Your vacation in Saint Lucia begins five minutes away from Hewanorra Airport via an air-conditioned vehicle that brings you right to our luxurious boat.  Here you are greeted and seated either in the air-conditioned comfortable cabin or on the open-air upper deck.   The trip lasts between 90 minutes to 2 hours while you enjoy a breathtaking view of the amazing turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea and the exotic coast of Saint Lucia.

Complimentary wine, beer, champagne and mimosa’s are provide to adults, along with snacks, soft drinks and bottled water for everyone.

Ground transportation between the Airport and the Boat; and between the Boat and the Resorts are INCLUDED in our fares .

NOW OFFERING “FAST TRACK – AIRPORT CONCIERGE SERVICE”  After selecting your seats and date(s) of travel you simply check the box “Fast Track” and it will be added to your order ($50 usd pp).  A Fast Track representative will meet you between the plane and the terminal by holding a sign with your name on it.  They will bring you to the front of the Immigration line, to baggage, then to the front of the Customs line, saving you time and getting your vacation started FAST!    This service is optional but highly recommended if your flight lands less than an hour and a half before the scheduled Ferry Departure Time.

DELAYED FLIGHT / MISSED CONNECTION INSURANCE

All Tickets are non-refundable, not transferable.     IF you purchase our Insurance, in the event your flight is delayed or you miss a connection causing you to miss the ferry, you will receive a full refund of the ferry fares OR you can transfer your reservation to a different date.   Also, when our Insurance is purchased, the Cancellation Notice requirement drops from 10 days to 4 days (the 10% cancellation penalty still applies, 90% is refunded).  The reduction in Cancellation Notice does not pertain to Groups of 6 or more.

Q. what’s included in our fare.

A. In addition to the gorgeous views, fresh air, lively music, assortment of beer, wine, champagne, soft drinks and snacks, we also include Covid certified ground transportation to & from the boat, and to & from your accommodations (both typically take about 5 – 7 minutes).

Q. Which Time slot should I choose?

A. For INCOMING Flights (“Arrivals”) IF you are purchasing the optional Fast Track (see FAQ Fast Track for more information)  you should be able to arrive at the Ferry within one hour of landing.   If you DON’T purchase the optional Fast Track allow two hours to go through the Immigration line, retrieve baggage, and clear the Customs line.  Sandals Guests should report (time permitting) to the Sandals Lounge to “freshen up” and obtain luggage tags from the Lounge Hosts.   You should then immediately proceed to the Southern Taxi Stand right next to the Sandals Lounge.  Non-Sandals Guests should proceed out of the only exit after Customs and the Southern Taxi stand is immediately in front of those doors.   They will have your names and bring you to the Ferry. The ride is a short five minutes to the boat and if you arrive early we’ll greet you with a cold beer, a glass of wine or champagne or your choice of soft drinks and you can relax on the boat until all guests have arrived.

For departing flights, when you’re traveling from your resort or accommodations to Hewanorra Airport pick a time that’s approximately four hours before your departure.   Fast Track Airport Expediting is also available as an option.

Q. What if my flight arrives early?

A. If your flight arrives more than two hours prior to the scheduled ferry departure, you can ask the taxi company to bring you to Island Breeze – a delightful oceanfront restaurant with outdoor seating that has good local food and drinks at very reasonable prices.    The taxi can also be scheduled to pick you up and bring you to the ferry at the proper time.   PLEASE NOTE that if you choose to do this we ask that you let us know and receive confirmation from us so that we can plan accordingly.   If you’re arriving early but less than two hours prior to our scheduled departure you can come to the boat and enjoy the crew and refreshments prior to departure.

Q. What if my flight arrives late?

A. We try to leave enough “buffer time” so that the occasional short delays are accounted for. You may choose to purchase our insurance for a refund of your fares when missing the Ferry due to flight delays.

Q What is Fast Track ? Do I need it and how do I get it?

A. The “Fast Track” rep meets you between the plane and the terminal (they’ll be holding a dry erase board with your name on it) and escorts you to the front of the Covid tent line, the front of the Immigrations line, to the baggage area, and then to the front of the Customs line – greatly reducing your time in the airport. This service costs $50 usd. If your flight is scheduled to arrive less than one hour before our scheduled departure you should absolutely purchase Fast Track.   Even with more time between your flight’s schedule time of arrival and the Ferry, Fast Track is an amazing time saving option that allows your vacation to start quickly & pleasurably.     Fast Track Satisfaction Guarantee:  In the event that all prior flights have cleared, and you’re seated towards the front of your plane, and you only bypass a few people on short lines – let us know and we’ll reimburse a portion of the fee.  We offer Fast Track for everyone’s benefit, and you’d rather have it and not need it then need it and not have it!

Q. Do you require that certain flight times require the purchase of Fast Track?

A. Yes – if your flight is scheduled to land an hour later (or take off an hour earlier) than previously booked guests, we may require this additional add-on to keep the boat on schedule.

Q. Can I purchase Fast Track even if we don’t necessarily have to but just don’t want to wait on lines?

A. Absolutely. The quicker you get to the boat , the sooner your vacation begins!

Q. I (or one of my traveling companions) gets seasick. Is the Water Ferry for us?

A. Our boat was specially selected to provide the most comfortable ride possible, however we do travel on the Caribbean Sea (which is technically part of the Atlantic Ocean) so there can be choppiness (front to back) but the design of the catamaran hull reduces the side to side motion that generally creates nausea. For people with mild issues, perhaps a half a Dramamine® would be appropriate, but be careful when mixing with alcohol. For people with high sensitivity we would recommend seeking other options. Note that the alternative ground transportation is a long and winding road, and the boat may be the better alternative at your own discretion.

Q. What is your policy on tipping?

A. Our staff ALWAYS greatly appreciates financial recognition for their outstanding service, however, the fare is all inclusive, and tips are 100% voluntary and never “expected” or implied. Note that the taxi drivers are independent from our staff and are compensated by us, but they too always appreciate recognition for a job well done. It’s our pleasure to serve you.

Important Policies

FunToSee Island reserves the right to amend pick up & departure times by +/- 30 minutes. We will notify you at our earliest opportunity prior to making changes, but may in some cases be less than 24 hours advance notice.

Re-booking Fee

Any changes requested by the Customer to the time or date of travel are subject to availability and approval by FunToSee Island Ltd. Changes cost $12.50 per person, per change.

Cancellation Policy 

You are required to provide us with Notice & Reason of Cancellation a minimum of 10 days PRIOR to your date of travel, and a 10% Cancellation “penalty” applies.  If you cancel with LESS THAN 10 days notice to the Company no refunds apply.     Under certain circumstances, at the sole discretion of FunToSee Island Ltd., we may offer to keep your reservation open for future use (subject to availability and subject to the coordination of our schedule).   All refunds are processed within seven (7) days of notification or scheduled travetime but may take up to thirty (30) days to appear in your account.

For groups of 6 or more, unless otherwise agreed in writing by FunToSee Island Ferry,  a minimum of 30 days notice is required to cancel, and a 50% cancellation fee applies.

Indemnity for Missed Flights

It is hereby agreed and understood that in the event that a paying Guest or Guests on board FunToSee Island Ltd.’s (the Company) vessel miss a flight and need to reschedule due to mechanical failure of the Company’s vessel (or the sole gross negligence of it’s management or crew that were reasonably foreseeable and reasonably avoidable) the Company will be responsible for all reasonable incurred extra expenses for which the Company is legally liable. The reasonable (as determined by the Company) incurred extra expenses for which the Company is legally liable is limited to overnight accommodations, rebooking fees, ground transportation and food & beverage. Guest agrees to accept this reimbursement as full & final compensation, and to the fullest extent of St. Lucian & maritime law(s) waive(s) any right or claim to any punitive damages or other costs or damages not expressly described herein.

In the event of actual or the threat of hurricanes, weather related issues, volcanic activity, acts of god, war, civil commotion, acts of government (whether St. Lucia or other international country(ies)) including by not limited to Covid related travel bans or interruption of travel; or other such events or conditions that are outside of the control of the Company no such compensation will apply, and the Guest(s) assume all such liability & expenses incurred.  It is further agreed and understood that the Company’s liability shall be excess to any applicable insurance available to the Guest(s) and applies only to those expenses not covered by such insurance.

The maximum amount of indemnity is limited to $1,000.00 usd per customer.

Any Guest(s) who book transfer with less than four hours between hotel pickup and their scheduled flight automatically waives any compensation or reimbursement extended herein and assumes full responsibility for any costs, expenses or damages incurred.

The purchase or provision of Fast Track &/or any similar type airport concierge services through the Company or any 3rd party does not extend or alter the Company’s liability.

All terms contained herein are subject to the laws of Saint Lucia and any resolution of disputes are subject to determination by the courts of Saint Lucia.

We arrived at the terminal in Long Beach in the morning. The parking lot was easily accessible with plenty of spaces. The lines to purchase the ticket was short and employees very efficient. The ride to the island is pleasurable!

Great way to travel to Catalina Island. Fast and efficient loading and unloading. Plenty of room for comfortable indoor or outdoor seating. Got to watch the dolphins playing alongside the boat, which was an added bonus!

The boat was on time both coming and going. Everything, including luggage drop was well organized. The seats were comfortable and there were option for both indoor and outdoor seating. Highly reccommend!

The price of the private boat tour to Santorini from one of the ports of Chania starts from 2750 euros (open deck RIB) and goes up to 3500 euros (luxury cabin RIB) per group (1-6 persons). The price depends mainly on boat size, the number of people in your private group, and the selected extras. You can request a quote via email, WhatsApp, or phone.

If your group is larger than our maximum boat capacity, we can arrange a second boat to accommodate your group. The boats sail and tie together, so the group does not split. While docked, you can go from one vessel to the other. Ask us about the alternative options.

Our company does not offer transportation services. However, we can arrange a one-way or round-trip taxi/minivan service for your transfer to and from the departure point at an additional cost.

** From Fira Old Port, you can walk to Fira (600 steps -20 minutes) or take the cable car (5 euros/person). Then you can take the hiking path from Fira to Oia (6.5km, 2-4 hours) and walk along the edge of the Caldera.  

In Oia, you will explore the alleyways and the staircases, shop for local crafts, and visit the castle of Agios Nikolaos.

Finally, after a 20-minute downhill walk, you will arrive at Ammoudi Bay. There you will have the chance to taste fresh seafood at the traditional local fish taverns and have a last swim before embarking on our safe vessel, which will wait for you there.

*** Those who don’t want to hike can either take a private taxi hire from Fira to Oia, or they can go with our boat from Fira to Ammoudi and then visit Oia by walking through the steps. 

The boat can depart from Chania with good weather conditions, which means winds up to 3 Beaufort (16 km/h), waves up to 0.5m, and sunny days. However, in case of bad weather conditions please check our cancellation policy.

Yes, we do. We can drop you off at Santorini after finishing our private tour or provide a  direct private boat transfer from Crete to Santorini. You will arrange with the reservation department before departure.

The best months for visiting this famous island are from the first days of April to the first ten days of June and September till the end of October. During this season the weather is warm, and you can enjoy the island while avoiding the crowds.

Between June 15 and September 10, bring your Beachwear, Towels, Sunscreen Hat, Hiking shoes, and a wind jacket for early departure and late return. The average (low-high) temperature in the Summer (June -August) in Crete is 20-33 degrees, usually without clouds. For May, June (1st half), September (second half), and October, the average temperature may vary between 18-28 degrees. Bring a long-sleeved shirt and a wind -jacket in case of cloudy weather, rain, or later return to the Port. For the month of April, bring a long-sleeved shirt, a warm jacket, and a beanie hat for the trip in the morning and the return in the evening. Remember to bring beachwear, towels, sunscreen, a hat, and hiking shoes for the warmer hours of the day.

All pets are allowed on board under your supervision.

• SEAze The Day will postpone the date.
• Change the departure and return point accordingly upon arrangement with the guest.
• If none of the two options above are feasible for the client, SEAze The Day shall refund the deposit amount.
• In the event of cancellation more than 10 days before the date of the boat trip , the guest shall receive the 50% of the deposit.
• In the event of notifying us about the cancellation less than 10 days before the date of the boat trip , SEAze The Day shall keep the entire deposit.

We require a 20% deposit for a booking. The remaining balance is paid upon arrival at the Port before the boat departs.

All our boats have portable fire extinguishers, a first aid kit, flares, a floating anchor, a spare boat engine or two main engines, a depth sounder, and a geodetic tracking system (GPS tracker). Also, our staff is highly trained in emergencies, following a specific safety protocol.

There are no health restrictions, but please notify us if you have children under the age of 4, if you have a pregnant person in your group, if you have any allergies, or if a person with disabilities.

HOW DOES THE PRIVATE BOAT RENTAL FROM KRABI WORK

Are you staying in Krabi or Aonang, but do you want to experience the longtail boat trip around the most beautiful locations in Thailand? 

No problem! We have a special package which includes pick up from your hotel in Krabi  and transfer by join speedboat to Phi Phi Island. After your arrival, our captain will be waiting for you in our office at the Phi Phi Pier. 

When you are ready you can start your 4-hour, or 6-hour long tour around the famous Phi Phi Lay Island . We start the trip with a quick visit to Monkey Beach , where you can spot wild monkeys playing on the beach and jumping on the walls of limestone cliffs. You will then cross over to Phi Phi Island, where you can enjoy beautiful snorkeling at Viking Cave , swim in the azure water of Phi Lay Lagoon,  and visit the world-famous Maya Bay national park. The Beach is a famous location in the movie The Beach with Leonardo Dicaprio. When you are ready to come back, our captain will take you back to the pier, or if have some time left we can also stop at Shark Point for another snorkeling and swimming spot. For one day trip you will also visit more locations around Phi Phi Don island. The itinerary depends on the time of the year and weather condition.

This trip is private , so you can choose how much or how little you want to snorkel and how long you want to stay in each location.

When you arrive back to Krabi port, you’ll be taken back to your hotel by minivan. 

ARE THERE ANY EXTRA FEES TO PAY?

Yes, if you wish to visit  Maya Bay  or Bamboo Island  there is a national park entry to pay . The entry for one day is 4 00THB per person and 200THB for a child , small children can usually enter for free. So please, do not forget to bring cash with you.

We include water, fruit, and snorkeling equipment (mask&snorkel) and lunch for you. You can bring some snacks or drinks with you (there is a 7/11 shop at the pier where you can buy some drinks and snacks), we have a cooler box with ice on the boat.

All you need to do is to bring a towel and sunglasses and enjoy a day in paradise!

If you’d like to do a longer tour then we advise you to stay in Koh Phi Phi overnight and book one of our private or group trips for seven or more hours, Early Bird or Sunset tour.

WE CAN NOT CONTROL THE WEATHER . All tour programs and itinerary orders can be changed depending on the weather, wind and tide. All our itineraries and programs are only suggestions and ideas. However, the captain has to check during the day if possible to follow. Your SAFETY is our main priority, and if waves are too big there might be a change of program. From May to November there is an official monsoon season in the south of Thailand. If there is a rain during your hotel pick up time, please contact us by WhatsApp to see if there is a possibility to change for another day. In case you decide to cancel due to rain on the day of your trip, we won’t be able to refund your travel vouchers to the island, but we can refund your long tail boat trip.

We can not predict the weather and it can change suddenly. If you think bad weather would ruin your trip, please reconsider booking a trip with us. Thailand has a tropical climate that can not be predicted. We can not provide any compensation for rainy weather or change in locations. During monsoon season most days, the boat trip does not visit the east side of Phi Phi Don ( Wang Long Bay and Nui Bay ). On some windy days, we can not get to Bamboo Island as the island is a bit further from the main island. We do not offer a refund if the boat can not get to Bamboo Island or other locations during the trip due to strong wind. Another aspect that may affect your trip is the tide. During very low tide, boats can not get to the lagoon, and during high tide there is no beach in Monkey Beach. Please keep all this in mind when making reservations with us.

WE CAN NOT CONTROL THE NATURE . We can not affect if there will be any monkeys on Monkey Beach, Sharks, or jellyfish in the sea . We live on a beautiful island surrounded by beautiful nature which is wild and unpredictable. On some days we see monkeys, small sharks, turtles, or even dolphins. Some days we don’t see any monkeys, the visibility underwater is not good, and snorkeling is not so great. This is nature and we can not predict, or compensate for any lack of wild animals.

Children below 3 years are free of charge. Children 10 years and older are full price. This package is not recommended for pregnant woman as it includes speedboat transfers.

REFUND POLICY:  Our refund policy is a 100% refund if canceled up until 1 month of the date you are booked to come and 50% if you cancel between 48h and 1 month before the date of your trip. Cancelation of your booking less than 48 hours before or no show is no refund. In the unlikely event that we need to cancel due to bad weather, we will attempt to reschedule or offer you a full refund.

We strongly suggest that all bookings for transfers, particularly airport transfers, be made before the date of travel. Our vessels are restricted to carry a maximum number of guests, should this number be reached you will be asked to travel on the next available ferry.

Travelling with luggage

A luggage service is available for Resort Connection guests.  Luggage will need to be checked in 15 minutes prior to departure and is limited to one large suitcase and one small piece per person.

Departing/arriving Port of Airlie

Most Airlie Beach accommodation is within easy walking distance to Port of Airlie. If however, you need a transfer to the marina, please contact us to enquire about bus and taxi services.

Departing/arriving Great Barrier Reef (Hamilton Island) Airport

Vessels arrive/depart from the jetty at the Airport just 100 metres from the airline check-in desks. Travel to and from the Airport Jetty is strictly for passengers connecting with flights only. Porters will transfer your luggage between the airport terminal and the vessels. It is your responsibility to collect your luggage at the designated drop off point at Port of Airlie.

All  arriving  guests staying at qualia, Yacht Club Villas and the Beach Club will be met by a guest services representative for private transfers to your accommodation. Guests staying at the Reef View Hotel, Palm Bungalows and holiday home accommodation will need to see the drivers of the island transfer service.

Departing/arriving Whitsunday Coast (Proserpine) Airport

When  arriving  at the airport you’ll be met by our coach drivers who transfer you to Port of Airlie for vessel transfers to your island resort. All  departing  passengers should make themselves known to the coach drivers at Port of Airlie for transfers to the airport. Coach times will be advised when you make your booking.

Departing/arriving Hamilton Island Marina

This is the access point for all holiday makers and people visiting Hamilton Island on business. Shuttle buses operate from the Marina to scheduled points on the island at regular intervals. Guests staying at qualia, Yacht Club Villas and the Beach Club will be met by a guest services representative at the top of the jetty for private transfers to their respective accommodation. Guests staying at the Reef View Hotel, Palm Bungalows and holiday home accommodation will need to see the drivers of the transfer vehicles that meet each vessel at the top of the jetty. A Resort Link taxi service is also available and can be contacted by telephone located at the General Store. A per person charge will apply.

Capri Island is one of the most beautiful places you can visit in Italy . So if your travels bring you to southern Italy, we highly recommend planning a visit to the island!

And while Capri is a wonderful vacation destination in itself, many tourists combine it with a visit to Naples , Pompeii, Mount Vesuvius , or the Amalfi Coast and only have a day for the island… If that’s your plan as well, don’t hesitate – Capri is absolutely worth it, even if just for 1 day .

While there are several places from where you can reach the island, the best and quickest way to get to Capri is from Sorrento.

Capri from Sorrento: distance & how long it takes to get there

Since Capri is an island that is not connected to the Italian mainland by bridge or tunnel, the only way to get to Capri is by boat (assuming you don’t have a helicopter – in which case, I’m sure you wouldn’t be reading this)… You can reach Capri by boat from Naples, Sorrento, Sorrento Peninsula, or the Amalfi Coast…

The closest piece of land from where you can reach Capri is the Sorrento Peninsula. Capri is located just 5 kilometers from the mainland, and about 12-15 km by boat from Sorrento town .

So in this guide, we focus on this option – traveling to Capri from Sorrento. But you can easily use the same tips and itinerary if traveling from other places as well.

The journey from Sorrento to Capri takes as little as 25-35 minutes , depending on the boat or the ferry you choose. There are large (car) ferries that run between Sorrento and Capri regularly the whole year round. In addition – in the high season between April and October – there are also many smaller companies that offer boat trips and/or organized tours to Capri.

Just to make it clear, you cannot drive to Capri . And even though there are car ferries and you can drive on Capri, tourists cannot visit Capri by car in the high season. But even in the winter season, it’s not advisable to visit Capri by car. The roads are narrow, parking – hard to find, and the best spots can’t be reached by car anyway. Take my word for it and don’t even consider it.

Sorrento to Capri ferry info

As already mentioned, there are many companies operating boat trips between Sorrento to Capri. All the bigger ferries depart from the main harbor of Sorrento – Marina Piccola , where you’ll also find their ticket offices.

The main ferry between Sorrento and Capri is operated by Caremar . It’s a huge boat that can carry cars and hundreds of passengers. This is probably the best option if you are visiting Capri in the low season (when the seas can be rougher) or if you have lots of luggage.

In the high season, there are many other options for ferries between Sorrento and Capri. While it’s usually possible to just get a ticket at the harbor, I highly advise booking a ferry in advance (online, or by walking to the harbor the day before, if you can). Otherwise, you may need to wait for the next available boat and waste precious time which you could be spending sightseeing…

TIP: Start your day early and take one of the first ferries in the morning (ideally before 8.30-9 am). Be sure to pre-book your return ferry since coming back from Capri in the afternoon is even more difficult than getting there in the morning. Unless you go with an organized tour, this is by far the best way to make the most out of your Capri day trip from Sorrento.

Which ferry is best? I would just choose the boat that best fits your itinerary. You can find the schedule for the biggest ferry companies and book tickets on this website (this is probably not everything that is available but this is one of the best websites I found when planning our own trip).

TIP: There is now this return boat transfer from Sorrento to Capri that is perfect if you want to visit the island for just a day. It has several advantages over ferries: you can book the ticket in advance, it’s cancelable up to 24 hours before the trip, and you can enjoy the scenery along the way (not like our experience with the ferry with no open spaces and dirty windows – see below).

Good to know: If you already find this part of the planning overwhelming, do yourself a favor and book an organized tour where most of the practical aspects of the day trip to Capri will be arranged for you. And if your budget allows it or you are traveling with a bigger family/group, you can also opt for a private day trip .

Our experience with Sorrento – Capri ferry

We booked the ferry from Sorrento to Capri with Caremar in advance. This was the best option for us since we were traveling in the shoulder season and wanted to be sure the boat would actually go no matter the weather. We also had luggage and you don’t have to pay extra for regular-size suitcases on this ferry.

This ferry is huge, efficient, reliable, and is one of the cheapest options. However, it’s not the nicest way to get to Capri since you won’t see much (anything) from the boat. Passengers sit inside and the only outside area that is accessible to everyone is very small and the views are limited. Plus, the windows are dirty… And, when we arrived in Capri, our huge ferry had to wait in line at the harbor for almost an hour (!) whereas all the smaller boats could just dock without any problems…

Also, when you book your tickets online, they charge you an extra booking fee and you still need to get a ‘boarding pass’ at their ticket office in Sorrento Harbor. This can be a nightmare on a busy day, so be sure to arrive well in advance. However, this was the case for several other ferries we took in the area with the other companies as well. No idea why they make it so unnecessarily complicated…

Good to know: While waiting to get our ‘boarding passes’ at the harbor in Sorrento, we saw many people queuing at various ticket offices of smaller companies trying to get return tickets to Capri for the day itself. We overhead that people who wanted to come back at around 6-7 PM were told that those boats were fully booked already… So they had to choose an earlier time for the return trip. This was at 9 am in the first week of April which is considered a rather quiet shoulder season…

So I recommend booking the ferry in advance, especially if traveling in the summer or on the weekends. As already said, if you are just going for a day and don’t have luggage with you, it’s better to opt for a round-trip transfer by smaller boat – it’s much more relaxing and more scenic than the ferry.

Day tours from Sorrento to Capri

Before we continue with the suggestions on how to best spend your day once you get to Capri, let’s take a look at the organized tours . While you can easily visit Capri from Sorrento on your own, there are some advantages of going with a tour.

First, by booking a tour, you don’t have to worry about how to get to Capri and you have your seat guaranteed . Furthermore, most Capri day tours already include a boat trip around the island and a stop at the famous Blue Grotto , one of the most iconic places to see in Capri . This saves you quite some time not having to arrange it yourself once you get to the island.

And finally, the majority of organized tours foresee 4-5 hours of free time on Capri Island , allowing you to choose exactly what you want to see and do it at your own pace. For recommendations on how to spend your day in Capri, see our itinerary suggestions below.

Of course, there are also some disadvantages of going with a tour vs. on your own, mainly that you’ll have limited time on the island. Going on your own, you could take one of the earliest ferries to Capri and one of the latest ferries back to Sorrento which would give you a bit more time on the island. On the other hand, ferries only run between 7 am and +- 7 pm, and a 12-hour sightseeing day might not be everyone’s idea of a relaxing vacation anyway…

TIP: If you decide to go with a tour , we highly recommend booking online in advance . That way, you can compare itineraries, prices, what’s included, and read customer reviews. Booking a tour at the harbor is overwhelming and often you have no idea what you book, if you pay the correct price for what you get, or how good the service is…

Since the choice of tours is overwhelming online as well, we hand-picked a few of the best options for Capri tours from Sorrento:

• Exclusive small-group tour . This is one of the best-rated Capri day tours from Sorrento. You travel in a small boat with a maximum of 12 people, tour around the island, stop at the Blue Grotto (a visit inside is always optional), stop for a swim, and get about 4 hours of free time to explore Capri.
• Best-value tour . This tour is the best-rated budget option for visiting Capri from Sorrento. The itinerary is very similar to the other tours, but because you travel on a bigger boat, it’s much cheaper. It takes you from Sorrento to Capri and includes the boat tour around the island (+Blue Grotto stop), plus a few other things – so it’s actually better value than paying for the regular ferry to the island and the boat tour around it separately.
• Private tour . This is one of the best-value private tours from Sorrento to Capri. It has a very similar itinerary as all the other tours, with the advantage that you travel on a private boat. If you are traveling with 4-5 people, it offers really good value.
• Private all-in tour . This is quite an expensive tour, but it takes care of everything – from getting to the island to visiting all the main highlights. If money isn’t an issue and you want to see the best of Capri with a personal guide by your side, this is one of the best options.

What to see in Capri in a day – suggested itineraries

There are many possibilities for how to spend a day in Capri. A lot depends on how much time you have, how you get around (taxi, bus,..), your interests, but also how busy it is and how much time you’ll waste waiting in lines…

Below, you can find two suggested day trip itineraries covering the main highlights of Capri in the most efficient way .

One of them is a full-day itinerary for those of you traveling on your own, and the other one is a 4-5-hour itinerary for those visiting Capri with a tour.

Whether you are traveling on your own or with a tour that gives you several hours of free time on the island, you can use one of these suggestions to make the most of your day in Capri. Take a look below!

OPTION 1: Best of Capri in 1 day

This itinerary is for those who want to see all the most popular places in Capri in a day. It includes the boat tour around the island and the Blue Grotto as well as the main points of interest in Capri and Anacapri. This concentrates on the ‘musts’, keeping into account what’s actually doable in just 1 day.

Below is a short overview of how you could spend a day in Capri. Please note that the times are just indicated for your reference. This is probably the most logical (thus most popular itinerary), so it might get very busy at some places (buses, chairlift, etc.).

8.30 AM: Ferry from Sorrento to Capri. 9.30 AM : Boat tour around the island (takes 1 hour, but the optional Blue Grotto visit will make it longer). Or opt for this highly-rated private tour which takes 2 hours. 11 AM: Bus or taxi, or steep stairs to Anacapri. Noon : Monte Solaro by chairlift. 1 PM: Anacapri center, lunch & bus or taxi to Capri. 2.30-3 PM: Capri town: Piazza Umberto I, Via Camerelle, Giardini di Augusto (+Via Krupp views), etc. 5-6 PM : Funicular down to Marina Grande and ferry back to Sorrento.

TIP: If you don’t have to rush to the harbor for the ferry, you could explore a bit more. In that case, you could spend a bit more time in Anacapri and visit Villa San Michele and San Michele Church .

In Capri town , visit (one of) the following – Villa Jovis, the Natural Arch, or Belvedere Tragara . You can make a loop by heading to the Natural Arch first, then hiking Via Pizzolungo to Belvedere Tragara, and from there back to the town center. This is one of the nicest walks in Capri, but you’ll need at least 2-3 hours and the hike involves quite some stairs.

If you also want to see Villa Jovis, you’ll need even more time, so be sure to check your ferry schedule!

PRO TIP: If you don’t mind some backtracking and want to avoid the biggest crowds everywhere, you could also visit these places in a different order . So, for example, start with Anacapri and Monte Solaro first thing in the morning (the chairlift starts running at 9.30 AM). Then walk down (or take a bus) to Marina Grande, do a boat tour, and have some lunch. In the afternoon, take the funicular to Capri town and explore there.

Or arrive in Capri super early, walk Via Pizzolungo in the morning, explore Capri, have lunch, do the boat tour, and then visit Anacapri and Monte Solaro in the afternoon.

OPTION 2: Capri in 4-5 hours

This is an itinerary that will work best if you are visiting Capri with a boat tour . As already mentioned, most organized tours will already take you on a boat trip around the island and stop at the Blue Cave. So you’ll have covered two of the best activities already and have 4-5 hours left to explore Capri on your own.

For that, you could use a similar itinerary to the one described above. But you’ll have to just concentrate on the musts and be sure you get back to the boat in time.

As a minimum, we recommend visiting Monte Solaro in Anacapri (take a bus or a taxi from the harbor to get there). From there, take a bus or a taxi to Capri and explore the town center.

Some of the must-sees with little time include Piazza Umberto I and Via Camerelle . We highly recommend visiting Giardini di Augusto which offers amazing coastal views. Here, you can also see the famous Via Krupp .

From Capri, take a funicular (or bus/ taxi) down to your boat at Marina Grande .

Visiting Capri from Sorrento – FAQ

The best way to get to Capri from Sorrento is by taking a ferry from Sorento’s Marina Piccola to Capri’s Marina Grande. In high season, there are ferries every 20-30 minutes, and they run from 7 AM to +- 7 PM. Organized boat tours and private boats are also available.

Depending on which boat you book, the ferry ride from Sorrento to Capri takes about 20-30 minutes.

A one-way ferry ticket from Sorrento to Capri costs 20-30 euros, so about 40-60 euros for the round trip. The price depends on the boat and also on the time of the day.

There are various tour options from Sorrento to Capri. The cheapest boat tours start from about 55-60 euro per person. If you prefer to travel in a smaller group, prepare to pay 100-130 euro per person. Most tours do not include the Blue Grotto entrance fee, which is an additional 14 euro per person.

While many parts of Capri can only be explored on foot, you cannot walk everywhere . The best way to get around is by public bus or by taxi. A single bus ride costs 2.40 euros (if you get a ticket in advance), or you can get a day ticket for the price of three single rides. Taxi prices depend on the distance you travel and are much higher, but taking a taxi can save you a lot of time. There’s also a funicular that connects Marina Grande to Capri (it costs 2.20 euros).

Hi Alejandro, there are plenty of locals living/vacationing on Carpri Island who take ferries with their kids and babies all the time. So yes, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to do that. You may want to opt for a bigger boat if you have lots of luggage and a stroller.

Hi…how far in advance would you recommend I book the return ferry tickets from Sorrento if we are travelling at the start of July? (A month? 2 mths? More?) also are the tickets refundable if you book in advance?

Hi Nicoleta, we booked our tickets a few weeks in advance. It's really hard to say, but often - especially if you are not flexible with the timing - it's best to book upfront. If you don't have to travel during the peak times (morning and evening), then you can usually also find something available at the harbor. But we were there in a really low season and all the morning departures (and evening trips to come back) were sold out. As for the cancelation, as far as I remember, our tickets with the big ferry were non-cancelable. This probably depends on the company you choose to travel with. The tours that we recommend are all cancelable up to 24 hours before the trip, but that's not the case for the ferries. PS I just did some quick research to see if there were any new options available and I found this boat transfer. From what I see, they only provide transportation to Capri from Sorrento and back, giving you complete freedom to explore the island on your own. At the moment, these tickets are cancelable/amendable up to 24 hours before the trip. So this could be a good option for you. Also, this boat looks so much nicer than the big ferry that we took - at least, you can also enjoy the scenery from the boat.

Hi Seline, it all depends on how much time you have. If you have just one day, then I’d go directly from Naples to Capri and spend as much as possible time there. If you have a few days extra, then yes, Sorrento is really nice. We stayed there and really enjoyed it, but more so in the evening when it was quieter. Also, you only need an hour or two in Sorrento- not the whole day. But with limited time and if staying in Naples, there are better ways to spend your time. Equipped with ice-breaking technology, these huge fancy yachts are the only river cruisers running all year around. The round trip journey takes two and a half hours and floats past all the big sights like the White House, Novodevichy monastery and the Kremlin. There’s a large open air observation deck up top, while the main body of the ship houses a restaurant with a dance floor for a romantic post dinner dance. For a particularly romantic experience take one of the evening boats and admire the bright lights of the city skyline at night.
