Corbett National Park is divided into five eco-tourism zones for proper management of tourism activities in the tiger reserve area. Dhikala zone, Bijarani zone, Jhirna zone, Dhela zone, and Durga Devi zone are the zones. Forest officials from the Corbett Tiger Reserve coordinate the safari tour in two shifts in all eco-tourism areas.

Located on the southern edge of the Corbett National Park , this zone was added to the tiger reserve zone much later, in 1994, and has gained enormous popularity among wildlife enthusiasts. The Jhirna zone is one of the most visited zones in the Corbett Reserve forest since it is open today for tourists all year.

There have been multiple reports of tiger sightings in this district and a diverse range of wildlife species. The wild bears, in addition to the magnificent tigers, are the main attraction of this zone. The Dhela zone is the most recent addition to the Corbett National Park’s tourism areas. The Zones opened them for safari tours in December 2014. Outside of the Corbett Tiger Reserve, the Sitabani forest zone is a reserve forest zone. The zone is designated as the tiger reserve’s buffer zone and is open to the public. This zone’s landscape is rich in natural beauty, with thick forests, river streams, and numerous old temples.

About Bijrani

Bijrani Range is located close to Amdanda Gate anear Ramnagar. Visitors can have higher probablity of tiger sighting during Bijrani Safari. Wildlife, grasslands and dense, deep forest with stormy drains are major attraction of Bijrani wildlife zone.

Known for the diverse wildlife and amazing vegetation, Bijrani Zone is one of highest wildlife populated range of Corbett National Park .

Bijrani in Corbett National Park

A favourite spot for shooting in British era, Bijrani range is still a hot spot for wildlife lovers. Bijrani Range has core, buffer and tourism zone. Tourists are allowed to visit only tourism zone which atarts after 5 km from Amdanda Gate. Forest Rest House FRH Bijrani is available for night stay at Bijrani Range. Visitors can take jeep and elephant safari at Bijrani. It is recommended to pre-book Safari at Ramnagar office. Bijrani Zone is open for visitors from 15 October to 15 June. Only two safari are operated during a day in Bijrani zone.

Jeep Safari At Bijrani Zone

Bijrani safari zone of Jim Corbett national park is a famous tourist spot of Corbett National Park. Bijrani safari is known for having a good number of resorts at Corbett National Park. It has a rich population of tigers and offers the most beautiful view of its visitor. 

Jungle Safari can be experienced in the morning or in the evening, but only out of core areas. A limited number of vehicles are allowed on a particular path so that the habitat of wildlife can never get disturbed.

Accommodation at Bijrani Zone

Bijrani zone has the most of the tiger population. There are  two Forest Rest House to stay inside this zone where the most of tiger  sightings happen. There is no electricity so the power sockets are not working  but Light and Fans work properly in the night for limited hours, running hot  water is also available, food is average and served at KMVN canteen. The two  Forest Rest House here are named as Bijrani (FRH) and Malani (FRH).

Bijrani (FRH)

Bijrani FRH is built in 1930’s  which is situated at he edge of the core zone of the Jim Corbett National Park.  This small FRH named after the Malani sot (stream) offers one of the most  picturesque surroundings and a quiet ambience. It has a KMVN canteen and Aamdanda  gate is the entry point for this forest rest house. This is one of the best site  for a peaceful stay and enjoying bird watching. There are 3 types of  accommodations available which are Single bed, Double bed and Four bed. In Bijrani  Frh 2 rooms has single bed, 4 rooms has double beds and 1 room has four beds. 

Malani (FRH)

Malani forest rest house is built in 1930 at the edge core of  the Jim Corbett National Park. It has a KMVN canteen and Aamdanda gate is the  entry point for this forest rest house. This small FRH named after the Malani  sot (stream) offers one of the most picturesque surroundings and a quiet ambience. This forest rest house has 2 rooms of double bed.

Opening and Closing

The Bijrani day Safari zone of Corbett Tiger Reserve remains open for  tourists from 15th October to till June. Night stay in Bijrani Ecotourism Zones  is allowed from 15th October till June 2022. And Bijrani Zone remains  closed for night halts and Day Visit from 1st July 2021 to 14th October 2021.

Welcome to Jeep Safari Booking portal of Jim Corbett National Park. Visitors can book online Jeep Safari or Canter Safari for six different zones of the park namely, Bijrani, Jhirna, Dhikala, Dhela, and Durgadevi. All the procedures of Safari Booking at Corbett are managed by the forest officials as per India’s forest department guidelines. Please note that we cannot influence the safari zone, safari driver, and the naturalist guide as it is not in our hands. It is solely decided by the forest officials. Though all the zones have a healthy population of tigers and wildlife sightings are reported more or less the same. These all aspects are supervised by the automated computerized system to ensure the equal distribution of safari vehicles in respective zones.

Advance Booking Procedure : For booking request please provide us the following details

• The full name, age, and sex of each visitor as printed same on the identity cards to be provided along with the confirmatory amount
• Preferred traveling date & Safari timing (Morning/Afternoon)
• Specific ID card number of your (Pan Card, Aadhaar No., Driving license No, etc.)
• Safari Entry fee paid in advance
• Jeep Safari & Canter Safari amounts are non-refundable.
• Please carry the same ID card submitted during the online booking
• Please intimate us 45 days in advance (for Indian nationals)
• Foreign nationals can ask for booking 90 days in advance
• Passport details are mandatory for making reservations for foreign tourists
• Safari permit is issued on a first come first serve basis (subject to availability)
• In case your safari is not booked due to reasons like technical error or non-availability of the seat, we will refund the whole amount in your given bank account. The same would be communicated accordingly.

Jim Corbett Safari Important information

• Visitors are required to obtain entry permits that are being issued online (by producing above mentioned documents)
• It should be noted that the entry permit to the Corbett National Park is provisional and can be changed or cancelled without any prior intimation
• The order of the Corbett Tiger Reserve Director will be final in this regard; we are governed by the rules made under the guidelines
• Entry permit belonging to you is not transferrable
• Only officially registered guides can join your excursions, please do not try to change the guide or naturalist
• Entry to the National Park is strictly prohibited after sunset
• Day visit to Dhikala Tourism Zone is not permitted except for the tourists staying inside the forest lodges
• While doing jeep safari do not get down from the vehicle, it is strictly not allowed
• Avoid carrying pets while you are on a holiday tour as no pets can be taken inside the CTR
• All visitors to the Corbett Tiger Reserve abide by the rules and regulations of the wildlife protection act. So please co-operate

• Jeep and Canter safari at Corbett is conducted only in two shifts – Morning and Evening daily
• Morning safari is conducted from 06:30 AM to 09:30 AM and afternoon safari time is from 02:30 PM to 05:30 PM
• Visitors are required to send their passport-size photograph needed for permit registration
• The number of visitors going on safari vehicles should not exceed the limit as they will be stopped at the entry gate
• The tourists are held responsible for their own luggage during the safari, no safari driver or guide is liable for the same

The rest house at Bijrani has six rooms (Four with double beds and two with single beds) and a dormitory consisting of four beds. The compound has its restaurant and canteen. Elephant rides into the jungle are available from here. The region is frequented by wild animals and birds unperturbed by human interventions. The chances of spotting a tiger, Sloth bear and a herd of elephants are quite high in this part of the park. The rest house in Malani has two rooms (Double bed) and is very popular among bird watchers and tourists seeking a peaceful place. The picturesque beauty of Birjani is magnificent. It is endowed with wide grasslands, thick forests, huge water drains and an inspiring count of flora and fauna.

Bijrani Safari Zone

Dhikala is the primary zone of the Jim Corbett National Park where night stay is also permitted amidst its jungle. We also provide the complete tour package of Dhikala tourism zone which includes Jeep & Canter Safari Permit and the accommodation at the forest rest houses of Dhikala zone.

Dhikala Jeep Safari

Unlike the other zones of the Corbett National Park, the Dhikala zone doesn’t offer the Jeep safari facility for the day visitors. Only the tourists who have the booking in the forest houses located in the zone can enjoy the Jeep safari in Dhikala. After getting the permit for the night stay in any FRH in the zone, you have to hire a Jeep with a driver and a naturist in order to get inside the park and visit your booked forest house. Once inside the park, you are free to explore the jungle and its flora and fauna by the Jeep for the whole day within the prescribed time.

Perfect example of the unscathed natural beauty, the Dhikala ecotourism zone has the most picturesque landscape in the Corbett National Park. Immensely rich in the wildlife variety, it is the most sought after tourism zone in India. Dhikala zone is the largest among the five zones of the Corbett tiger reserve with having the most beautiful landscape which consists of dense Sal forest, large grassland, narrow valley and various channels of the Ramganga river. The Ramganga River is considered as the lifeline of the Corbett forest which enriches the rustic beauty of the wild and nourishes the flora and fauna of the Corbett.

The prime attraction among the vividly rich wildlife in Dhikala zone is the Royal Bengal Tiger and the Asiatic elephants. To the delight of the tourists, this zone is fairly populated with these big animals and thus most often tourists have been bestowed with the graceful sighting of the Royal Bengal tigers and herds of Asiatic elephants. Dhikala zone named after the large Dhikal grassland which is the largest grassland in the Corbett Reserve landscape. Apart from the tigers and elephants, the zone is home to a large number of varied wild fauna which consists of leopards, spotted deer, sambhar deer, hog deer, langurs, wild boars, crocodiles and many other animals and reptiles.

Dhikala Elephant Safari @ Temporarily Closed

Elephant safari in the dense forest is the best way to explore the rich flora and fauna of the park as well as it is the most thrilling safari experience as tourists can get the sight of animals at very close range in comparison to the Jeep and Canter safari. The Dhikala zone also offers elephant safari but it can be enjoyed only by the tourists staying in the Dhikala forest house. There are limited numbers of the elephant used for safari and it is a first-come-first-served service so the phrase “an early bird can get the worm” is true here. You have to pay for the elephant safari on the spot at the elephant camp as there is no advance booking for this. The elephant safari is not organized on Monday, so if you like to enjoy the elephant safari then organize your night stay at Dhikala accordingly. Note: Elephant Safari in Corbett is currently prohibited by the order of Dehradun apex court under the Wildlife Act.

Attractions In Dhikala Zone

Canter safari is conducted by the Corbett forest officials in the Dhikala zone to provide an opportunity to explore the rich wildlife of this zone. The Canter safari is the only option for the wildlife lovers who stay out of the Dhikala tourism zone and want to visit the area because the Day Jeep safari is not conducted for this zone. The Canter is a 16-seater open bus and a seat on the Canter can be booked from online or from the Corbett National Park office in Ramnagar. The starting point of the Canter safari is Ramnagar Corbett office so the tourists can board the Canter here for the safari if they have pre-booked permit. During the day safari, the Canter makes a stop at the Dhikala forest rest house for a while and tourists can get down from the Canter, get refreshed, take a walk around the compound and can also enjoy the beauty of the overlooking Ramganga river as well as the chance sighting of various wild animals on the riverbed.

Forest Rest House

The night stay in the forest house in the Dhikala zone is like a dream adventure for any wildlife lovers. There are 4 forest rest houses situated in this zone, which are Dhikala FRH, Gairal FRH, Sarpduli FRH and Sultan FRH. Among all the four rest houses, the Dhikala FRH is the most sought after rest house due to its strategic location and enhanced facilities. Dhikala forest rest house is the biggest rest house with having around 28 double-bed rooms and a dormitory of 12 beds in various accommodation wings. Dhikala FRH is the only forest rest house in the Corbett NP which has the facility of 24-hour electricity in the rooms.

In order to visit the Bijrani zone, you have to obtain an entry permit for the safari, which you have to show to the forest officials at the entry gate. You can book your safari entry permit through online maximum of 45 days in advance or you can book the same day safari from the forest office in the Ramnagar after paying the required fee. Booking is done on the first come, first served basis and is a subject to availability. Along with the entry permit, you also have to hire a safari jeep and a guide/naturist, which are mandatory for the entry in the tiger reserve area. Maximum of six adults and two children (below 12 years) are allowed in one safari jeep apart from the driver and a guide. It is always best to book your permit in advance before reaching at the Corbett tiger reserve as there is always a rush of tourists for the safari and only 30 safari jeeps are allowed to enter into the Bijrani zone in one shift and almost all jeeps are pre-booked.

Forest Watchtower

The watchtower is the unique feature of the Dhikala zone, which offers you an amazing opportunity to view the wildlife. The watchtower is situated at the strategic location overlooking the large Chaur and the entire Ramganga River, thus from the tower you will have an excellent sighting of the animals grazing in the grass field or roaming at the bank of the River Ramganga. The watchtower is located nearby the Dhikala rest house and can easily be reached there while staying at the rest house.

Gairal Crocodile Point

Located near the Gairal Rest house, the crocodile point is a terrace-like spot built over a pool with many crocodiles as the permanent habitat. You can watch the crocodiles and their activity by standing on the terrace and looking down in the pool. This is an amazing feeling to watch such a dangerous creature of water at so close.

Grass Lands (Chaurs)

The large grassland, which is known as Chaurs, is the prime location in the Dhikala to spot wild animals from tigers to elephants, various species of deer, wild pigs and many others. Dhikala zone is much famous for its vast Chaurs and the tiger sighting in the area is frequently reported by the tourists.

Bijrani Tourism Zone

Bijrani Zone- Among the six safari zones, the Bijrani zone is considered as the best zone after the Dhikala zone to spot the tiger. The picturesque landscape of this zone, which consists of large grass fields known as Chaurs and dense Sal forest, plenty of waterholes, and river streams is no less enchanting than the Dhikala zone. The chances of tiger spotting in this zone are almost similar to the Dhikala zone and the tiger sighting is reported often by safari tourists. Along with the big cats like Bengal tigers and leopards, several types of other animals like wild elephants, and black bears as well as different types of deer and antelopes namely Chital, Sambar, and Hog Deer are found in this zone. It also a perfect place for birding, there are around 600 species of resident and migratory birds are seen here.

Aamdanda gate is the entrance to the Bijrani zone, which is located at a distance of around 1 km from Ramnagar city. There is a buffer zone of 5 km after entering the gate, which you have to cross to get into the core zone. There are two forest rest houses located in this zone and are available for tourists to stay here after making a booking for the night's stay. One is the Bijrani forest rest house and the other is the Malani forest rest house. The day safari is not allowed to stay here for the night, but the day safari can enjoy the elephant ride from here. The elephant safari is only available in the Bijrani and Dhikala zones and is subject to availability as there are limited numbers of elephants used for the safari ride. Bijrani safari.

Bijrani Safari Zone is a famous tourist destination of Jim Corbett National Park. This is located a few kilometers away from Ramnagar. This zone has a rich population of tigers and the best sighting for visitors. Bijrani Safari can be experienced in the day as well as in the evening. Only limited vehicles are allowed at a time to conserve the habitat of wildlife. Bijrani and Malani forest rest house are the two comfortable place to a stay to enjoy the beauty of this zone.

Chaurs (Grasslands)

The main attractions of the Bijrani zone are Machaan Chaur, Badhai Chaur, Ringora Chaur, and many others. They all beautify the forests and attract visitors.

Flora and Fauna

The flora and fauna of Bijrani Zone are purely serene and perfect. The forest is covered with Sal trees along with the grasslands. Several types of Deer and Antilopes namely Chital (Axis axis), Para (Axis pornicus), Hog Deer, Sambar (Cervus Unicolor), Kakkar (Muntiacus muntjak) are part of this beautiful zone. Tigers and Wild Elephant are also spotted in this area. Several birds are also observed in this zone. The sloth bear is also spotted in these forests because of the presence of termites and the sweet nectar of Mahua flowers. Several reptiles are also seen in this zone like the Indian Python, Cobra, Krait, King Cobra along with different species of lizards. The watchtower is just 10 minutes walk from the Dhikala forest rest house. A man-made waterhole is situated around fifty yards to the south of the watchtower where visitors can spot Deers, Elephants, Wild Pigs and sometimes Wild Tiger.

Crocodile Point at Gairal

The crocodile pool is located near Gairal. It is basically a balcony-like natural structure, which looks down upon a pool permanently inhabited by crocodiles.

Bijrani Safari Zone Corbett

After Dhikala, its Bijrani Zone that offers the best jeep safari possibility in Corbett National Park. This picturesque section of the Corbett National Park is mainly noticeable for its large grass fields such as Chaurs and dense Sal forest, and river streams. It might be the second best zone of Corbett but the chances of spotting tigers are quite similar to the Dhikala zone. Not only tigers, here one can see different types of animals like Sambar, Hog, Chital, Elephant and Black Beer. Morover, this zone is home to the 600 species of resident and migratory birds, which makes it just right to for birdwatching tour too. Bijrani Zone is approximately five kilometers from the Ramnagar City, and tourists can enter here by Amanda gate. After traveling for a kilometer inside the park, tourists will enter the buffer zone.

Bijrani zone safari

Bijrani tourist zone in corbett national park is the first choice among day tourists. Its entrance is at Aamdanda which is about 1 km. away from Ramnagar. After entering through Aamdanda gate, you cross about 5 km. of buffer zone before reaching Bijrani and jungle safari starts from this point. Bijrani is a beautiful spot and is known for its vast grass lands, deep forest , stormy drains and wild life. To visit this area, permission is granted by the Director, Corbett Tiger Reserve. Maximum 30 vehicles are allowed to travel into Bijrani during morning and same number of vehicles is allowed in the evening hours. For morning safari advance booking is required and for evening safari, permits are given on first come first serve basis. Bijrani has a forest lodge which has six rooms and a dormitory consisting of four beds. You can also take an elephant safari here.

Bijrani Safari Timings

Bijrani Safari Zone is a very popular area of the spectacular Corbett Tiger Reserve. This zone is enriched with a huge number of floral and faunal species. Birjani gives a tough competition to Dhikala zone while the tourist’s preferences are concerned. The zone is known for its wonderful landscape and is very calm and quite place. The beauty of this place is appreciated by all the visitors. This is one of the most tiger rich areas of the park.Birjani consists of a mixed topography with dense Sal forests combined with grasslands. The entry to this zone is through Aamdanda Gate.

Bijrani Safari Zone

Bijrani safari zone of Corbett national park is one another famous tourist destination of Corbett Park. This zone is located at a few kilometers distance from Ramnagar and is known for having a good number of resorts at Corbett National Park. Bijrani Safari zone shows rich population of tigers and offers a wonderful sighting to its visitors. Amdanda gate is the entrance to this zone and it consists of buffer, tourism and core areas. Safari can be experienced in morning or in the evening, but only out of core areas. On a particular path, limited numbers of vehicles are allowed at a time so that the habitat of wildlife can never get disturbed. If you wish you can enjoy Jeep safari for the full day to catch greater number of wildlife of Corbett Park. Bijrani and malani forest rest house are two wonderful loading options in the Bijrani zone, where you can experience a comfortable stay. Visiting hours for morning and evening slots are as follows
