ANOHNI and the Johnsons have announced their first North American tour in eight years. The upcoming trek comes in support of the group’s latest album, My Back Was a Bridge for You to Cross ,

Kicking off on September 24th in Mexico City, ANOHNI and the Johnsons will then head north to hit cities like Los Angeles, Vancouver, and Chicago before wrapping up in New York City. See the full list of tour dates below, and grab tickets here .

“I am presenting a series of concerts in Mexico, the US, and Canada this fall. It is my first time touring since 2016, and first time with a band in 14 years,” ANOHNI said in a statement. “I feel like I want to sing for people, to affirm that these times are unprecedented, and to hold and express a sense of what’s really happening.”

Anohni and the Johnsons Set First North American Tour Dates in Years

For the first time in nearly a decade, Anohni will embark on a North American tour, this time backed by her group, the Johnsons. Last year, Anohni and the Johnsons released one of the most arresting albums of the year, My Back Was a Bridge for You to Cross , which contained the single “Why Am I Alive Now?” — whose music video was directed by Hunter Schafer . Rolling Stone dubbed the LP one of the 20 best albums of 2023 . The tour dates mark Anohni’s first tour with the Johnsons since 2010.

“I am presenting a series of concerts in Mexico, the U.S., and Canada this fall,” Anohni said in a statement. “It is my first time touring since 2016, and first time with a band in 14 years. I feel like I want to sing for people, to affirm that these times are unprecedented, and to hold and express a sense of what’s really happening.”

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. local time on June 14.

ANOHNI announces first shows with The Johnsons since 2010

The summer run includes two nights at the Barbican in London

ANOHNI has announced her first shows with The Johnsons in 14 years – find all the details below.

Following the release of 2023 album ‘ My Back Was A Bridge For You To Cross ’ – her first in seven years – the artist will be reuniting with The Johnsons for a concert series in the UK and Europe which will include two nights in London.

The first show will take place on June 13 at Epidaurus Festival Herodion in Athens, followed by dates in Madrid, Paris, Berlin and more.

On July 1 and 2, she’ll stop at the Barbican for consecutive shows and finish up with another two at DR Koncerthaus in Copenhagen on July 12 and 13.

General sale tickets will be available from 10am GMT on Friday (March 1). Alternatively, fans can sign up to pre-sale via ANOHNI’s website to purchase tickets from 9am GMT Wednesday (February 28).

ANOHNI will be joined by a nine-piece band including Julia Kent (cello), Maxim Moston (violin), Doug Wieselman (multi-instrumentalist) and Jimmy Hogarth (guitarist/producer).

The shows will see her draw from new material as well as songs from across her back catalogue. The statement that has driven her new work is: “It’s Time to Feel What’s Really Happening.”

Reviewing ‘My Back Was A Bridge For You To Cross’ last year, NME  awarded the album four stars and described it as a “sublime soul reinvention”.

It added that the music was “warm, inviting and tender can still be vital and engaged; that beauty, hope, rage, disillusion, dejection, sorrow and joy can not only co-exist, but thrive in one another’s company”.

Before that, ANOHNI  and  The National ’s Bryce Dessner collaborated on a new string arrangement of the former’s song ‘Another World’ in 2021.

Following last year's critically acclaimed My Back Was a Bridge for You to Cross , ANOHNI has announced her first North American tour dates in nearly a decade, backed by her band the Johnsons . They'll make Canadian stops in Vancouver and Toronto this fall.

"I am presenting a series of concerts in Mexico, the US, and Canada this fall," ANOHNI said in a statement. "It is my first time touring since 2016, and first time with a band in 14 years. I feel like I want to sing for people, to affirm that these times are unprecedented, and to hold and express a sense of what's really happening."

Kicking off on September 24 in Mexico City, ANOHNI and the Johnsons make their first venture into Canada on October 5 to play Vancouver's Chan Centre for the Performing Arts. They return to Canadian soil after a couple of US dates in Seattle in Chicago for a concert at Toronto's Massey Hall on October 15.

They'll wrap the tour with back-to-back shows in Brooklyn, NY, on October 18 and 19. Tickets go on sale June 14 at 10 a.m. local time. Find the full itinerary below.

For the first time in a decade, ANOHNI presents a series of concerts with The Johnsons. Responding to a time of upheaval, ANOHNI issues a challenge: “It’s Time to Feel What's Really Happening.”

Born in the UK and raised in Amsterdam and California, ANOHNI relocated to NYC in her late teens, forming her group The Johnsons in 1998 and establishing a unique path as an artist with a focus on animist and eco-feminist themes. ANOHNI's musical journey has spanned genres - from electronic experimental to avant-classical, dance, and soul. Achieving breakthrough success in 2005 with I Am a Bird Now (2005), she garnered the UK’s Mercury Award. Releases since include The Crying Light (2009), Swanlights (2010), and live albums Cut The World (2012) and TURNING (2014). In 2016, she released the sharply political electronic album HOPELESSNESS, produced by Hudson Mohawke and Daniel Lopatin, noted as one of the year’s top ten albums by the NY Times. That same year, she was nominated for an Academy Award (best song) for the environmentalist elegy, Manta Ray, featured in the film Racing Extinction (dir. Louie Psihoyos, 2015).

ANOHNI's sixth studio album, My Back Was A Bridge For You To Cross (2023), continues to examine societal structures, spirituality, and our relationships with the biosphere. The record was named album of the year by The New Yorker.   Politiken awarded it five hearts and called it "a delicate flame ignited by the soul music of the past," while GAFFA characterized it as "an otherworldly experience."

The artist reaches for courage, resilience, and ceremony in the face of an unprecedented contemporary landscape, and emphasizes, "For me, there’s no heavenly respite; Creation is a spectral and feminine continuum, and we remain an inalienable part of Nature."

Anohni and the Johnsons, Jessica Pratt, Waxahatchee Tapped for Big Ears Festival

Anohni and the Johnsons, Jessica Pratt, and Waxahatchee will appear at Big Ears Festival next year.

Taking place on March 27 through 30 in downtown Knoxville, Tennessee, the stacked lineup also includes Rufus Wainwright, Esperanza Spalding, Taj Mahal, Lankum, Yo La Tengo, Sun Ra Arkestra, Cassandra Jenkins, Wilco's Nels Cline, and many more.

Also featured in the festival is the premiere of Jonny Greenwood's eight-hour pipe organ piece 133 Years of Reverb - performed by James McVinnie and Eliza McCarthy - and the Philip Glass Ensemble, who will play Glass' 1974 piece Music in Twelve Parts . Glass himself performed at the festival alongside Laurie Anderson in 2016.

The 2025 appearance of Anohni and the Johnson is a full circle moment for the band, who helped launch the avant festival in 2009. Anohni recently announced a tour, her first in nearly a decade. Their most recent album, My Back Was a Bridge for You to Cross , was released in 2023.

"It is my first time touring since 2016, and first time with a band in 14 years," she said. "I feel like I want to sing for people, to affirm that these times are unprecedented, and to hold and express a sense of what's really happening."

With an extraordinary voice that earned comparisons with the great blues/jazz diva Nina Simone, fragile piano arrangements and some highly unusual subject matter, Antony Hegarty crashed into the mainstream with his gorgeous, if slightly unsettling second album I Am A Bird Now in 2005 - a shock winner of the Mercury Music Prize. Born in England but mostly raised in America, Hegarty studied experimental theatre in New York and founded Blacklips, a collective of radical performers with a residency at East Village's Pyramid Club.

He then decided to concentrate on music, releasing his self-titled debut album in 1998 after being signed to experimental musician David Tibet's Durtro label. Hegarty was still regarded as an underground artist until the release of I Am A Bird Now, with songs exploring sexuality and androgyny and guest appearances by Rufus Wainwright, Devendra Banhart, Joan Wasser and Lou Reed.

He also established a live outfit with Julia Kent on cello and Parker Kindred on drums before collaborating with experimental film-maker Charles Atlas on a show titled Turning. Third album The Crying Light was released in 2009 featuring orchestral arrangements and themes of ecology and sexual politics and was followed in 2010 by Swanlights, which had a guest vocal by Bjork and was accompanied by an art book showing Hegarty's paintings, collages, photography and writings. Holly Johnson announces 'Welcome to the Pleasuredome' 40th anniversary UK tour

Including a massive homecoming concert

Holly Johnson will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Frankie Goes to Hollywood ’s debut album ‘Welcome to the Pleasuredome’ on a June 2025 UK tour.

Opening at Birmingham Symphony Hall on Friday 6th June, Holly Johnson visits London, Bath, Newcastle and Glasgow before culminating with a massive homecoming show at Liverpool M & S Bank Arena on Saturday 21st June.

First released on 29th October 1984, ‘Welcome to the Pleasuredome’ charted at Number 1 in the UK and sold more than a million copies.

Fans can expect to hear iconic Frankie Goes to Hollywood anthems like the chart-topping ‘Relax,’ ‘Two Tribes,’ and the ethereal ‘The Power of Love’ on the tour next summer.

Tickets go on sale from Absolute Radio Tickets at 9.30am on Friday 13th September.

To coincide with the tour, a new exhibition, “The Holly Johnson Story”, opens at the Museum of Liverpool on 14th September 2024 and runs until 27th. July 2025.

This landmark exhibit explores the life and career of the iconic singer, from his Liverpool roots to international fame. It will feature costumes, memorabilia, personal stories of those impacted by HIV, and Holly's own artwork.

The exhibition promises a journey through his triumphs and struggles, showcasing him as a groundbreaking LGBTQ+ icon. You can find out more HERE .

Texas will hit the road in September 2024 for the UK tour dates, with an extra date added to the string of shows due to phenomenal demand. Originally set to start on 6th September 2024, the extra date saw Sharleen Spiteri and co. kick off their tour at London's The O2 on 5th September 2024.
