If you haven’t heard, Starlink is now available to use while traveling. For most users, roaming is now enabled, which lets you use your dish and router while on the road.

Even if you’re hundreds of miles from your service address, roaming allows you to setup and configure your Starlink service wherever you’d like. Whether you’re a full time RV camper or an occasional weekend warrior, this opens up a whole new realm of possibilities.

Simply put, if you’d like to use Starlink while you travel, you’re going to need to get used to frequently setting up the hardware, and taking it down just as often. That said, you’re going to want a safe and dependable storage solution.

While you could simply use the cardboard box that the dish and router shipped in, this isn’t always ideal. Needless to say, it isn’t well-padded. Over time, it’ll surely break down and become flimsy. In addition, it’s not even slightly water-resistant. And if you’re an experienced traveler or full time RVer, you know even just a little bit of water resistance goes a long way.

Best Starlink Dish & Router Storage Case

Opting for a hard-case is a smart idea. Sure, it’ll add a bit of an expense, but in the long run, a dedicated storage case for your Starlink is nearly essential while traveling. Since we published our article on the best Starlink dish mounts , we’ve received several inquiries regarding which storage cases are best for the equipment.

Today we’re going to explore our options. Over the past week, we’ve spent hours researching and testing the best solutions for Starlink dish and router storage cases for travel. Thankfully, we’ve found several excellent options that are all readily available. Let’s get right into it!

Pelican 1610 Case

Best Overall: Pelican 1610 Case (with foam)

As a top of the line option, the Pelican 1610 Case is the best choice, in our opinion. Although it’s quite expensive, it’s clearly the best designed and manufactured storage case for the Starlink equipment. It comes included with a block of foam that’s fully customizable to the exact shape of the dish, router and cables. In addition, the lid has an overabundance of foam padding to ensure the hardware is fully encased in a soft, overly padded enclosure.

Pelican 1610 Case

With the outer dimensions measuring 24.83 x 11.88 x 19.69 inches, it’s moderately compact without taking up too much space. While the interior dimensions are said to be 21.78 x 16.69 x 10.62 inches, it actually fits the Starlink equipment just right with a tight but snug fit. Although the tripod base measures 22 inches from tip to tip, it actually fits perfectly from edge to edge at a slight angle.

Design & Build Quality

While the Pelican 1610 is also available without foam , we highly recommend using the case with foam . The inner foam comes as a complete block but is perforated in several small blocks. The first thing you’ll need to do is shape it to the precise size of the equipment. Luckily, the foam is divided into several layers and is easily “picked and plucked” so you can create perfect voids for the router, dish and cables.

Pelican 1610 Case

The best part of the Pelican case is the ruggedness that it offers. Simply put, the thing is built like a tank. Comprised of a thick, black polypropylene material, it’s considered military grade. In fact, it even provides a watertight seal with the use of a polymer o-ring and a tongue and groove fit between the lid and the lower compartment.

While you’re likely not going to throw it in a lake or toss it down a hill, it’s built to withstand almost anything. Additionally, there’s even two stainless steel reinforced padlock protectors for locking it up when necessary. Lastly, it’s worth mentioning that the Pelican 1610 has its very own purge valve. This automatically equalizes the internal pressure and assures that water stays out. This features is ideal for those who find themselves traveling between high and low elevations.

  • Incredibly durable with a thick, rugged exterior.
  • Pluck and pull foam is easy to customize.
  • Steel reinforced padlock holes.
  • Completely waterproof with an air-tight seal and purge valve.
  • The best, most heavy duty option available.
  • Relatively expensive.
  • A bit heavy and bulky for some scenarios.

Ezy Storage Waterproof Plastic Storage Tote

Best Runner-Up: Ezy Storage Waterproof Plastic Storage Tote

The Ezy Waterproof Plastic Storage Tote is a much less expensive alternative to the Pelican case. The 75-liter size measures 25.98 x 18.5 x 13.15 inches on the outside, with just enough room inside for the Starlink dish, router and accessories.

Ezy Storage Waterproof Plastic Storage Tote

Although it doesn’t come with any internal padding or foam, using the original plastic insert from the Starlink box is ideal. Hopefully you have this saved, as it offers a simple yet effective way for this storage container to work perfectly.

Simply place it in the container exactly as you would with the original cardboard box it came shipped in, and you’re good to go. There’s even a little bit of extra space to add other equipment. However, we highly recommend adding some extra bubble wrap or padding to fill this void.

The Ezy Storage Tote looks like a standard plastic storage bin, but it’s actually made much better than your typical version. In fact, it comes with a lid that provides an airtight seal, making it IP67 rated.

This rating means the entire box is able to be fully submerged in water of up to 1 meter deep. Ultimately, this means that you can keep it outside or in an area that may have some moisture, and never need to worry about your Starlink equipment that’s placed inside.

Ezy Storage Waterproof Plastic Storage Tote

Around the top perimeter, there’s six individual latches that tightly snap-down the lid. The lid itself has its own rubber gasket that creates the perfect air-tight seal. While the plastic isn’t quite as “tough” as the Pelican, it’s relatively heavy duty. In fact, we found it to be a bit thicker than your standard storage tote.

In addition, the exterior side of the lid has an indentation that creates a stable surface for an additional Ezy tote to be placed. Realistically, this means you can use multiple bins to stack in a neat and efficient manner for any extra gear you may need to bring along. However, they’ll need to be of the same brand for this to work as well as it should.

  • Made from heavy duty plastic.
  • Much less expensive than the Pelican case.
  • Six sturdy latches create a strong seal between the lid and tote.
  • Offers an IP67 airtight and watertight seal.
  • Clear so you can see what’s inside the container.
  • Has a little bit of extra space; must place padding or bubble wrap for a snug fit.
  • Not quite as “bombproof” as the Pelican case.
  • Difficult to stack other brand totes on top.

HDX 17 Gal Storage Tote

Best Alternative: HDX 17 Gal. Storage Tote

For those who want a simple and inexpensive option, we highly recommend checking out the HDX 17 Gal. Storage Tote . Although it’s not quite as rugged and tightly sealed as the Pelican 1610 or Ezy tote, it offers a good fit without any gap on either side.

HDX 17 Gal Storage Tote

Using the original plastic insert that originally shipped with your Starlink equipment, you can simply drop it in. While it may need a nudge to push down to the bottom of the tote, it provides a relatively tight fit. In fact, extra padding is not entirely necessary. Externally measuring 27 x 18 x 12.5 inches, it provides an excellent fit for the dish and router, but there isn’t much remaining space for the cables.

The material used in the composition of the HDX storage tote is fairly rugged. The thick black plastic is excellent for keeping out UV rays, but it’ll heat up quickly if left out in the sun for too long. In fact, the plastic seems to be even thicker than the Ezy tote, although it doesn’t provide an air/water tight seal around the edge of the lid.

HDX 17 Gal Storage Tote

The lid snaps on with ease and secures firmly around the entire edge. While there isn’t a rubber gasket to keep out water and moisture, the lid is indented so stacking additional totes is very easy. When shut, it forms a grove that perfectly nests the base of another HDX tote.

Around the perimeter of the lid are several holes that match-up with the tote. Here, you’re able to add a padlock or strap to keep it securely shut. While this isn’t entirely necessary, it’s a great way to add an extra bit of security.

  • Relatively inexpensive and well-built.
  • Fits the Starlink dish and router snug, without any extra wiggle room.
  • Lid snaps on nicely and provides holes for padlocks.
  • Able to securely stack multiple totes on top of each lid.
  • Thicker, stronger plastic than the Ezy tote.
  • Does not fit cables or anything extra.
  • Not fully sealed for water, dust and moisture.

Final Thoughts

As you can see, there are a few great options that work nicely as storage containers for the Starlink equipment. Whether you’re a full time RVer or a weekend warrior, having a dedicated solution for protecting your Starlink dish, router and accessories is vital. After all, the equipment is fairly expensive and nearly impossible to replace if you were to accidently damage it.

Clearly, the Pelican 1610 Case is the best of the best when it comes to overall protection. It provides the best possible protection while encasing everything in a fully waterproof enclosure. The Pelican case is built so well, in fact, that you could probably drop it off the roof of your RV with the Starlink equipment inside, and it’ll be just fine. While we wouldn’t recommend intentionally testing the ruggedness of it, it’s obviously the ideal solution. However, the Pelican case, whether you buy it with or without the foam insert, is quite expensive.

If you don’t want to spend over $200 on a case, we recommend checking out the Ezy Storage Tote . It’s IP67 waterproof, meaning you can submerge the entire case up to 1 meter of water without worry of water ingress. By providing an airtight seal, your Starlink equipment will stay dry and dust free whether you keep the case inside your RV or outside in the elements. Sure, it may not be as bombproof as the Pelican, but it’s a great option, nonetheless.

Moving on, we also examined the HDX 17 Gal. Storage Tote . It’s even less expensive than the Ezy tote and is equally well-made. However, it doesn’t provide a water/air tight seal. While this may not be a deal breaker for most, it’s not going to keep out moisture like the Pelican or Ezy tote will. However, the thick plastic it’s comprised of is worth mentioning. It’s strong, rugged and has a stackable design that can nest multiple HDX totes on top of each other.

One word that readily comes to mind after using this product is ‘reliable’. The Starlink Travel Case stands true to its claims, ensuring solid protection and comfort during transportation.

My Personal Experience with the Product

What truly won me over was not just its useful, utilitarian features but also how stylishly designed it is. One could easily mistake it for top-of-the-line luggage. However, at $149.99 per week, one might feel priced out, considering lower-cost alternatives available in the market.

The Starlink Roam – Pros and Cons

The big question – would i recommend it.

Straight off the bat, Yes, I would. The reason is that the Starlink travel case sticks true to its promise of providing an effective storage solution. It’s durable and stylish and provides ample protection for your satellite dish.

And that’s exactly what matters! But if the organization is a high priority for you, then this might not be an absolute fit & you may want to look at other available options, too.

Exploring Other Choices for Your Satellite

In the search for a perfect travel case to safeguard your satellite, it’s worth considering some alternatives, too.

Exploring Other Choices for Your Satellite

It might strike you as surprising, but there are some fantastic options out there that can give the Starlink Travel Case a real run for its money. I’ve looked at several, and I’m going to share my thoughts on a few with you right now.

1. Radius Outfitters Starlink Storage Case

My first encounter with an alternative to the Starlink Travel Case was when I stumbled upon the offering from Radius Outfitters – The Starlink Storage Case. Not only does this vibrant orange case grab your attention instantly, but it also casts quite an impression upon closer examination.

The Radius Outfitters Starlink Storage Case is a tailor-made solution for storing and transporting your second-generation Starlink dish. Able to fit a 20″x12″ dish, this storage case comes conveniently preassembled. Made from tough 1680D Cordura, this heavy-duty construction includes a rigid top and bottom that ensures your tech is well-protected amidst all conditions.

The Starlink Storage Case boasts practical design features like a removable lid that is secured with an easy-to-access Magnetic Fidlock catch. Adding further to its user-friendliness, the genuine leather handles offer comfortable grips for sustained carry durations. The expandable pockets on each side are perfect for storing smaller items as needed.

This case goes beyond standard protection with innovative utilitarian details like Velcro strips on the bottom, which prevent it from sliding around in your vehicle. Its watertight seal safeguards against any liquid damage no matter where you take it, ensuring nothing hampers your connection experience when using the Starlink network!

So store away securely with Radius Outfitters, leading-edge safeguarding solutions at their finest.

2. Pelican 1610 Case

Next in line is another serious contender in terms of resilience – The Pelican 1610 case. After hearing rave reviews about this particular option being water and crush-resistant, I knew I had something special coming up on experiencing it myself.

The Pelican™ 1610 Case is the perfect protector for your valuables. With inside dimensions measuring 21.78″ x 16.69″ x 10.62″, this case provides ample space to store your items securely. Constructed from strong polyurethane, it adds an extra layer of assurance and safety for the user.

One of the main features that set this case apart from its competition is its resilient build quality that ensures water resistance, dust prevention, and crush resistance. It’s watertight, dustproof, and even crushproof! This essentially means the items stored within are fabulously safe come rain, shine, or even an unintended drop!

The easy-to-open double-throw latches allow simple yet secure accessibility to your possessions inside while maintaining their security when closed. The provided automatic pressure equalization valve is ingenious as it balances interior pressure yet keeps out moisture, which can be essential during flight travels or changes in altitude.

This container doesn’t compromise on comfort, either! It comes with comfortable fold-down handles, making transport a breeze! Built with powerful wheels accompanied by stainless steel bearings, carrying heavy items would feel smooth and effortless!

All these features emphasize why Pelican™ 1610 Case stands out as a top-of-the-line storage option for those who prioritize protection and ease of access to their belongings.

3. Budget-Friendly yet Trustworthy – An Easy DIY Option

For those looking for practicality but are unwilling to make big-ticket purchases, there’s no need to despair. Believe it or not, an uncomplicated and cost-effective DIY option is at your disposal too! All you really need is some velcro straps along with packaging foam sheets, usually available around the home or easily sourced from local stores.

The method is pretty straightforward – secure the satellite unit using the velcro straps, followed by adequately padding out any voids inside using sheets of packaging foam for cushioning. Voila! You got yourself a simple yet effective carrying case that barely costs anything.

Though it lacks the sturdy exterior shell-like that comes with Starlink Travel Case and other alternatives we examined, this inexpensive solution still provides adequate protection in most routine situations if handled carefully.

All said and done – it’s about striking a balance between quality assurance and budget-friendliness when deciding on the best travel case for your needs!

In the post, the user wrote, “This thing is designed to save as much space as possible – the whole kit packs in quite firmly into the solid foam. It’s probably a little too big for a carry on, and I’m not sure it’s rugged enough to trust for checked baggage, but it’s perfect for conveniently packing the kit in the car or RV as I intend to.”

SpaceX reached full Earth coverage with a Starlink satellite launch last month, at the time having 2,805 satellites in its orbital constellation.

Bantha Overland

Our DIY Starlink Travel Case

Learn about how we built a rugged travel case for our Gen 2 Starlink, including the Starlink receiver, router, and tripod with our DIY Starlink Tripod Adapter.

Adam Zolyak

Adam Zolyak

We often travel on rough terrain during our overland adventures. Even with a modified suspension and airing down, driving off-road on washboard, rutted, and rocky dirt roads still can be bumpy at times. Over the years, we've had our gear tossed around quite a bit and have learned that gear that’s not properly secured and protected will likely get damaged over time. Everything from rubbing abrasions to broken latches has taken its toll on gear that’s not well stowed during travel. And so when we recently got Gen 2 Starlink , we started thinking about how to best store the dish, router, stand, and cables.

The Problem

The Starlink dish seems especially susceptible to damage given its mounting pole sticks out of the dish at about a 35-degree angle and isn’t detachable. It feels like it's just waiting to get broken. Starlink is of course made for outdoor use in the  sun, rain, etc. But that's different from being bounced around in a vehicle and smashed between other gear.

Experimenting

We tried a few different storage options. The first option was to use the Starlink shipping box. The box holds all of the components pretty well but doesn’t have enough separation between the dish and the stand. It seems like there could be abrasion to the dish from the mental stand over time. The box is made for one-time shipping after all not long-term storage while driving over rough terrain. We also assumed the box would become damaged over time through wear and tear and isn’t water-resistant or waterproof.

Next, we tried storing the Starlink components in a Cotopaxi Allpa travel backpack that we already owned. It was able to accommodate the dish, router, and cables. However, the stand was a bit too big. That wasn’t necessarily a deal-breaker since we create our own DIY Starlink Tripod Stand . The backpack had the advantage of being fairly compact, having a harness and handles for transportation, and being water-resistant. However, the backpack wouldn't fully zip closed due to the dish’s mounting pole. Not necessarily a deal-breaker but not ideal. And while the pack is fairly rugged we were still concerned about damage due to repeated movement from rough roads and other gear potentially smashing into it.

Next, we tried a Pelican case with a foam insert. We found an example of someone trying this option and decided to give it a try too. Pelican cases are renowned for their toughness. And the Pelican 1610 case with foam seemed to be just the right fit for the Starlink equipment. It has a solid exterior, four secure latches, a waterproof gasket, a pressure-equalizing valve, multiple carrying handles, wheels, and a handle for long-distance movement.

best travel case for starlink

Upon receiving the case from our supplier, we set to work removing foam to custom-fit the case to the components. After some experimentation, we found a configuration to store the dish with the mounting column facing down. This provides the quickest loading and unloading in our opinion. It also enables easy storage of the cables and our custom DIY Starlink Tripod Stand + Adapter underneath. There’s also extra space on the side to store the router. And after moving some things around we found a perfect spot for the Pelican case in the backseat of our truck.

best travel case for starlink

So far it feels like a rugged yet easy-to-use storage solution. We’re looking forward to testing the case and storage location over time. We hope to share a follow-up post soon based on our experience and initial impressions. Until then we highly recommend the Pelican 1610 case. You could also store the provided dish stand in the case if desired with a bit of foam reconfiguration. We also learned that custom foam inserts are available from https://pelicanfoam.com . We might consider this option in the future depending on how well the pick and pull foam holds up over time.

Radius Outfitters Starlink Storage Case Review

The number of storage case options for Starlink has exploded in the last year, thanks to the popularity of Starlink Roam for RV’s, vans, and even commercial contractors working in remote areas. Starlink equipment is expensive, so it’s important to protect your investment.

best travel case for starlink

In this article, I’m going to add another case to my list of reviews. Let me introduce you to the Radius Outfitters Starlink Storage Case . Radius Outfitters is a US-based company that makes all sorts of storage and organization gear, mainly targeting vans and other kinds of adventure vehicles. They pride themselves on being an engineer-led team, focusing on quality design and functionality. Their Starlink Storage Case is pre-assembled with a custom foam insert, designed for a Gen 2 Starlink Standard kit.

Table of Contents

best travel case for starlink

I’ve reviewed several Starlink storage cases over the years, so I have a pretty good idea of what works and what doesn’t. I use a Starlink Roam dish when camping in my travel trailer. The dish stays protected while on the road as it rides in the case, stacked with a bunch of gear in the back. After I return, the storage case keeps my dish safe and organized on a shelf in the garage, until my next adventure.

The Starlink Storage Case from Radius Outfitters, which costs $369 , is designed for exactly that purpose. They took their popular Gear Box 5500 case and added a custom Starlink foam insert, which allows it to carry everything in a Starlink kit safely and securely.

best travel case for starlink

The case is constructed with a variety of high quality materials. The main shell is made of Cordura, which is a common material for luggage bags. You’ll also find nylon, and even leather, throughout the case. Inside, a foam insert has cutouts that fit the various Starlink kit components. The foam insert is removable, and Radius Outfitters even includes extra dividers. That means you can use this case for other tasks when you aren’t using it for Starlink.

Here are some additional features and specs:

  • Exterior dimensions: 25.25″ width x 16.75″ length x 12.25″ height
  • Removable lid (attached with Velcro)
  • Magnetic latch system
  • 2 high quality leather handles
  • Expandable pockets for additional storage
  • Velcro strips on the bottom that keep it from sliding around

Comparison to the Starlink Travel Case

best travel case for starlink

The other product that this Radius Outfitters case reminds me of is Starlink’s own Travel Case . They are similar in a lot of ways, but the two cases are in different leagues as far as quality and features. At $250, the Starlink Travel Case is more of a budget option. The more expensive Radius Outfitters case has more features, better materials, and is easier to stack with other gear.

The outer shell of the Starlink Travel case has more of a plastic feel. The texture is nice, but it is prone to scuffs and scratches. The Radius Outfitters Starlink Storage Case has a similar rigidity, but the material on the shell is softer and more fabric-like than plastic feeling. The Starlink Travel Case has a weird wedge shape, and non-removable backpack straps. I found the Radius Outfitters case much easier to stack and store with other gear.

best travel case for starlink

One advantage of the Starlink Travel Case is the zipper system that fully encloses your Starlink gear. In contrast, the Radius Outfitters case has a removable lid that is just held on by a large strip of velcro. The sides aren’t really secured, so I have to question the water and dust resistance of the case. That’s not to say the lid is going to pop open in transit or anything, just that I would rather have the ability to fully enclose the contents of the case.

best travel case for starlink

Besides the higher quality materials and better shape, the advantage of the Radius Outfitters Starlink Storage Case is the additional functionality that the included inserts provide. When you aren’t using it to transport your Starlink kit, simply take out the foam insert, and use the included dividers to create your own unique storage case. The Starlink Travel Case doesn’t allow you to remove the foam insert, so its functionality is limited beyond carrying around a Starlink kit.

What I Liked

I had a chance to use the Radius Outfitters Starlink case during a four day camping trip, in addition to the time I spent with it at home, writing this review. Here are the things that it did well:

High quality materials and construction – I know I keep repeating this, but this case is simply high quality, and constructed very well. Radius Outfitters describes themselves as “engineer-led” and you can certainly tell. Everything, from the magnetic latch, to the leather handles, just feels like it will last forever.

best travel case for starlink

Stackable with other gear – The case is rigid enough to have some other gear stacked on top. I have an E150 van, and the space behind the 3rd row bench is limited. I typically stack my gear in the back, and I had no issues fitting this case in with everything else. I also appreciated the Velcro strips on the bottom, which kept the case from sliding around on the carpet.

Not just a Starlink case – This isn’t just a Starlink storage case. Since the Starlink shaped foam is removable, and they include internal dividers, you can use this case for just about anything you want. If you’re a seasonal camper like me, your dedicated Starlink case might sit on a shelf for months. But with this Radius Outfitters case, you can use it for more than Starlink.

What I Didn’t Like

Every product has its weaknesses and tradeoffs. None of the following are deal breakers, but I feel like it’s important to know what I didn’t like, so you get a complete picture of this Radius Outfitters case.

Lid doesn’t feel very secure – The magnetic latch design is cool, and I appreciate that you can remove the lid. But the tradeoff is that it doesn’t feel very secure. If you grab the side of the lid and pull up, you can literally reach into the case, underneath the lid. Every other Starlink case I’ve reviewed has a more secure lid. Whether it’s a zipper system, or side latches, the lid has never been a concern like it is with this case.

best travel case for starlink

Lid can pop off at times – Another issue with the lid is that the Velcro that holds it on can come loose when you flop it open. The first time I got it out of the box and opened the case, I just flipped the lid back, and it actually fell off. The weight of the lid, unsupported, is enough to cause the Velcro on the back to come off. You have to gently open the lid and support it with your hand as you lay it all the way back.

Final Thoughts

Overall, despite the issues with the lid design, the Starlink Storage Case by Radius Outfitters is by far my favorite soft shell Starlink storage solution. I prefer it over Starlink’s Travel Case. The shape is better, the materials are higher quality, and you can use it for much more than storing a Starlink dish. This is the case I would recommend if you are looking for something with a soft shell, that doesn’t need to be out in the elements.

At $369, I find it to be competitive with other cases that are designed specifically for Starlink. Many of the cheaper options skimp on materials and functionality. The more expensive cases are tougher, and meant to withstand the outside elements. This Radius Outfitters case sits somewhere in the middle, designed to organize your Starlink kit, and keep it protected while stored inside a vehicle.

Works great safe environment for mini traveling

This is a fabulous case! Nicely padded, perfect fit for all components. Very well designed zipper/velcro flap for dish as well as handle and shoulder strap. Exactly what I was looking for and is very high quality.

We'll find out how it holds up on a few flights.

Best bag on the market at a great price point.

This case is very well built. Exceeding my expectations. My only issue is the large size, but it does hold all of my system.

Well constructed and holds all the necessary components of the Starlink system as well as the pipe adapter…..

Purchased the case to store and protect my Starlink, Router etc. The case is perfect, not bulky as space is limited in my Off-grid trailer worth the investment.

A bit slow on the shipping but the foam insert fits the Starlink perfect.👍

I like that the case is half the size of the original box my starlink came in. So far I have not had any issues with the case, I purchased.

Works great

SATGEAR S8 - Gen 3 Starlink Foam Insert for Milwaukee Packout for 700W Battery

Nice fit for all pieces!

It works exactly as described. It’s a very space and cost efficient way to store a transport the Gen 3 dish from campsite to campsite.

Got this for our new Gen 3. It is sturdy, very protective, yet lightweight. It fits the Gen 3 dish, the router and a node. Exactly what I wanted!!

The tub is perfect. It provides protection and organization at a reasonable price.

Love the fact that my starlink is protected nicely when we travel. It’s a bit bulky but we are happy with it.

As advertised, will work great in our RV.

The foam insert is of excellent quality and fits perfectly in the case. It’s a bit pricey, but I think well worth it.

Great case. Fits in the 16 gallon tote perfect and all components fit perfectly.

We travel across to coast to a vacation home for 3 weeks in the summer. The rental property we go to doesn't have internet, so we bring our Starlink. We originally just put it in the box and checked it on the plane. We needed something a little better, so we went with this insert for the husky bins. It works great and packs in all the Starlink gear tightly. We use other Huskey bins for our sports gear, kitchen stuff, etc, for hauling across the country, and they all stack well. I highly recommend this for your Starlink.

Very nice, fits snug and would purchase again if needed.

The backpack is a great way to take Starlink on the go! Everything fits nicely and it appears to be well made. Time will tell how durable it is. Thank you for a great option other than the big bulky cases that take up more room than we often have!

This case is perfect for our mobile link. Well built and easy to use

Nice purple color. Holds all the things as desired.

Good case, starlink is protected.

Starlink RV Case Guide: Official vs Aftermarket [2023]

Storing Starlink hardware safely when traveling is critical.

One of the requirements to look out for when choosing the case is the size of the Dish.

While Starlink offers a travel case of its own through its shop, there are several better aftermarket alternatives available.

This is quite natural as Starlink isn't really a "travel case" manufacturer and its primary area of focus is internet services.

Starlink's official travel case isn't compatible with the round Starlink dish and can only fit the rectangular Starlink dish while aftermarket cases are customizable and can fit round dishes as well. Aftermarket cases are waterproof and also offer the option of mounting the dish directly on the case.

Here's a detailed account of the best carry cases for your Starlink RV hardware.

Starlink Official Travel Case: Good or Bad?

Starlink Travel case

The Official Starlink Travel Case is available in the Starlink shop for a moderate price of $250 (excluding shipping and taxes).

Although Starlink recommends the case for RV customers , it is safe to say that you can use it with the Residential kit as well.

Featuring a tough plastic exterior shell, the design of the Starlink Case is compact and quite the head-turner.

The Case can take some beating without damaging its contents.

Talking about contents, the Starlink Travel Case features a foam-padded interior capable of withstanding external shocks and stimuli without affecting the contents.

It also features zip-lined compartments to store the accessories aside from the Starlink Dish.

With the supplied shoulder straps with decent pads, you can carry the Case on your back without much ado.

On the other hand, the Case does come with a couple of hand straps if you prefer to carry it by hand.

Before storing the Starlink Dish, enable Stow mode from the Starlink app. Doing so will prepare the Dish to be stored away.

Starlink slide to stow

Open the app and access Settings>Stow Mode>Toggle ON.

Even if the form factor of the Case is much more compact than most other aftermarket options, it may be a little too big as a carry-on for air travel.

Now, coming to the elephant in the room, the compatibility factor.

The deal-breaker of the Starlink travel Case is that it is compatible only with the Rectangular Dish.

And so, users with the Round Dish may have to look at other options, say the aftermarket ones. You also can get some for a price much cheaper than the official case with better flexibility and features.

Here's a more in-depth analysis of aftermarket cases for Starlink dishes.

Why Choose Aftermarket Cases for Starlink?

Why Choose Aftermarket Cases?

Here's a glimpse of how aftermarket cases and the official case differ in regard to each other:

As evident from the table, aftermarket cases offer several advantages.

These aftermarket cases are also perfect for Starlink dish dimensions and there's no need to do any further customization.

Apart from the compatibility factor, the Starlink travel case also falls behind the aftermarket cases in quite a few aspects.

Waterproofing is a crucial aspect of cases. And the Starlink travel case lacks any sort of waterproofing.

On the other hand, you can find cases, even DIY ones, with waterproofing in the aftermarket.

You also get flexibility with compartments, or in some cases, make your own custom compartments with aftermarket cases.

Another subtle yet helpful feature to have on your case is the option to mount the Dish directly on the Case. With aftermarket cases, you get that too.

Prices can vary from product to product.

If you're on a budget, get a cheap store-bought case and customize it to your liking. It works just as fine as the official one.

Custom Starlink cases that come at a much steeper premium are also available on the market.

Ultimately, it is better to explore the aftermarket options before settling on the official case.

Let's now take a look at some of the best Starlink Cases you can get right now:

Pelican 1610 Case : Best Budget Option

Pelican 1610 Case

The Pelican case may be the most sought-after case for Starlink, partly for its aggressive pricing and partly for its features.

Unlike the other two alternatives mentioned here, the Pelican 1610 doesn't come with a pre-made interior. That, you'll have to DIY.

Featuring a Polypropylene body, the Pelican 1610 can withstand harsh terrains and shocks without damaging precious goods.

The Case is watertight, so you needn't worry about moisture sweeping into your Starlink hardware.

It also features wear and tear-resistant polyurethane wheels for easy travel.

As mentioned earlier, the Pelican 1610 case does not come pre-fitted with foam inserts for the Starlink Dish.

DIYing the interior could mean a lot of work. But the upside is that you now get to make room for the Round Dish, which is seldom seen with Starlink cases.

Flaunting a price tag of about $309, the Pelican 1610 is indeed a worthy case for Starlink Hardware. You can shave $50 off the price tag if you opt for the no-foam option .

Caseman 20911 Rugged Travel Case : Best Overall

 Caseman 20911 Rugged Travel Case

Next up on the list - the Caseman 20911 is a purpose-built rugged case of Starlink hardware.

It features a tough plastic shell capable of withstanding hard knocks and shocks, all the while keeping the contents safe inside.

The interior is adorned with precision-cut foam that secures the Starlink hardware perfectly. You won't have to DIY the interior yourself.

And since the entire case is watertight, you can take your Starlink hardware with you anywhere, even on extreme adventures.

Talking about flexibility, the 20911 also features an inbuilt mounting point on which you can mount the Dish, much like with the supplied stand.

The case also comes with extra room for a portable power supply. Now you needn't worry about carrying a battery along with you every time you set out on an adventure.

And following suit to its long list of desirable features, the Caseman 20911 does carry a hefty price tag. At a price of about $489, it is far from cheap!

Starlink "On the Go" Case by SavageUTV -Feature Packed Case

Starlink "On the Go" Case by SavageUTV

The 'On the Go' case from SavageUTV can be assumed as the ultimate option when it comes to Starlink cases.

And it carries a price tag worthy of its praise. Running a cost of about $549, the 'On the Go' Case falls in the upper echelon of Starlink aftermarket cases.

Featuring a tough plastic outer shell, the 'On the Go' case is designed to withstand the elements and rough terrains.

One of the defining features of the Case is its interior.

The interior is of foam padding, with each compartment separated by a divider layer, which helps in protecting the Dish from dust and other effluents.

A removable platform with straps for storing accessories also comes as standard with every case.

Unlike the Caseman 20911, the 'On the Go' case features dual mounting options.

You can mount the Starlink Dish directly atop the Case via the onboard mount or use the universal mount to secure the Dish on the RV railings or ladder.

Customization is a key element of SavageUTV cases, and for a nominal fee, you get to add a 110V power supply and an ethernet port to the 'On the Go'case as well.

If you're on a tighter budget, SavageUTV does offer a watered-down version of the 'On the Go' case - the Starlink Storage Case .

Final Thoughts

Picking a suitable case for storing Starlink RV equipment can be a taxing affair, especially when you weigh the pros and cons of the associated products.

The official Starlink Travel Case is a great choice, but its compatibility is limited to the Rectangular Dish.

And so, we are prompted to explore aftermarket options.

In this article, we discuss three brilliant products, each with its merits and debilities.

Included, too, is a brief comparison of aftermarket cases and the official Starlink case.
