Paipa, Boyacá

Paipa is a municipality in the beautiful department of Boyacá. It is a town that keeps an important part of the independence history of Colombia, because it was there where the Battle of the Pantano de Vargas was carried out, this battle opened the doors for the Cry of Independence of the Gran Colombia.

How to get to Paipa

Paipa is located in Boyacá, from some cities in the country you will find direct buses to Paipa, if you are in a city where this does not happen, you must go to Tunja, from the bus terminal in the city you can access transportation to the municipality of Paipa.

Weather and recommendations to visit Paipa

Paipa is 2525 meters above sea level, so it has a temperature of 13°C. During your visit to Paipa, wear warm clothes. However, if you visit the hot springs that characterize the destination, have a bathing suit or clothes for these spaces. Wear comfortable shoes for the tours or visits you have planned and always wear a jacket. Depending on the season, don’t forget your umbrella.

The Pantano de Vargas is one of the most important and visited attractions of Paipa, since it was there where one of the most important battles of the independence of Colombia took place, in this place a monument was built that honors the lancers of the Pantano, who knocked down the Spanish troops in 1819. Restaurants in Paipa

The gastronomic culture of Paipa is very varied, you will find from delicious soups and broths to complex dishes with tubers. The most famous dish of the Boyacense region is the “cocido” that includes the famous cubio .

As for places to eat, there is a diversity of them around the municipality, with excellent attention since the human quality of Boyacense is enormous. You will find good prices and different dishes.
