Hi. Does anyone have a 2014 astra excite. I've recently bought one and the trip computer only shows the mileage. Is this normal? When I press the menu button, I get the tire load, then the oil but that's it. Vauxhall told me that's all there is, but I'm sure I read that you can activate more things by connecting it to opcom on a laptop. Can anyone shed some light on this please. Thank you

Not sure you'll get much more information on the standard system
But you could get an OBD dongle and tether it to your phone with an app it should show heaps more information about the car's live data readings

Trip computer accuracy

Anyone else noticed that the trip computer is very inaccurate. I've just filled up and here's my figures Mileage 400.6miles Trip average 62.6mpg Filled up 33.18ltrs (7.3gl) Calculated average 54.8mpg Which works out at approx 16% inaccurate
Mine works just %5 inaccurate so far if i dont calculate it wrong.
Did you reset the trip when you last filled up? Was 33.18 litres read off the pump? What was the fuel reading difference before and after filling up? Presumably the car measured it as being less than 33? It sounds like this is related to the fuel huge reading.
Yep I reset everytime. 33.18ltrs read from pump. Gauge was reading 1/4 and 220miles left after was reading full and 660 range.
I have also noticed a difference between 17-20%, but i had a recalibration on my dealer. It seems to be ok for now but i still wait to measure again. cornishtaz, your figures appear to be too low for me, in what driving conditions do you achieve such numbers??
Mine seems to be a couple of mpg out, if it says 45mpg it's actually done 43mpg. This seems to be about the same margin for error as other cars I've owned.

I had 54,8 mpg this morning at a distance of 25 miles but i was very careful... It seems that the sport mode under some circumstances helps in fuel efficiency.

Yes it is the trip computer reading. But as I have mentioned, I have had my readings recalibrated. Before the reprogramming- recalibration my readings would be of about 63-65mpg
Many thanks think I'll see if my dealer can recalibrate my trip computer

The trip computer function is sometimes not enabled on all Astra J cars.
It is possible to add this functionality by programming the instrument cluster.

Hi We just got a zafira and it has 3 line screen and BC button. When I press tge button it says No Function. Does it just need programming in with the vauxhall software? Regards
Yes, it means you don't have the trip computer enabled. The trip computer won't work on a 2-line display (The one with two buttons), but all other screens should be fine, so as you've got a 3-line display, you'll be fine. I wouldn't go to Vauxhall about it though as they usually claim it can't be done and even if it can, it'll be hugely expensive. I would see someone like stampede for it, as he won't rip you off and he knows exactly what he's doing :thumbs:
How much would someone charge? We live in County Durham.
I normaly charge a tenner as a guideline (its only a quick job to update the variant config)
Ok then mark, this thread seems to answer one of my questions but still need to know if its possible. The original cd30 for my car was cream crackered so got another one complete with display. However the readouts i get on the display are totally wrong, giving me about 10mpg in my 1.7cdti. Can it be reprogrammed to my car using the stats for a 1.7?

Does yours not show it in the middle display between the Rev counter and speed, you just use the twist on the indicator stalk to scroll through, I thought all Astra had that on them ? https://nemiga.com/cat_spares/epc/vauxhall/p10/p11/4/ It’s item no 18 all the best
Thank you for your reply,when I use the stalk it only gives me 3 options miles covered remaining oil life and imperial/metric Vauxhall said it can't be added would have to had been done at the factory
I'm not sure you can have it activated on the J. Unlike the H. I may stand corrected though. The J is a lot harder to retro fit items & activate software etc.

Yes it can be changed done it a few times.......just need to change the instrument panel dic variant config. You just need the vaux tool.

Ive only found out how to work this as i didnt have a trip computer on my old astra h, however when i press the button on the steering wheel it says "No Function" on the centre console screen. I have got a new 08 Mk5 Astra SRi 1.9CDTi (150). This model has a monochrome multifunction display with a trip computer which displays range, average fuel consumption and instant fuel consumption. Trouble is, I find the instant fuel consumption figure distracting because it fluctuates wildly between 0 and 999!

I am new here. My vauxhall astra 2010 model had activated trip 1 computer. Just would like to know, how to deactivate this trip computer. All the time trip computer is seen as activated with orange color as pictured and I would like to deactivate the orange color flashing. Is there any ways to deactivate it.
My Astra J GTC 1.6T has very basic information when it comes to the trip computer (only the KM show). Is there something Im missing or is this the only info that should come up?

I had it in to VX and they replaced the wiring in the steering wheel, all was good, until a few days later that is. yes you guessed it the problem return and has been getting worse over the last few weeks. On my newly bought 2007 Astra sxi I can't seem to find the trip computer info? Do all vauxhalls from this date have mpg range etc? My old Signum had it and that was 3 years younger.
