an account on the Wyoming Board of Nursing website. Select the Nurse Portal link on our website and create an account. Once you have created an account, you may select the “apply for licensure” box in the upper right-hand corner and select the appropriate application by endorsement. Read all of the instructions carefully before completing the application.
  • Pay all necessary fees including licensure fee ($135), criminal background check fee ($60), and processing fee ($5).

We only accept credit/debit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or a debit card. If you do not have a credit card or debit card, you can purchase a Visa, MasterCard, or Discover gift card at many banks or credit unions or at discount stores such as Walmart to pay for the online application.

  • Pass a criminal background check . All individuals seeking a nursing license in the state of Wyoming must submit, along with the other requirements for licensure, fingerprint cards . These are used to obtain a Criminal Background Check (CBC) from the Department of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).
  • Submit verification of your current nursing license. The Wyoming Board of Nursing permits licensure verification through Nursys Ⓡ . If your original state of licensure does not participate in Nursys Ⓡ , you will need to complete the LPN-RN Verification Form and forward the form to your original.
  • Submit your official transcripts with the degree posted and the date awarded to WSBN from the school, either electronically ( [email protected] )  or through the mail.

Please allow up to forty-five (45) business days to complete the process. Once we have received all required documents (i.e. verification, transcripts, etc.) and the CBC, we will issue your license.

A temporary permit (good for 90 days) may be requested on an application. Once we have received a complete application (i.e. transcripts, license verification, fingerprint cards, etc.) a temporary permit is usually issued within 1-3 business days.

Licensure Fees

Application fees for licensure by endorsement include:

  • Licensure fee: $135
  • Background check: $60
  • Processing fee: $5
  • Temporary permit: $25

Nurse Licensure Compact Status

Jackson Hole, Wyoming is one of the country’s premier ski and snowboarding destinations. Here, luxurious hotels, fine dining and upscale boutiques are all located just steps from the slopes.

When the snow isn’t falling, the Cowboy State still has adventure to offer such as hiking through Yellowstone, the world’s first National park. It’s a land full of wildlife, waterfalls, rivers, a petrified forest and of course, geysers like Old Faithful.

In northeast Wyoming, the summit of Devil Tower summons climbers near and far. Those who conquer the 5,114 foot peak can enjoy the view and take epic photographs of the vast surrounding landscape.

Wyoming is the least populous state in the country and wide open spaces cover much of the area. Rock climbing and snow sports are only a few of the exhilarating outdoor activities this rugged land has to offer. Whitewater rafting, camping, boating, fishing, hunting and more could all be on your agenda in Wyoming.

Wyoming Travel Nursing Jobs

Wyoming Travel Nursing: Wyoming is Forever West. The essence of the American West. Wyoming is all that countless movies, books and legends have tried to capture and imitate. This Western Spirit lives on today in the Cowboy State. The name Wyoming has its origins in an Algonquin word meaning “large prairie place.” From its broad high plains to its soaring mountains, from its storied past on the frontier to its role in the ancient histories of native peoples, Wyoming is said to be no place on Earth.

Travel nurses on assignment in Wyoming experience a friendly atmosphere with numerous travel destinations; America’s first national park, Yellowstone National Park, lies predominantly in Wyoming’s northwestern corner, and Old Faithful is a must-see in this active geothermal region. If you’re entering the park through the east entrance, catch a glimpse of the Wild West in Cody. Here, the Buffalo Bill Historical Center chronicles the history of the American frontier, and the Rodeo Capital of the World comes alive during the summer at the Cody Nite Rodeo. At the park’s south entrance, Jackson greets visitors with nationally acclaimed skiing and the breathtaking Grand Teton National Park. If you haven’t been here yet, it’s time you discover Wyoming travel nursing.
