Paris Honeymoons: How to Plan the Perfect Romantic Getaway

I remember the first time we went to Paris, we arrived at night and checked into our hotel we knew a honeymoon in Paris was a great idea. They had placed a bottle of champagne in our room and Macarons with a note for Monsieur and Mademoiselle Bagby. We opened our patio door with a view of the Eiffel Tower lit up and sparkling. It was a magical way to start our trip to Paris, a place you must visit at least once in your lifetime.

From our first trip in 2015 to our most recent trip in May 2022, every visit reminds us how perfect Paris is as a honeymoon destination .

Affectionately termed as the city of love and romance, Paris is a dream come true for honeymooners .

Honeymoon in Paris Quick Picks

  • When to Visit: Summertime, from June to August.
  • Where to Stay: Maison Breguet and Hotel Le Littre
  • What to Do: See the Eiffel Tower at night, visit the Louvre, dinner at a Michelin restaurant
  • Cost: Budget at least $3500 plus flights for non-summer honeymoons

When to Honeymoon in Paris

We recommend a Paris honeymoon for any time of the year, with only a slight hesitation for the winter because of the cold. Winter in Paris is the least crowded and least expensive season to visit, and you can soak in the holiday sights of the season. But it does get quite cold, so keep that in mind.

paris tour honeymoon package

Summertime in Paris is an absolute joy but can get quite hot. From June to August, witness the sun-kissed, warm days, and happily wander around. Plus, the summer season is packed with fun festivals and outdoor events. The city tends to get crowded as it is the high season, and not to mention, expensive.

So our top recommendation for a honeymoon in Paris is to go in the fall or spring. This will combine the pleasant weather with low rates and seclusion. Both fall and spring offer amazing seasonal changes to Paris and will add a great spark of color to your honeymoon.

Honeymoon in Paris: What to Pack

It’s best to plan outfits that are low maintenance and can be layered for your honeymoon in Paris. You will likely be outside a lot during your trip so make sure you bring layers. Maybe a light jacket you can have in the morning but take off during the heat of the day.

Keep a pair of shades, your best-fitting jeans, and a couple of scarves! And don’t forget comfortable walking shoes or sandals.

Don’t forget to leave some space in your luggage to allow for some shopping in Paris! The city of love is also known for its fashion and shopping, so you’ll want to have space to take home your purchases.

How to Get Around on Your Honeymoon in Paris

Traveling around Paris is really about public transportation. While car rentals are available, it’s definitely not recommended. Paris can often get congested and make it very difficult to experience a lot of the Paris metro center.

The best way to travel around Paris during your honeymoon is to use the Metro system. The extensive network of subway trains covers the majority of Paris making it an easy way to get from place to place.

Other public transport options available include buses and trams. Buses are great if your destination isn’t directly serviced by the metro. Trams are good options for reaching certain neighborhoods and areas of Paris.

A popular way to experience Paris travel is scooter and bike sharing. Both options are incredibly convenient and cost-effective, and help you see more of the city. You can find bike-sharing stations and rentable scooters all over the city, so you’ll almost always be just around the corner from your next ride.

Honeymoon in Paris: Where to Stay

When looking for a place to stay location is important, but with Paris’s metro, getting around is pretty easy. Your budget is probably the biggest determining factor.

Even on a low budget, you should be able to find adequate accommodations, but if you can, a honeymoon is a perfect time to splurge on one of the luxury hotels in Paris.

Maison Breguet

During our latest trip to Pairs, we loved our stay at Maison Breguet. The hotel is located on the Right Bank, in the east of Paris near the Marais district. The metro is close by, which makes it very convenient to get around.

They have a bed and breakfast rate which we enjoyed having each morning. The hotel really felt like home with wonderful staff welcoming us each night after running around during the day. We also enjoyed a refreshing splash in the pool to cool off on a hot summer day during our stay.

Hotel Le Littre

During our first trip to Paris , we stayed at Hotel Le Littre, Located between Montparnasse & Saint Germain des Prés.

Paris hotel with tower view

The boutique 4-star family-owned hotel starts around 200€ a night and every stay includes an exceptional breakfast each day as well as several other amenities including a top-of-the-line sauna.

We absolutely loved staying at Hotel Le Littre and found the staff to be top-notch. For an added bonus, the top two floors have a few suites available with a private balcony and a view of the Eiffel Tower.

These rooms are much more expensive but are really worth the splurge if they are within your honeymoon budget.

Honeymoon in Paris: Romantic Things to Do

The contemporary fashion and charming boutiques make for easy shopping, the art is so varied there is something for everyone and the food is so good the flavors and textures leave a lasting impression. And the city has layers of history to start to unravel and you enjoy your time together on a romantic trip.

Eiffel Tower at night

Going to the Eiffel Tower at night is my #1 vote for romantic things to do during a honeymoon in Paris.

Standing underneath the tower, it is amazing to see the steel beams that seem woven together you feel the sense of the grandeur of the structure.  As you go to the top, you can’t help but be a little nervous as the packed elevator with glass windows goes higher and higher.  It is a perfect experience to share with someone you love.

paris tour honeymoon package

By going at night time, you also get to enjoy the tower as it lights up every hour and you avoid the long lines and heat of the day.  We went on a September night around 8 and only waited around 20 minutes.  Make sure you explore the entire tower, stopping at all 3 stories on the way up or down, taking time to enjoy your date.

You can also just go for a stroll at night to admire the sites lit up in the night. We always like to walk along the Seine and see the landmarks in the evening.

Enjoy a Picnic

The beautiful parks of Paris lend themselves perfectly to a picnic. You can easily grab a baguette, some meats and cheeses, a bottle of wine and chocolates, and head to a nearby park for a relaxing meal.

For an even more unique experience, there are several services that make the date even easier to plan by  setting up a romantic picnic for you.

Visit The Louvre

The Louvre is best known for the size of its art collection and as the largest museum in the world and its unique venue, a former palace.

We went to the Louvre on a weekday in the evening and found that there were very small crowds and enjoyed wandering the halls. I highly recommend going in the evening and traveling off-season.   Don’t focus on seeing everything during a single visit, but focus on what you are most interested in seeing.

paris tour honeymoon package

I was also truly impressed by the building itself and was sometimes distracted by the ceilings and architecture instead of the art itself. If you plan on going to a few other museums, get the Paris Museum Pass to save some money.

Splurge on a Michelin Restaurant

When in France, there are so many more Michelin restaurants to choose from compared to any city in the US. Take advantage of it to splurge on a meal for you and your sweetheart. As a former chef, I always try to dine at least once at a Michelin restaurant when I go to a city that has one.

paris tour honeymoon package

On our latest visit, we had lunch at Contraste and it was one of the best meals we have ever had.

When I try to pick out a Michelin-rated restaurant, I look for good locations for a lunch date to find a more affordable option. I have always been able to find a 3-course lunch menu at less than $50 per person.

paris tour honeymoon package

Worried about fitting in at a fancy restaurant? If this is your first time, tell the person taking your reservation that this is your first time at a Michelin-rated restaurant and ask any question you may have such as the dress code.

When you get there, do not worry so much about what other people are doing and what is the right thing to do. You may feel like all eyes are on you because there are usually more wait staff than at more casual restaurants.

Seine Sunset River Cruise

Taking a river cruise on the Seine is a great way to see the city and spend time together. We took the cruise that departs from Pont Neuf, but I made that decision based on the departure location and I would recommend the same to you.

paris tour honeymoon package

There are a few different companies that run cruises constantly, just make sure you make the chance to kiss under Pont Marie, the lover’s bridge.

Take a Cooking Class Together

Learn to cook and bake the things Paris is known for.  Some of the most popular cooking classes are for learning to cook macarons, baguettes, and crescents.

Go Dancing

Take couples dancing classes or enjoy dancing on the banks of the Seine. In the evenings at Port Saint-Bernard from June until the end of August, people gather and dance at Jardin Tino Rossi.

Have a Spa Day

Take some time to relax for a spa date. After all the walking around you will be doing to see all the sites, take some time to enjoy a couples massage or other treatments together.

Visit Notre-Dame

Pay a visit to the medieval Catholic cathedral and be awestruck by its glorious beauty. Built centuries ago, the renowned church is one of the best examples of French Gothic structures in the world. It is located at the eastern end of the Île de la Cité, one of two remaining natural islands in the Seine within Paris.

paris tour honeymoon package

While you can not currently visit the interior as it is being restored, you can still see the exterior and see the interior being worked on from the outside. You can learn more about the restoration progress along the side of the gates outside the cathedral.

Tour Sainte-Chapelle

The Sainte-Chapelle is a royal chapel housed inside the medieval Palais de la Cité. Boasting the Gothic splendor of Rayonnant style, the chapel was once a revered holy site now known for its phenomenal aesthetics and architecture.

paris tour honeymoon package

Richly embellished, the highlight of the Sainte-Chapelle is the hundreds of stained-glass windows that depict tales from the Old and New Testaments. Once you have explored the interiors, check out the exteriors and click some pictures. To avoid waiting in long queues, purchase a skip-the-line ticket.

Go by the Conciergerie

Sprawling with its fortresses and arches, the building is right across the River Seine. It was formerly a prison where many notable figures including Marie Antoinette spent their last months before being executed.

paris view from bridge

Today, the Conciergerie is a must-visit landmark in Paris. It does have a bloody history with dingy jail cells but otherwise, its enchanting beauty will deceive you! It is ironic how it contains both terror and beauty within itself.

Check Out Montmartre

paris tour honeymoon package

With an overlook of the breathtaking cityscape, you can take your significant other on a journey through the narrow streets of Paris walking through the neighborhoods where Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, and many other renowned artists used to have their studios.

Go On A Food Tour

paris tour honeymoon package

Paris is full of iconic foods. One way to sample them all in one afternoon is with a food tour. We took the tour with Secret Food Tours and were able to try macarons, eclairs, crepes, baguettes, French wine, and a selection of cheeses and meats.

Grab a Sweet Treat

Macroons in Paris

Paris is known for its pastries and sweet treats. It wouldn’t be a honeymoon in Paris without some macarons. Find some gourmet macarons at Laduree . No one does them better.

You’ll also need to taste the iconic french crepes. Don’t worry, they are everywhere. We enjoyed crepes from a street vendor late one night.  They were the cheapest ones we had and we loved them. We also had crepes at La Crêperie de Josselin and Breizh Café .

Day Trips From Paris

After spending a few days in Paris you can venture out a bit to see some of the surrounding cities.

Just ten miles from the center of Paris and a 30-minute train ride, Versailles is an easy trip to add to your trip.

The Palace served as a palace for the French monarchy up till the French Revolution. At first, the land had little more than a hunting lodge used by the kind, but later a palace was built surrounded by beautiful gardens, sculptures, and fountains.

versailles

Today, the Palace and grounds are open as a museum.  You can tour the palace and walk the manicured gardens and even enjoy a boat ride or horseback ride.

I recommend purchasing tickets before going or buying the Paris Pass, which will get you into many of Paris’s museums and attractions, and arrive early.

You can also enjoy the sights while cutting through the Grand Canal on a paddle boat First, tour the property together.  Then make your way to the Grand Canal where you can rent paddle boats to complete your date. Before heading back to Paris, enjoy a crepe at Ble Noir.

Disneyland Paris

paris tour honeymoon package

So after you have seen the Eiffel Tower and spent some time in the Louvre, consider making your way to Disneyland Paris for a fun day together.

Fontainebleau

Famous for its opulent structures and the Fontainebleau Palace built by French royalty, Fontainebleau is a small town located southeast of Paris. One of the best ways to get to the classy town is by taking a train from the Gare de Lyon.

paris tour honeymoon package

The journey is only 40 minutes long and brimming with sublime vistas! Once you have reached Fontainebleau, the fresh breeze, immaculate gardens, beautiful lakes, and sculptures will greet you.

There are amazing rock-climbing opportunities, and you two can take a stroll in a picturesque setup bordered by Fontainebleau forest. Hardly ever crowded in the fall, but you still need at least a day to explore it completely.

Hop onto a train in Paris and make a beeline for Lille, the capital of the Hauts-de-France region in northern France. The city has a historical district featuring whimsical brick townhouses, olde-worlde cobbled streets, and the Grand Palace dating back to the 17th century. If you two would like even a bigger dose of history, visit Palais des BeauxArts, a huge museum featuring works by Monet, Raphael, van Gogh, Donatello, and many more!

paris tour honeymoon package

Have coffee and meals in one of the many cutesy roadside restaurants and catch up. Lille is a wonderful spot for shopaholics so don’t forget to splurge and gift each other some memorabilia.

The hub of Champagne and wineries, Reims lies in the Grand Est region of northeastern France. It houses the famous cathedral where royal coronations took place for almost 10,000 years.

reims france

Check out the treasury, villas, fine arts museums, and Champagne houses and palaces. If you and your spouse love cars, you must check out the Musée Automobile Reims Champagne which has up to 230 unique cars on display. To visit Reims from Paris, catch a train and be there in 40 minutes!

Honeymoon in Paris: Cost

When we first went to Paris, we thought it was expensive. Then we went to Paris in May of 2022, and it has become even more expensive since our last visit.

While you can go to Paris on a budget, if you want to have romantic accommodations, see the sights, and eat at mid-priced restaurants during your stay, we recommend $3500 + flights for a 5-day trip, more if you are going in the summer.

Paris definitely tops our list of honeymoon destinations. It offers you everything you might be looking for – amazing accommodations, culture, history, delicious food, and dozens of sights to see. While a honeymoon in Paris can be expensive, it’s well worth the cost. You definitely won’t be disappointed with a luxurious honeymoon in Paris.

It’s essential to create a budget tailored to your specific plans and priorities.

Best Time to Visit Paris

The best time to visit Paris for your honeymoon largely depends on your preferences and what kind of experience you want. Paris is a year-round destination, and each season has its unique charm:

  • Spring is a popular time to visit Paris. The city awakens from winter, and gardens like the Tuileries and Luxembourg start to bloom.
  • Mild temperatures and blooming flowers make for romantic strolls along the Seine River.
  • It’s an ideal time for outdoor activities and picnics.
  • Summer is a high tourist season in Paris, so expect larger crowds and higher prices.
  • Warm weather and longer daylight hours mean you can explore the city late into the evening.
  • You can enjoy open-air concerts, outdoor dining, and festivals.
  • Fall offers pleasant weather and fewer tourists compared to summer.
  • The changing foliage in parks like Parc des Buttes-Chaumont adds a touch of romance to the city.
  • It’s an excellent time for cultural events and exhibitions.
  • Paris in winter can be enchanting, with festive decorations, Christmas markets, and fewer crowds.

Consider your preferences for weather, crowds, and seasonal activities when choosing the best time. Spring and fall are often considered ideal for a honeymoon due to milder weather and fewer tourists. However, if you enjoy the festive atmosphere of Christmas or the long daylight hours of summer, those seasons can also be wonderful for a honeymoon in Paris.

Paris is generally considered a safe destination for honeymooners and tourists alike. However, like any major city, it’s essential to take certain precautions to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip:

  • Stay Alert: While Paris is relatively safe, it’s essential to stay alert and aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded areas, tourist spots, and public transportation.

  • Use Reputable Transportation: Stick to official taxis, reputable ride-sharing services, or public transportation. Be cautious of unofficial or unlicensed transport services.
  • Stay in Safe Neighborhoods: Choose accommodations in safe neighborhoods. Paris has many charming and secure districts, such as Le Marais, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, and the Champs-Élysées area.
  • Avoid Street Scams: Be cautious of street scams, including petitions, “gold ring” scams, and individuals claiming to be deaf or mute asking for donations.
  • Emergency Contacts: Familiarize yourself with emergency contact information, including the local police (dial 17), medical services (dial 15), and the embassy or consulate of your home country.
  • Respect Local Customs: Learn about and respect local customs and etiquette. A little knowledge of French phrases can also go a long way in enhancing your experience.
  • Travel Insurance: Consider purchasing comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, trip cancellations, and lost or stolen belongings.

Overall, Paris is a beautiful and romantic destination for a honeymoon. By taking common-sense precautions and staying informed, you can have a safe and memorable experience in the City of Light.

Most Romantic Spots in Paris

Paris is often considered one of the most romantic cities in the world, making it a perfect destination for a honeymoon. Here are some of the most romantic locations and activities you can consider for your honeymoon in Paris:

  • Eiffel Tower: The iconic Eiffel Tower is a must-visit for any romantic trip to Paris. You can take an elevator ride to the top for breathtaking views of the city, or enjoy a romantic dinner at one of the tower’s restaurants.
  • Luxembourg Gardens: These beautifully landscaped gardens offer a serene and romantic escape from the bustling city. You can enjoy a leisurely stroll, rent a rowboat on the pond, or simply relax and have a picnic.
  • Montmartre: This charming neighborhood is known for its artistic history and its picturesque streets. Visit the Place du Tertre, where you can have your portrait drawn by a local artist, and don’t forget to see the stunning Sacré-Cœur Basilica at the top of the hill.
  • Seine River Cruise: Take a romantic cruise along the Seine River, where you can admire Paris’s stunning architecture, including famous landmarks like Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Louvre, and the Musée d’Orsay, all lit up at night.
  • Romantic Dining: Paris is famous for its world-class cuisine. Consider dining at intimate, Michelin-starred restaurants like Le Jules Verne in the Eiffel Tower, Le Meurice, or Le Cinq. Or, have a romantic picnic with gourmet treats from local markets like Marché des Enfants Rouges.
  • Love Lock Bridge: While the famous Pont des Arts love lock bridge was dismantled due to the weight of the locks, you can still find love lock locations around Paris, such as Pont de l’Archevêché and Pont Neuf. It’s a sweet tradition to symbolize your love.
  • Le Marais: This historic neighborhood is full of narrow, cobblestone streets, trendy boutiques, and cozy cafes. It’s a great place for a leisurely walk hand in hand and exploring the local culture.
  • Museums and Art: Explore the Louvre Museum, home to the iconic Mona Lisa, or the Musée de l’Orangerie to admire Monet’s Water Lilies. These museums offer a cultural and romantic experience.
  • Palace of Versailles: Take a day trip to the magnificent Palace of Versailles, a symbol of opulence and grandeur. Explore the stunning palace, its beautiful gardens, and the Hall of Mirrors.
  • Wine and Cheese Tasting: Savor the flavors of France with wine and cheese tasting at a local wine bar. It’s a delightful and intimate way to enjoy the city’s culinary offerings.

Remember that the most romantic experiences often come from exploring the city together and creating your own special moments. Paris is full of hidden gems waiting to be discovered by you and your partner on your honeymoon.

Best Things to do on a Honeymoon in Paris

From things to do, where to stay, and eat to when to visit, this Paris honeymoon guide will give you all the information you may need during your trip planning process.

1. Take in the Beauty of The Eiffel Tower

Being a quintessential setting in romance movies makes Paris the city of love.

First on this list of the best things to do on a honeymoon in Paris is a no-brainer. Whether you’re in Paris for a honeymoon or not, the Eiffel Tower is a must-visit — but it’s even extra romantic if you’re visiting it with your new husband or wife.

Frequently rated one of the most romantic landmarks on earth, this Parisian icon is a popular spot for all romantic occasions be it proposals, wedding photoshoots, and honeymoon stopovers.

For an extra sprinkle of romance, I suggest heading up to the observation deck for sprawling views of the city , or to time your visit around sunset to watch it drenched in the golden glow.

The tower is also beautiful at night when it sparkles on the hour for 5 minutes from nightfall till midnight, making it a magical and romantic moment you’ll love as newlyweds.

It’s free to visit if you intend to take in its beauty from down, but if you want to climb to the top for stunning views of the city, make sure that you purchase this Eiffel Tower skip-the-line entry ticket in advance to avoid wasting time in queues — it’s not fun waiting in a long queue on your honeymoon.

And while you can visit on your own, you can also opt for this Eiffel Tower guided tour to learn more about this landmark from a knowledgeable and friendly tour guide.

2. Take a Romantic Seine River Cruise

Taking a seine cruise is one of the best things to do on a honeymoon in Paris.

A cruise on the Seine River is a perfect activity for honeymoons in Paris. Hop aboard a Seine River Cruise for a fun and romantic way to see the sights of Paris from the water.

Great in all seasons, you can choose to sit in a spacious air-conditioned lounge or enjoy some lovely breeze on a panoramic terrace.

Since you’re on your honeymoon, I suggest opting for this intimate nighttime dinner cruise that comes with a gourmet 3-course meal, guaranteed window seating for the best views, and live jazz music to set the mood.

Be sure to keep your eyes peeled as you cruise past majestic Parisian monuments such as the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, Notre-Dame Cathedral, the statue of liberty at Île aux Cygnes (a human-made island in Paris), and more. There is nothing more romantic than this!

However, if you’re honeymooning on a budget, you can opt for this 1 hour Seine sunset cruise where you’ll still enjoy the views but no romantic setting or dinner.

You can also check out my recommended tours and activities in Paris in the widget below   all offered by my favorite tour provider GetYourGuide .

3. Plan a Romantic Picnic

Picnicking under the Eiffel tower is one of the most romantic things to do in Paris

Planning a spring or summer honeymoon? If you’re blessed with sunny and not-so-cold temperatures during your trip, consider having a picnic in Paris !

Fun fact: Did you know that it was the French people who invented the word pique-nique back in 1962? Over the years, picnics have become an important part of French culture, and Parisians are huge picnic pros.

There are plenty of lovely parks, gardens, and green spaces in the city where you can have a romantic Parisian-style picnic.

Bring along a mat, and pack some pastries, snacks, cheese, and wine for a memorable time.

Some of the most beautiful parks in Paris to picnic from include; Tuileries Garden, Jardin du Luxembourg, Parc Monceau, Champ de Mars (for views of the Eiffel Tower), Parc de la Villette, Bois de Vincennes, and more. You can even picnic on the banks of the Seine river or Canal Saint Martin.

If you’re not sure how to plan everything, I have a dedicated article that will show you how to plan the perfect picnic in Paris .

4. Proclaim Your Love in Different Languages at the Wall of Love

Having the wall of love is one of the reasons why Paris is the city of love

Located in the Square Jehan Rictus in Montmartre, the Wall of Love may sound like a cliché but is a cute place to pop by if you’re in the area!

Created by two artists Frédéric Baron and Claire Kito with the mission of constructing a lasting monument dedicated to eternal adoration, the Wall of Love features the words “I Love You” 311 times in 250 different languages and dialects!

While the wall is a genius idea, one interesting fact you may not have known is that the artists collected the phrase in different languages by knocking on the doors of embassies and asking their foreign neighbors.

You may not spot the wall in plain sight and you’ll have to step into the garden to see it. The best part is that it’s free making it one of the best free things to do in Paris on a honeymoon.

5. Catch a Sunset

Watching a sunset is one of the best things to do in Paris on a honeymoon.

There are a few things as romantic as catching a breathtaking sunset with your loved one.

Paris looks extra romantic drenched in the dusk light, and there are many spots where you can catch a nice sunset in the city.

To view it from the top, consider getting to the observation deck or rooftop of the Montparnasse Tower ( you’ll need this ticket to access the terrace), the Centre Georges Pompidou, the Eiffel Tower, or the Galeries Lafayette.

Stay till the sun disappears from the horizon and you’ll see the twinkling city lights come on!

For a sunset stroll, Montmartre, along the Seine River, Jardin des Tuileries, Trocadero, and Pont Neuf are picturesque in the evenings.

Evening picnics are also very popular in Paris, so you can consider that to catch a sunset with a drink in hand.

6. Have a Romantic Meal

Restaurant With A View Of The Eiffel Tower

There’s nothing like having a nice, romantic sit-down meal while you’re on honeymoon! Lucky for you, Paris is the perfect city to do so.

Besides quaint bakeries where you can get delicious French pastries and charming local bistros that serve up comfort French classics such as onion soup, escargots, and beef tartare, there are countless romantic restaurants in Paris where you can enjoy an intimate candlelit dinner after a long day out in the sun to indulge in French food and wine.

There are over 100 Michelin-starred restaurants in Paris and most of them are great for a memorable full-course or fine dining meal if you’re up to splurge a little, but there are also many that won’t burn a hole in your wallet.

Many of them offer lunch hour specials if you’re on a budget yet want to have something nice, but for an extra touch of romance, opt for a romantic candle-lit dinner date.

Make sure to place a reservation in advance if you don’t want to be disappointed as these high-end restaurants book up fast.

If your hearts are set on a particular restaurant, especially these Parisian restaurants with Eiffel Tower views , you may need to book as early as 3 months in advance to get a table.

However, if Michelin-starred restaurants and those with Eiffel Tower views are not in your budget, you can opt for one of these restaurants in Montmartre or these Paris rooftop restaurants that not only serve delicious food but also great views.

7. Go Wine tasting

Fun facts about French food

Next up on this list of things to do in Paris on honeymoon is to go wine tasting. France is one of the biggest wine-producing and consuming countries in the world, and Parisians take their wine seriously.

From wine-tasting tours to informal tastings ( dégustations) offered at most wine shops and wine bars, wine-tasting is a fun, delicious, and educational experience that will elevate your appreciation of wine as newlyweds.

Many wine bars ( bar à vins ) and wine shops ( caviste ) offer tastings at specific times but if you don’t want to plan or prefer something more elevated, you can book this French Wine Tasting Class with a sommelier located just a few minutes from the Louvre.

You’ll learn how wine is made and how to properly taste it, as well as the differences between wine produced in different regions of France such as Champagne, Bordeaux, and the Rhone under the guidance of a friendly and knowledgeable sommelier (wine steward).

8. Walk Across the Pont des Arts

Pont des arts is one of the Paris honeymoon places.

Affectionately known as the bridge of love, Pont des Arts is a popular attraction amongst couples.

Lovers used to be able to attach love locks (padlocks with their names engraved) to its railings before tossing the key into the river to express their eternal devotion to each other.

Unfortunately, this damaged the bridge and hundreds of thousands of locks were removed from it, and you can no longer do so now.

However, the bridge remains one of the most romantic spots in Paris, and it offers beautiful views of the Seine and its surroundings.

Besides being popular for strolls, it was also featured in many romantic French films over the years!

9. Explore The Charming Neigborhood of Montmartre

Paris is famous for its Monuments.

Montmartre is my favorite neighborhood in Paris and it’s at the top of my recommended Paris honeymoon places.

With a quaint bohemian village vibe, winding cobblestone streets, and charming sights such as Sacre-Coeur (which you can climb for stunning views), Place du Tertre, Musee de Montmartre, and Rue de l’Abreuvoir, there are a lot of places to visit in Montmartre .

This cute village was also home and usually frequented by famous artists like Van Gogh, Picasso, Renoir, and many others and the artistic charm can easily be seen at Place du Tertre.

Spend your afternoon at Place du Tertre, commonly known as Artists’ Square which is known for being a base for painters who offer portrait sessions. Get a couple’s portrait painted here as a meaningful and timeless memento of your honeymoon trip to Paris!

With the various things to see in Montmartre, you may need a full day or at least an afternoon to see the highlights, but if you want to get the most out of your short visit, I recommend joining this Montmartre guided tour .

With this tour, you’ll see both the major attractions and hidden gems while learning about the history of this quaint village.

10. Sign Up for a Romantic Exploration Game in Montmartre

Where To Stay In Paris: 8 Best Arrondissements To Stay In Paris

Take your visit to Montmartre a notch higher by booking this Romantic Montmartre Exploration Game .

This game will help you discover Montmartre in a fun way with your loved one while solving puzzles and following clues to explore hidden and known attractions of the area.

This is a fun way to learn about Montmartre, its love stories, and history while also having an amazing time with your new spouse.

11. Visit the Musée de la Vie Romantique

Musée de la Vie Romantique is one of the best free Paris museums.

There are many museums in Paris , but I have a soft spot for underrated ones that not many people head to and the charming Musée de la Vie Romantique is one of those.

Nestled at the foot of Montmartre hill in the 9th arrondissement, the Musée de la Vie Romantique translates to the Museum of Romantic Life and is a lovely literary museum housed in a pretty villa covered.

The museum displays paintings, artwork, portraits, furniture, and jewelry from the 18th and 19th centuries, focusing on French authors and artists such as George Sand, Ary Scheffer, and Ernest Renan.

Besides admiring the displays here, you can also check out the tranquil garden and lovely tea house where you can enjoy a cup of freshly-brewed tea, coffee, pastries, or cakes!

12. Have a Couple’s Photoshoot Around the City

Planning a Couple's Photoshoot is one of the things to do in Paris for couples

Paris is amongst the most photographed cities in the world, and it’s heaven-on-earth for couples’ photoshoots.

Filled with picturesque settings and romantic monuments, you won’t run out of places to take photos in Paris .

While you can of course take photos on your own with the help of a friend or tripod, I suggest booking this professional photoshoot service if you’d like to do it right!

This way, you’ll be able to capture your Paris memories in a unique way while having fun together.

Plus, the professional photographer will know the best spots and timings to get perfect shots (or you can make suggestions if you have specific places you want) that will last you a lifetime.

13. Plan a Day Trip to Versailles

What is Paris famous for? Versailles palace is one of them.

Want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city center on a day trip? One romantic day trip destination I highly recommend for couples is Versailles — a charming royal town located an easy 30-minute drive from Paris.

Home to one of the most majestic palaces in the world, beautiful gardens, and plenty of architectural landmarks, Versailles is lots of fun to explore.

You’ll be able to take in the beauty of the hall of mirrors and its countless chandeliers and explore the luxurious palace rooms and the well-maintained gardens.

If you’re an adventurous couple, you can bike around the palace complex (it’s possible to book a bike onsite), or go paddle boating on the Grand Canal. Tired of exploring, you can even have a relaxing picnic there.

While you’re here with your significant other, don’t miss out on a visit to the Temple of Love (Temple de l’Amour), a romantic garden folly nestled in the center of a lake in the palace grounds.

Adored deeply by Marie Antoinette (the last Queen of France before the French Revolution), the alluring Temple of Love consists of 12 Corinthian columns, a white marble dome, and a Cupid statue in its center.

It is believed that couples who kiss here will have everlasting love — a thing that all newlyweds wish for.

And if your honeymoon is in spring or summer (April- October), you’ll enjoy the magnificent fountain show in the gardens of Versailles which is bound to elevate your honeymoon experience.

You can plan your visit on your own but if you don’t want to stress with the planning, you can go on this organized Versailles palace day trip from Paris .

The tour includes a transfer from Paris to the palace and a guided tour of the palace itself and a visit to the gardens. From there, you can enjoy the palace complex at your own pace.

If you choose to visit independently, then check out this post on how to get from Paris to Versailles palace for a smooth trip, and make sure you purchase this Versailles palace entry ticket in advance.

14. Join a Cooking or Baking Class Together

Joining a cooking class is one of the best Paris honeymoon ideas.

Want to do something more than sightseeing? One of the best Paris honeymoon ideas is to have a fun hands-on experience with your significant other.

If you’re both foodies and enjoy the cuisine of France, how about learning to make them yourselves by signing up for either a cooking or baking class?

There are plenty of cooking studios in Paris that offer workshops run by trained local chefs that will teach you the secrets of French cuisine.

If you’re into baking, you’ll love learning how to bake macaroons from scratch with this workshop , (you’ll also get a copy of a recipe and take back home a pack of Macarons you made) or master the hidden techniques of French desserts such as Grand Marnier Souffle or molten chocolate cake with this pastry cooking class .

If you’re more inclined to food than pastries, you’ll have fun assembling a full 3-course French meal that you can recreate when you get home!

With this 5-hour cooking class , you’ll learn more about French cuisine and its secrets and then prepare a 3-course meal which you’ll enjoy at the end of your class.

15. Stay in a Romantic Hotel

Shangri-La Paris is one of the Best Hotels with Eiffel Tower View in Paris

Elevate your honeymoon getaway to Paris by booking a stay at a romantic hotel. As one of the most romantic cities in the world, Paris has a great selection of stays for honeymooners.

From charming boutiques to elegant mansions and cozy apartments, all you have to do is do a bit of research to identify a love nest that will make your holiday all the more memorable.

I suggest sitting down with your significant other to find out what sort of stay would be ideal for both of you and plan your accommodation accordingly!

Do you want to have bathtub soaks, stay in a neighborhood with plenty of cafes, or wake up to unobstructed views of the Eiffel Tower ?

My recommendations for hotels with great views of the Eiffel Tower that are also utterly romantic include Hotel Duquesne Eiffel , Hotel Regina Louvre , Hotel le Walt , Hotel San Regis , Shangri-La Paris , Pullman Paris Tour Eiffel , and more.

If you’d rather stay in a romantic apartment or Airbnb, then you can book a stay at Résidence Charles Floquet , this luxury penthouse , or check for more options on my post about the best Airbnb with an Eiffel Tower view .

16. Shop for Gifts for Each Other

Shopping is one of the things to add to your Paris honeymoon itinerary.

If your or your partner’s love language is gifts, be sure to add shopping to your Paris honeymoon itinerary!

Paris takes shopping seriously, and you’ll be able to find everything and anything in the city’s picturesque shopping streets, lovely boutiques, luxury stores, and sophisticated malls.

Make a game out of this and shop for gifts for each other during your trip! This way you can give your new husband or wife a small surprise, and something memorable to bring home.

If you’re not sure where to start, pop by the iconic Champs-Élysées or the famous Parisian department stores such as Galeries Lafayette Haussmann, Le Bon Maché, Le BHV Marais, and Printemps Haussmann.

Whether you want to buy some French luxury brands from French jewelry , clothing, French perfume , French handbag , and French watches , to French lingerie that will always remind you of your fond honeymoon in Paris, you can be assured of finding what you’re looking for.

And if your Paris honeymoon falls in the sales season (January-February) for winter sales and (June – July) for summer sales, you’ll be able to save big on your purchases.

17. Go on a Helicopter Ride

Bring your honeymoon to the next level by seeing the major attractions of Paris from the sky!

A helicopter tour is a fun, unique, and once-in-a-lifetime experience that’s worthy of a splurge.

Fly over the majestic sights of Paris and play a game of ‘I spy’ as you keep your eyes peeled for iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower in a distance, the Château de Versailles, bridges that span across the Seine, Montparnasse Tower, and more.

This helicopter ride runs for 2 hours (with a 25-minute flight) and comes inclusive of a stopover at Saint-Cyr l’Ecole where you can enjoy some drinks, take photos in front of the helicopter, and chat with your captain.

18.  Watch an Opera Show at the Palais Garnier

Catching an opera show is one of the best things to do in Paris during winter.

One of the best things to do on a honeymoon in Paris is to catch an opera show at Palais Garnier.

The impressive opera house runs plenty of shows whether you’re a fan of classic operas, ballets, recitals, or musical performances. Check the list of shows available on the Palais Garnier official site so you can plan your visit accordingly.

And no, you don’t have to don a fancy evening gown or tuxedo to watch an opera show at Palais Garnier!

As long as you’re not dressed sloppily, casual smart everyday outfits will do, so make sure you pack something nice for a fun opera evening while you’re on your Paris honeymoon though! Take this as your opportunity to doll up and get out of your usual sturdy sightseeing shoes.

However, even if you’re not a fan of Opera shows, you should still visit the Palais Garnier on a self-guided visit to take in its opulence.

From the Grand staircase, its dazzling Grand foyer, and countless chandeliers to mosaic works and fancy touches everywhere you look, this is one place not to miss on your honeymoon to Paris.

Unlike the show which is pricey, a self-guided visit is easily affordable. You’ll need to buy this Palais Garnier entry ticket to gain access.

You can also learn more about this landmark by reading these interesting facts about Palais Garnier .

19. Admire Art at Paris’ Best Museums

Paris is Famous for Mona Lisa

As a city enveloped in art, there is a plethora of museums that will impress art enthusiasts.

You can spend your afternoon strolling through the Louvre museum to see the famed Mona Lisa and other famous Louvre paintings and sculptures .

Being the most famous art museum in the world, it is usually crowded, so plan your trip well to avoid crowds or better yet purchase this Louvre museum timed entry ticket to avoid wasting time.

However, the Louvre is not the only museum in Paris worth visiting! There are over 130 museums in the city to choose from depending on the kind of art you’re interested in. Below are some of the cool museums not to miss.

Orsay museum in Paris

Orsay museum: If you’re into impressionist and post-impressionist art, this museum will not disappoint. You’ll find paintings by Claude Monet , Édouard Manet, Auguste Renoir , Van Gogh, and many other famous international and French painters . Purchase this ticket to admire the art in the Orsay museum .

Centre Pompidou: Have a knack for modern and contemporary art? This is one museum in Paris you shouldn’t miss. Another feature that makes this museum stand out is that it has a rooftop observation deck where you can enjoy stunning views. Grab this ticket to access Centre Pompidou .

Musée Marmottan Monet: If you’re both fans of Claude Monet, this museum should be high on your Paris bucket list . It houses one of the largest collections of the artist’s paintings including the famous Impression, Sunrise. You’ll need this ticket to visit it .

Musée de l’Orangerie: This museum also houses impressionist and post-impressionist paintings but it’s most famous for the large water lilies paintings by Claude Monet. Grab this reserved entry ticket to avoid the long lines .

Besides the above famous museums, you can also check out these smaller and free museums in Paris .

20. Experience Magic at Disneyland Paris

Disneyland Paris hotel

If you’re looking for a fun and magical day trip from Paris , look no further than Disneyland Paris.

In less than 1 hour from Paris, you’ll be surrounded by the magic of Disney, meet Disney characters, and ride in fun and thrilling Disneyland Paris rides to unleash the kids in you.

If you’re coming from the airport, you can read this post on how to get from CDG airport Disneyland Paris and make sure that you know these Disneyland Paris tips for a memorable day.

And don’t forget to grab this Disneyland Paris entry ticket before you go to avoid the long ticketing queues.

21. Have an Evening of Entertainment at a Cabaret

Spending Your Evening Watching a Cabaret Show is one of the best rainy day activities in Paris.

One of the best ways to spend a romantic night in Paris is by watching a cabaret show where you’ll be treated to mesmerizing and electric performances from dances, songs, and glittering attires while also enjoying champagne and dinner.

There are quite a number of cabarets in Paris but the ones I recommend include Moulin Rouge, Crazy Horse, and Paradis Latin. However, deciding which one to go for depends on what you enjoy as a couple.

If you want the most famous and touristy that showcases the traditional can-can dances, then Moulin Rouge is the best choice. You should note that seats book out fast so purchase your ticket early enough. You can opt for this Moulin rouge cabaret show with champagne and dinner or this one with just champagne — it’s also a bit cheaper.

If you’re both looking for a much more modern and s&nsual show with charming light effects and seductive dancers, this cabaret show at Le Crazy Horse de Paris is the perfect option for you.

If you want something more authentic that is not crowded and not too s&xual, Paradis Latin is the best option. Plus, its friendly budget compared to other cabarets in Paris makes it worthwhile. You can book your cabaret show at Paradis Latin here .

22. Go For a Romantic Paris Vintage Citroën 2CV Tour

What is a honeymoon in Paris without a ride in a Vintage Citroën 2CV car? On this vintage ride , your driver/tour guide will take you through the charming streets of Paris like Champs-Élysées while visiting the city’s most romantic places including the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Montmartre, and more.

And to crown your visit, you’ll toast to each other with a glass of champagne.

23. Stroll the Banks of the Seine

Strolling the banks of the Seine is one of the cool things to do on a Paris honeymoon.

While taking a cruise on the river is one activity not to miss, strolling on the banks of the Seine hand in hand is also a fun romantic activity in Paris .

Besides enjoying the views of the Seine, you’ll be able to spot some landmarks like the Notre Dame Cathedral if you’re in the area of Ile de la cite , and even admire the beautiful bridges of Paris .

But regardless of where you walk on the Seine banks, you’re bound to have a great time.

24. Take in the View of Paris From Various Vantage Points

View of Paris from Arc de Triomphe

Paris is stunning from below but it gets even more beautiful from above. There are various vantage points to take in the beauty of Paris both free and paid and depending on how much time you have in Paris, try to check out at least one or two.

My favorite place to take in the city views is no doubt the Arc de Triomphe ( you’ll need this entry ticket to access its observation) to get a glimpse of the Effiel Tower and the 12 diverging roads from Place Charles de Gaule.

Other places that offer stunning views of Paris include the dome of Sacre Coeur, the rooftop of Galeries Lafayette and Printemps Haussmann, Montparnasse Tower, Centre Pompidou, and more.

25. Go off the beaten path

Île aux Cygnes is one of the best hidden gems in Paris.

If you’re a couple that enjoys a much less-discovered route compared to all the famous attractions or you have more time to embark on an off-the-beaten path, then you’ll be happy to know that there are many hidden gems in Paris .

From exploring the Île Aux Cygnes (Island of Swans) a human-made Island that houses the largest statue of liberty in Paris , Atelier Des Lumières for an immersive digital art display, to the Wine Museum, there are so many non-touristy things to do in Paris that you’ll enjoy on your honeymoon.

Practical Tips for a Perfect Honeymoon in Paris

Celebrating Valentine’s Day is one of the fun things to do in Paris in february

Book way In advance

There is no doubt that Paris is one of the most visited cities in Europe and all these people will want to partake in these same activities.

The downside is that not all people can get a slot, so if you want to guarantee a seat in an Opera show, a Cabaret, a guided tour, an entry to an attraction, or even a table at one of the fancy restaurants, you’ll need to book way in advance. Think 2-4 months before your intended visit. The same goes for hotels.

Purchase Skip-the-line Tickets for Attractions

And in the same way, for entry tickets for famous attractions, always opt for skip-the-line tickets. You wouldn’t want to wait in line for 2 hours at the Eiffel Tower or the Louvre just to enter. That time is better used for sightseeing than queuing.

You can check out my complete list of skip-the-line tickets in Paris here and other ways of skipping the line in Paris here.

The Arc de Triomphe is one of the 8th arrondissement attractions in Paris to visit.

Don’t leave Love Locks in Paris

The idea of leaving a love lock on the many Paris bridges can be quite tempting, especially if you’re on a honeymoon! It will feel like leaving a stamp in the city.

However romantic that may sound, it’s now a hazard for the city! In fact, the former love lock bridge (Pont des arts) got structural damages because of the weight of the locks, and some were even removed — and I know you wouldn’t want to come back to Paris with no bridges at all.

Instead, go to those bridges with locks, re-proclaim your love for your new husband/wife and take photos with the locks that still remain.

Create an Itinerary But Don’t Go Overboard

Creating an itinerary will help you see the highlights of Paris, but while you may want to see everything, you have to accept the fact that you just can’t see everything in Paris — even if you have 1 full month.

In that case, leave room for spontaneity and unexpected exploration. After all, you’re on a honeymoon and you should savor the moments instead of rushing through everything.

Honeymoon in Paris

How Long Should A Honeymoon In Paris Be?

There is no set rule in stone on how long a honeymoon in Paris should be. You can easily spend a week or 2 and you’ll still have plenty to do.

Ultimately, this depends on how much time you have as a couple and your other commitments but if I were to advise, I’d say plan for 4 days in Paris.

With 4 days, you can see the highlights of the city, embark on a hidden path and also throw in a day trip.

But if you have less time, you can either follow my 2-day in Paris itinerary or this 3-day Paris itinerary to get the most out of your visit.

Strap in folks, this is going to be a biggie. It’s time to discover how you can plan the ultimate Paris honeymoon.

Sure Paris has historic landmarks, high-end hotels, and exquisite cuisine wherever you look, but there’s another side to the city. One filled with plenty of green spaces that are ideal for a romantic stroll, bike ride, or picnic in the park.

Whether you want your Paris honeymoon to be filled with culture-seeking and croissants or long strolls in Jardin du Luxembourg (or, even better – a combo of the two), you’re going to need somewhere to stay.

Cue this excellent guide.

Why Honeymoon in Paris

Paris

Do we even need to explain? A honeymoon in Paris is a top destination for couples around the world. And we understand why.

Paris is a city that makes us smile just thinking about it. The City of Light, or Love, or the Louvre… no other location seems as tailor-made for a romantic vacation as Paris, France.

A stunning honeymoon destination , Paris will delight you with its Hausmann-style architecture, world-class museums, and charming neighborhoods.

Keep reading to discover why a honeymoon in Paris is one of the best choices you can make together – after saying I do , of course.

Best for Views of the Eiffel Tower

paris tour honeymoon package

Dreaming of staying at the best honeymoon hotel in Paris? The Shangri-La Paris is easily one of the top places to stay. The decor is a stylish blend of Asian and European influences that gracefully balances lighter shades of several colors.

Choose from two restaurants that highlight French and Chinese cuisines with great success, one of which has earned itself a Michelin star.

But the real star of the show is The Duplex Eiffel View Suite, a two-level residence that offers an incredible view of the Eiffel Tower directly from your King bed. You can catch it sparkling from your private balcony. What more could you want?

Le Pavillon de la Reine

Best for a Weekend Getaway to Paris

Le Pavillon de la Reine & Spa

Le Marais is the neighborhood that most people picture when they think about classic Parisian afternoons. It’s perfectly walkable, especially on Sundays when cars can’t access many of the picturesque streets.

Le Pavillon de la Reine is where you want to book if you’re spending a weekend in Paris. It’s a quintessential Paris honeymoon hotel that looks as stunning outside as when you’re indoors.

Each room is decked out in a style of its own, but they all share the quiet, romantic ambiance that the hotel is famous for. Book a suite and enjoy the extra space in your room that is unabashedly Paris in style.

The restaurant and spa are both popular and worth spending a couple of hours enjoying together on your honeymoon in Paris. We don’t think you’ll regret a minute of it.

Hotel Le Six

6th Arrondissement

Best for a Budget-Friendly Paris Honeymoon

paris tour honeymoon package

Hotel Le Six is within easy walking distance from some of the most famous neighborhoods in Paris.

It’s a short jaunt to Luxembourg Gardens, Saint Germain-des-Prés (Paris’s oldest church), and Montparnasse. You can also head to some of the most iconic cafes and restaurants in Paris, just minutes from the hotel.

The rooms here are comfortable and well decorated – especially for the bargain price. The furniture, curtains, and walls all have an airy, unfussy quality that matches the hardwood floors, making the room feel larger than it is.

Look out your window and see the bustling city right outside, waiting for you to explore.

Want to have a romantic start to your day in Paris? Order breakfast in your room, add some optional champagne and reserve the private spa downstairs.

La Planque Hotel

Best for an Off-Beat Paris Honeymoon

paris tour honeymoon package

Are you less interested in staying near Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower, or other classic tourist hotspots on your Paris honeymoon?

La Planque Hotel is in the Belleville district, not too far from Canal Saint-Martin – one of Paris’s more vibrant and energetic neighborhoods.

Though it’s been catching on with out-of-towners over recent years, you can still get great value on this hotel which puts you right in the center of one of the coolest areas in Paris.

The no-frills rooms are perfectly cozy but have everything you need for comfort and no-fuss romance on your honeymoon in Paris. The breakfast buffet is popular, room service is available when needed, or you can walk to numerous cafes and restaurants nearby.

If you want the best honeymoon hotel in Paris for a budget-friendly vacation in a trendy neighborhood, La Planque is the one for you.

Le Bristol Paris

8th Arrondissement

Best for a Honeymoon in the Fashion District

Le Bristol Paris

If you fancy staying at the best honeymoon hotel in Paris replete with opulence, consider staying at Le Bristol Paris . The five-star, almost 100-year-old hotel knows a thing or two about luxury and style.

You’ll be staying in the heart of the Fashion District on your Paris honeymoon, and it’s evident in the care put into the lobby, restaurants, and rooms at the iconic property.

From special events like a Gabriella Hurst pop-up residence to the three-Michelin star masterpiece Epicure, your honeymoon in Paris will be sophisticated and grand at Le Bristol Paris.

Each room in the hotel looks near-perfect, but it’s worth splurging if it’s in your budget.

The best room in the house? The Terrace Suite with Outdoor Spa is one of the most photo-worthy spaces in the hotel, with a spectacular in-room jacuzzi (and an outdoor option, too).

Paris Honeymoon Tips: What You Need to Know

How to get to paris .

Getting to your Paris honeymoon is a breeze from many destinations. Charles de Gaulle (CDG) is the main International airport, with over a thousand flights landing there nearly every day.

The train system is also fantastic, with several stations supporting numerous lines that connect the city with countries throughout Europe.

The Best Paris Honeymoon Destinations

Eiffel tower .

Eiffel Tower

We can’t discuss Paris without this big guy – the Eiffel Tower is an imposing iron structure built for the World’s Fair in 1899.

Don’t let the scale deceive you, the impressive height means it stands out, even if you are farther away than you think.

Bring your best pair of shoes and get carbed-up on croissants, climbing the stairs is an excellent way to experience the views and magnitude of the landmark on your Paris honeymoon.

You can also take one of several elevators, including a private lift to the Jules Verne restaurant for some excellent French cuisine and 2nd story views.

Louvre Museum

Want to check out the Louvre on your honeymoon in Paris? You’re not alone, as it’s one of the most famous destinations in the world.

No wonder many honeymooners make it a point to visit the iconic art museum – it’s stunning.

The Louvre sits on former fortress grounds that were later home to a palace. The building still stands (but has undergone some renovations) and is now home to art from around the world.

The palace and the newer (but no less impressive) Louvre Pyramid are exceptional to look at from the outside.

Once you step inside, the art collection is equally amazing. The original Mona Lisa, Great Sphinx of Tanis , and Venus de Milo are just a few of the many wonders at the Louvre.

Musée d’Orsay

Want to see one of the more unique museums on your Paris honeymoon? How does an art museum in a former train station sound?

The Musée d’Orsay rests in what was once the Gare d’Orsay train station.

The building is a large part of the draw here – we can’t think of a much more excellent space. The barrel-style vaulted ceiling is impossible to ignore and lends perfect lighting to the sculptures and paintings inside.

The large antique clock upstairs is one of the main attractions and provides the setting for one of the most timeless photos you can take on your Paris honeymoon.

Why is spending a day exploring Montmartre one of the best honeymoon ideas in Paris? The whimsical streets are famous for cobbled terrain, dramatic vistas from the top of a large hill, and excellent restaurants.

Have you seen Amélie ? The impossibly cute village in Paris is where the film takes place.

Make sure you check out Sacré-Cœur, Place du Tertre, and Vigne du Clos Montmartre (from outside) while you’re in the area.

Jardin du Luxembourg

Jardin du Luxembourg

Want to see one of the lovely parks that makes Paris so beautiful? The palace grounds are perfect for getting some fresh air when you’re on your honeymoon in Paris.

Sailing model boats, enjoying lunch near the fountain, or admiring the gorgeous flowers are just a few activities you can do at one of the best outdoor spaces in Paris.

Cafe de Flore

You can’t have a Paris honeymoon without visiting a cafe, right? There are cafes on nearly every street in the beautiful city – but none more famous than Cafe de Flore.

The food here is good (not great). But the main reason many people stop by the famous restaurant on their Paris honeymoon is its rich history.

From Picasso to Hemmingway, some of the greatest icons of the 20th century spent time drawing inspiration and probably enjoying a meal or beverage at this iconic cafe.

Notre Dame

One of the most iconic landmarks in all of Europe, Notre Dame is a Gothic building that has been open since the 1300s.

Currently closed to the public, if you’re planning on taking a honeymoon in Paris in 2024 or later, you’ll be able to visit the iconic building once again.

The Best Time to Visit Paris

The best time for a Paris honeymoon is in the fall or winter.

We love the idea of a Paris honeymoon around the holiday season. But if you want something other than a winter honeymoon, September to November will be the best time to go.

You’ll have an unforgettable honeymoon in Paris with plenty to do, excellent opportunities for autumn photos, and the perfect weather for eating some of our favorite dishes like Bouchée à la Reine.

How Long to Spend on Your Paris Honeymoon

Visiting Paris is something that many married couples want to do at some point. But how long is the perfect Paris honeymoon?

5-7 days on your Paris honeymoon is usually the perfect amount of time.

How Much Does a Paris Honeymoon Cost?

How much does a honeymoon in Paris cost? On average, a Paris honeymoon costs more than many stunning yet affordable honeymoon destinations .

On average, the best honeymoon hotels in Paris will cost over $3500 a week. You can, however, find some great bargains if you’re willing to stay in far-out neighborhoods, go during off-peak seasons, and shop around for savings.

How to Reach Paris?

Paris is one of the busiest airports in Europe, with several flights flying in and out from across the world. Charles de Gaulle International Airport is a major airport in Paris, with two other smaller airports servicing the city viz. Orly International Airport and Beauvais Airport.

Traveling by sea is a fantastic experience for those traveling from the United Kingdom. Paris is well connected to many cities within France with five international train stations. Buses also ply internationally, connecting Paris with neighbouring countries – you can board one at the Gare Routiere Internationale du Paris-Gallieni.

Planning Your Paris Honeymoon

Paris is the quintessential honeymoon destination for all types of couples: those who love Michelin-starred meals and gourmand experiences, art aficionados keen on visiting the plethora of museums and galleries, self-care seekers in search of the best spas and wellness offerings in the city, and first-timers to La Ville-Lumière ‘City of Lights’ who want to take everything in, hand in hand, during romantic strolls along the Seine.

As for the best times to visit, Kate Schwab, Media Relations Manager for the France Tourism Agency Atout France urges planners to consider May, June, September, and October. “Paris is romantic all year round but if you’re looking for warm weather and not too many crowds, these are the best months,” she explains. “July and August will be quite hot and many Parisians are on vacation, which means many shops and restaurants will be closed.”

On the contrary, Paris can also be magical in the cooler fall and winter months. “Being in Paris when it’s a little chillier outside is a great excuse to cuddle up at a cafe,” says Amina Dearmon ,  luxury travel expert and owner of Perspectives Travel . “Plus, many dining establishments do a great job of keeping their outside spaces heated in the winter, so you’re able to sit outside year-round.”

Another reason to visit in the winter is flight costs can be significantly lower, as long as you avoid the holiday rush. According to skyscanner.com, roundtrip tickets to Paris in December/January fall in the $316-$608 range depending on where you're flying in from, while ticket prices can reach $529-1,000+ during the months of May/June.

Here are our Paris basics:

  • Language: French
  • Currency: Euro
  • When to Go: May, June, September, and October.
  • Getting There: Paris is one of the biggest metropolitan hubs in the world, so most major airlines fly into one of their two airports: Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and Orly. As for one of the most honeymoon-worthy ways to arrive, there’s La Compagnie , the business-class-only boutique airline with full-flat seats and complimentary Wi-Fi whose rates can often be 30 to 50 percent less expensive than their competitors. Then there’s French Bee , which is a great option for honeymooners who are looking to fly in comfortable Premium Economy (for a fraction of the cost) and leave the splurging for Paris. Rates begin around $228 one-way, but you can take book add-ons for couples like the Instant Duo—an aperitif pre-meal, bottles of Champagne, and plates of warm canapés. JetBlue also just announced a nonstop leg from NYC to Paris beginning this summer.
  • Transportation: Ubers are easily accessible and effortless as far as booking a ride from your phone is concerned, but the Paris Métro is super convenient and less costly than taking cars everywhere. Paris also has taxis, city buses, and numerous trains for day trips from one of their six stations: Gare du Nord, Gare de l'Est, Gare de Lyon, Gare d'Austerlitz, Gare Montparnasse, Gare Saint-Lazare.
  • Must-Pack: Sneakers and walking shoes for exploring the city by foot, light layers and a rain jacket for the spring, sweaters and a warm coat for the winter, and evening attire.

Places to Stay During Your Paris Honeymoon

When it comes to all the decisions that go into planning a Paris honeymoon, choosing where to stay is arguably the best part of the process. From five-star palaces with white glove butler service and candle-lit turn-down amenities to luxe maisons boasting unparalleled views of the Eiffel Tower and charming B&Bs that feel intimate and undiscovered, we could wax poetic about all of the romantic hotels this city has to offer forever. But for now, we’ll start with the crème de la crème of accommodations.

Hôtel Dame des Arts

“ Hôtel Dame des Arts  is a new boutique hotel in Paris' Saint-Germain-des-Prés that’s—in my opinion—one of Paris' most romantic,” says Brandon Berkson, founder of boutique hotel & travel guide,  Hotels Above Par . “It will win you and your partner over, from its rooftop with vantage points of notable Parisian monuments such as the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame to its abundance of rooms with private outdoor balconies (over one-third of the rooms have them), and supply of bath products from Diptyque's luxe L'Art du Soin collection that makes a bubble bath with your S.O. that much more tantalizing.

Hôtel Lutetia

Another one of Berkson’s top picks,  Hôtel Lutetia , is situated on Paris' Left Bank and is as luxe and exceedingly romantic as they come. “Couples here will be privy to the nourishing onsite spa focusing on holistic wellness and if in the mood to splurge, the Eiffel Penthouse and its top-floor, 360-degree rooftop terrace will win your heart,” he says. “To even add more magic to your stay, the hotel can arrange a private dinner for two up here.

Saint James Paris

As a member of the esteemed Relais & Châteaux family, a stay at Saint James Paris will have you feeling like you're living in your very own chateau. Perhaps that’s because it’s the only chateau-hotel in Paris, in the center of the posh 16th. It’s also worth noting that they’re home to one of only two Guerlain spas in in the city outside of the famed Institute, just completed a massive indoor pool renovation, and are known for their gourmet restaurant Bellefeuille, as well as a cluster of exquisite suites that are perfcutly suitable for never leaving.

Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris

“The Eiffel Tower views from the rooms at the George V make it the perfect choice for honeymooners who want a view,” raves Dearmon. “The stellar hospitality that the Four Seasons brand is known for means that honeymooners can really customize their stay with unique experiences from touring the Champagne region to spending the day with the chef of the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant.”

Cheval Blanc Paris

Dearmon is also partial to Cheval Blanc Paris , which she says feels like the best kept secret in Paris with just 72 rooms and suites. “The balcony rooms offer privacy and views of the Seine or the Louvre and a massage for two in the Bonheur Suite at the hotell’s Dior Spa is the perfect way to kick off a honeymoon.”

Le Bristol Paris

One of the darlings of the prestigious Oetker Collection , Le Bristol Paris , was the first hotel in France to be awarded ‘Palace’ status so if your’re in the mood for a ‘moon designed for royalty—this is it. Their resident Burmese cat Socrate roams the grounds in a bespoke Goyard collar; their prime real estate location on the iconic Rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré is next to Hermès, Givenchy, and Saint Laurent; and most recently, the hotel launched a quintessentially Parisian partnership with the Opera Gallery, including a private viewing of Marc Chagall’s ‘Les Mariés au coq’ followed by a Michelin-star dinner in the Paris Suite. It doesn’t get more grand than this, lovers.

Hotel Amour

Finally, Schwab says a roster of romantic Parisian hotels wouldn’t be complete without acknowledging Hotel Amour in the 9th arrondisement. “Not only is love in the name but the rooms are cozy and there’s a beautiful back garden that’s very private,” she adds.

A sweet respite from the hustle and bustle of the city, La Réserve offers honeymooners a highly personalized experience in sumptuous accommodations that feel more like a private mansion than a hotel. With views of the Eiffel Tower, the Pantheon, and the Grand Palais, this stunning property has a spa that you'll want to plan a whole day around.

Things to Do During Your Paris Honeymoon

If you’ve never been to Paris (and even if you have, but not as a newlywed), there’s an obvious first stop on the itinerary: the Eiffel Tower. No Paris honeymoon would be complete without a candid in front of this landmark, along with the Louvre, but once you’ve checked those off the list it’s onto the gardens and gorgeous chateaus. Here are a few of our favorite romantic things to do in Paris.

Visit Famous Gardens

While it may be hard to squeeze in every picturesque garden Paris has to offer, there are a few non-negotiables like Jardin de Tuileries . “This is a beautiful park right across from the Louvre,” explains Berkson, “and when here, you can lounge on chairs encircling the central fountain, walk down pathways lined with verdant topiary, or ride the Ferris wheel at the north end and soak up views of one of the world's prettiest cities from above.”

Stroll Through Parks and Plazas

Also worthy of an afternoon designed for two— Place des Vosges —a pleasant-plaza-like park in Paris' trendy Le Marais neighborhood. “The park is one of the oldest in Paris and is surrounded by well-kept 17th-century-style buildings housing cafes and galleries, among other haute haunts,” shares Berkson. “You'll see swaths of locals here as it's not as touristy-heavy like other parks in the city.”

Take a Tour of Versailles

And then there’s Versailles ! Dearmon says her most requested honeymoon activities are a private sailing down the Seine River (departing right before sunset with a bottle of chilled champagne to take in the city sights during golden hour) closely followed by a helicopter ride to Louis XIV’s royal residence. “This is always a memorable way to arrive and it also cuts down on the travel time to Versailles,” she adds.

Enjoy a Waterfront Picnic

A Parisian picnic by the Pont des Artes bridge is another highly suggested pastime of Dearmon’s. “While the locks that made the bridge famous are no longer there, it’s still a beautiful area to visit and enjoy a picnic or just watch the boats sail by,” she says.

Have Cocktails at a Legendary Bar

Last but not least, do not leave this city without cozying up in the corner with your love at Bar Hemingway at The Ritz Paris . Known for the best bartenders in the city—and Colin Peter Field’s (clean) dirty martini with an olive juice ice cube—it’s perhaps the most notorious watering hole in Paris, thanks to famous expat guests like F. Scott Fitzgerald, Cole Porter, and Ernest Hemingway himself.

Explore Reims and The Champagne Region

According to Schwab, a 58-minute train ride will take you to Reims, the capital city of the Champagne region. “For honeymooners who love wine, this is a no-brainer,” she shares. “There are several Champagne houses that are within the city limits or it’s easy to arrange transportation to the surrounding vineyards and the town of Epernay, where visitors can walk along the appropriately named Avenue de Champagne and visit multiple Champagne houses for tours and tastings.”

Take a Trip toMaison Caillebotte or Auvers-sur-Oise

For art lovers, these two destinations are ideal day trips. “At Maison Caillebotte , you’ll find the home and gardens of Impressionist painter Gustave Caillebotte,” says Schwab. “There are rotating exhibits, a restaurant on site and it’s just 45 minutes from Paris on the commuter rail. “ Auvers-sur-Oise is also 45 minutes by train and is best known as the town where Vincent Van Gogh spent the last months of his life. Visitors can see several of the landmarks he painted and visit his grave as well.”

Visit Beaune and Lyon

Two of Dearmon’s favorites for vinophiles turned honeymooners. “Take a romantic stroll through the old city in Beaune, before spending the day wine tasting in Burgundy,” she recommends. Also not to be missed while in Beaune: a leisurely lunch at 2-Michelin-starred Côte d’Or at Le Relais Bernard Loiseau . The famed 5-star hotel, which dates back to 1875, has welcomed guests like Edith Piaf, Charlie Chaplin, and Salvador Dali over the years and just completed a state-of-the-art spa renovation with multiple pools, hammams, and a VIP suite fit for twosomes. In addition to Beaune, Dearmon loves Lyon for its emblematic Lyonnaise cuisine, charming cobblestone alleyways, iconic traboules, and Renaissance architecture.

Can't Miss Romantic Experience: Climbing the  Eiffel Tower  is likely on every Paris-bound couple's itinerary, but for an incredible view  of  the Eiffel Tower, add the  Montparnasse Tower  to the list.

Where to Eat During Your Paris Honeymoon

It’s also worth making reservations when it comes to dining, especially if your eyes—or stomachs—are set on forefathers of romantic French dining like Epicure , Le Cinq , and Le Jules Verne . Here are a few of our expert's favorites:

Restaurant Lasserre

Dearmon recommends Restaurant Lasserre to all of her discerning clients, saying anytime a restaurant has a 19th-century painted wooden ceiling that opens to the sky and over 160,000 bottles of wine in its cellar, there is a wow factor that makes it date-night worthy.

Also on Dearmon's highly-praised list: Apicius . “The lush garden and courtyard setting of this former private mansion is a perfect way to experience a Michelin-starred meal.

For those couples who prefer to dine indoors, the airy dining rooms feature beautiful chandeliers and interiors by François-Joseph Graf.” Berkson favors Le Derrière , a charming eatery in Le Marais. “It's upscale, and they have an inviting courtyard terrace that's cozy when temperatures warm up a bit—whether that be for lunch or dinner,” he recalls. “Expect French food in a trendy setting and the eccentric art collection inside will definitely catch your attention.”

La Crème de Paris

“In true French fashion, sweet-toothed couples should careen over to La Crème de Paris in the 9th arrondissement for superlative crepes,” says Berkson. “It's the ultimate après date-night dessert—and the Banana Nutella Crepe with a scoop of vanilla ice cream is always a good idea.”

Madame Brasserie

Another unique idea for a honeymoon is Madame Brasserie , which, according to Schwab, recently opened on the first floor of the Eiffel Tower. “Celebrity chef Thierry Marx offers prix-fixe menus and it’s a memorable experience. For an even more romantic aspect, be sure to book the Paris View section when reserving so you can dine overlooking the lights of Paris.”

An outsized budget isn’t necessary for having a candlelit dinner to remember . Cléo turns out gorgeous, refined food at less-than-outrageous prices and the charming and dimly lit Viola is another with beautiful food at reasonable prices.

Café des Musées

"You have to do a classic French bistro, like Josephine Chez Dumonet or Café des Musées ," says Moynihan, "both with Belle Epoque roots and classic dishes like beef bourguignon and sole meuniere (the dish that made Julia Child fall in love with French cooking)."

Le Bustronome

If you want dinner to take you on a little ride—literally—hop on board Le Bustronome , an actual bus with a restaurant inside that allows you to see Paris all lit up as you dine. And of course, there are multitudes of options on the river as well as beside it. Bottom line: It’s almost impossible not to feel seduced by the after-dark scene in the historic city.

Budgeting for Your Paris Honeymoon

Budgeting for a Paris honeymoon will depend on the season you're traveling to this European destination. Peak season, as mentioned above, is June through August, so our experts recommend that honeymooners book their trip during shoulder months like May and October when prices will be milder for flights and accommodations (you'll also avoid the heat and tourist crowds).

Before you book your trip, be sure to look at the euro-to-dollar exchange rate. Budgeting for a honeymoon in Paris is sort of akin to solving a Rubik's cube. Shuffling funds from one colored block (dining) to another (hotels) which are the hardest to align. If you're a splurge-loving couple, then the sky is the limit budget-wise—we're talking upwards of 10k for a week here, but if you like to live modestly (yet romantically) it's quite possible to get by on $150 per person a day (not including accommodations). By taking the metro in lieu of Ubers, visiting free or reasonably priced attractions, and dining at fast-casual restaurants instead of the culinary heavy hitters, Paris can actually be more affordable than you think.

Best Time to Visit Paris

Paris honeymoon planning tips, best paris honeymoon hotels & resorts, things to do in paris for couples, what to pack for a paris honeymoon.

A quaint street in Paris, France

The best time to visit Paris depends on personal preference and budget, but for a Paris honeymoon, spring is ideal. After all, Paris is famous for its exceptional beauty during that time (April and May). September and October are excellent options, too, as crowds are thinner and the weather is more temperate.

A summer honeymoon in Paris has its appeal, but you can expect much higher hotel rates, high temperatures and plenty of tourists.

December is magical in Paris with its holiday markets, but, of course, it's cold. Winters in Paris generally tend to be wet and gray, so unless you want to spend most of your time indoors sipping hot chocolate, book a date for another time of year.

Best weather: April to May, September to October. Festival highlights: Held annually on the first Saturday of October, Nuit Blanche is an all-night arts festival that transforms Paris into an open-air museum. Paris Fashion Week occurs twice a year, with the Spring/Summer collections shown in late September to early October, and the Autumn/Winter collections in late February to early March. Celebrated on July 14th, Bastille Day is France's national day, commemorating the French Revolution and the storming of the Bastille prison. On June 21st, the streets, bars, and restaurants of Paris come alive with music to celebrate the summer solstice for Fête de la Musique.

Paris is the textbook romantic honeymoon destination . With its beautiful metropolis as the backdrop, you and your sweetheart will stroll along historic cobblestone streets, people-watch at outdoor cafes and dine at Michelin-rated restaurants.

This romantic city is also home to several of the world's top museums (hello to the Louvre), numerous luxury flagships and hip gastronomic experiences. Paris is also quite easy to reach, with direct flights from most major North American airports. But before you start planning activities or booking your flights , make sure you have your basics covered.

Entry requirements: A US passport that is valid for at least three months after exiting the Schengen Area. You can stay as long as 90 days without a visa. Starting in 2025, US citizens need to have an ETIAS for France . It is valid for 3 years and can be obtained online. Language: French is the official language of Paris, though many residents and individuals working in the tourism industry speak English and other languages. Location: Paris is situated in the north-central part of France, on the River Seine. It's both the capital and largest city in the country. Currency: The Euro (€) is the official currency used in Paris, as it is in the rest of France and many European Union countries. Flight time to Paris: From New York City, the flight time to Paris is approximately 7 to 8 hours direct. Getting around: Paris boasts an efficient public transportation system that includes the Métro (subway), buses and trams. The city is also bike-friendly and has several bike-sharing stations, like Vélib'. While it's compact enough to explore on foot, taxis and ride-sharing services are widely available for more direct routes.

Pro tip: Reach out to a honeymoon planning expert to find Paris honeymoon packages, flights and accommodations. You can check out travel agents near you on The Knot Marketplace .

Figuring out where to stay for your Paris honeymoon means narrowing down accommodations that'll provide a blend of romance, comfort and convenience. The city is divided into arrondissements (districts), each offering its unique charm and attractions. For a truly romantic experience, consider staying in the heart of Paris near the River Seine, where neighborhoods like the 1st arrondissement offer proximity to the Louvre and the Tuileries Gardens, or the 4th with its picturesque Marais district. The 7th arrondissement is another prime choice, home to the Eiffel Tower and lovely boutique hotels that offer stunning views. Luxury seekers might gravitate towards the 8th arrondissement, famed for its romantic French restaurants and opulent hotels along the Champs-Élysées. Meanwhile, couples looking for a more bohemian or artistic vibe might find Montmartre in the 18th arrondissement or the Latin Quarter in the 5th to be more their style, with cozy cafes and vibrant street life. Always consider what experiences you want to prioritize—whether it's waking up to a view of the Eiffel Tower, strolling through historic streets or dining in Michelin-starred restaurants. This romantic city offers a ton of options that suit every honeymoon dream, blending its iconic elegance with intimate, memorable stays.

Le Bristol Paris

One of the best-known properties for luxury in Paris is Le Bristol (an Oetker property). In fact, Stewart calls this five-star hotel a French classic. Situated on the famed and elegant street, Rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré, it's the place to spot French stars and politicians. Plus, the rooms are newly renovated and suites are an option for an extra splurge. (It is your honeymoon, after all.)

For over-the-top luxury, another legendary hotel in Paris is the Ritz Paris. The property overlooks the Place Vendome. Founded in 1898, the hotel even houses a cooking school, Ecole Ritz Escoffier.

Hôtel de Crillon

A Rosewood property, the iconic Hôtel de Crillon is the representation of Parisian service as it overlooks the Place de la Concorde. Along with its plush and impeccably outfitted rooms, guests are able to enjoy the hotel's calming spaces and open-air dining options. Relax at Sense, the brand's spa, and grab cocktails on the property's rooftop bar, Bonsoir Paris.

Hotel Providence Paris

For a chic and trendy experience in a grittier corner of Paris, Stewart vouches for this boutique hotel. Located in a neighborhood including the Haut-Marais, Beaubourg, and the Saint-Martin Canal, the property is surrounded by boutiques and art galleries.

Pro tip: For accommodations that'll give you and your beau more privacy (or budget-friendly options), you might want to consider booking a romantic Airbnb or VRBO .

A Paris honeymoon offers endless possibilities for couples seeking to immerse themselves in romance and culture. Whether you spend your getaway simply strolling the streets or catching cabaret shows, there are plenty of Paris honeymoon ideas and things to do together .

Aerial view of Arc de Triomphe, Paris

Walk Everywhere and See the Sights

Architecture buffs will appreciate how Paris features building styles from the Middle Ages on, including Gothic, Classic Revival, Belle Epoque, Art Nouveau and Art Deco. The best way to experience these historic structures is by sightseeing by foot or with a guide. You'll see iconic landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower, Sacre Coeur, Palais Royal, the Arc de Triomphe and the Place de la Concorde. You'll also people-watch, which is one of the best aspects of visiting a metropolis like Paris. To rest your feet, couples tend to stop by a cafe for a drink. (We recommend Les Deux Magots in Saint-Germain-des-Prés.) Or pick up a bottle of French wine, and pick up fresh fruit, local cheeses, baguette sandwiches and picnic in the Luxembourg Gardens.

Shop Until You Drop

To splurge on Louis Vuitton or Cartier goods while in France, spend time on or around the Avenue des Champs-Élysées. Meanwhile, the more charming and intimate Saint-Germain-des-Prés district is known for its stylish, more bohemian boutiques. In addition to contemporary art, Le Marais is home to some iconic designers, adorable bookstores and vintage fashion spots.

Descend into the Catacombs of Paris

For history buffs and lovers of the macabre, tour this network of underground ossuaries, containing the remains of more than six million people. After all, for some, a reminder of human mortality can be romantic.

Dine at a Michelin-Starred Restaurant

For the ultimate in high-end French food, experience Guy Savoy . According to the Michelin Guide, this revered spot is known for its artichoke soup with black truffles, rouget fish entree and mille feuille dessert (Napoleon pastry).

For a more affordable experience, try a spot with only one Michelin star, such as La Tour d'Argent. Family-owned since 1912, this restaurant in the Latin Quarter (home to the Sorbonne) is famous for its roasted and pressed duck, extensive wine cellar and service. It also features views of Notre Dame Cathedral and the Seine.

Take a Seine River Cruise

Buy a ticket to ride one of the famous riverboats ( The Bateaux-Mouches ) that cruise up and down the Seine River. Departing from a pier close to the Pont de l'Alma on the Port de la Conférence, they pass several landmarks, including the Cathedral of Notre Dame, the Louvre Museum and the Musée d'Orsay.

View Art—from High to Low

Visit Leonardo Da Vinci's "Mona Lisa" and thousands of other noteworthy works in the world's largest art museum, The Louvre (Musée du Louvre). Situated on the Right Bank of the Seine, in Paris' first arrondissement, the 782,910-square-foot complex holds a collection representing prehistory through the present day.

For accessible pieces that you can actually buy, stroll through Montmartre, the historic arts district. Among its many galleries, honeymooners might want to stop by The Musée de l'erotisme, which houses erotic art (like fertility sculptures). Or, explore galleries and museums in the Montparnasse, Marais or Saint-Germain-des-Prés arrondissements.

Go on a Day Trip to Versailles or Disneyland Paris

For the ultimate day trip from Paris , take the train to the Palace of Versailles (Chateau de Versailles). A World Heritage Site, this 17th-century chateau was originally Louis XIII's hunting pavilion. From his son, Louis XIV, to future kings, the palace was enlarged and embellished until the French Revolution. To tour the 2,300 rooms (spread over 63,154 square meters), book a timed ticket. However, feel free to skip the interior and explore the extensive gardens only. Or, for honeymooners who wish to satisfy their inner child, visit Disneyland Paris, located about 20 miles east of the city center. There, you'll find Sleeping Beauty Castle, plus Disney's trademark attractions, shows, and parades.

Get Tickets to the Moulin Rouge

This iconic cabaret, located near Montmartre, is known for its glitz and seductive music and dance. Created in the late 1800s, it currently stars 60 female performers donning a total of 1000 costumes adorned with rhinestones, sequins and feathers. It would make for a great experience gift to add to your honeymoon registry, if you haven't already finalized your list.

Pro tip: Add Paris honeymoon experiences to your gift registry so your loved ones can give you one of these memorable couples activities. Make sure to upload a few Paris photos to your wedding website —your guests will want to see how much fun you had!

A couple strolling down a street in Paris, France

A Parisian getaway means filling up your honeymoon luggage with casual chic and dressier attire. Couples should bring comfortable and muted walking shoes, an umbrella and sunglasses. As with travel to all European countries, your packing checklist should also include a converter, adapter and portable charger for your cell phone.

You'll also want to pack digital and paper copies of key documents, as well as Euros. Dress and prepare, according to seasonality. If you travel during the spring and suffer from allergies, don't forget the allergy medication. Certain areas of Paris are highly pollinated (and the city bursts with life in the spring).
